Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons - Chapter 318: Let me take you somewhere.

Chapter 318: Let me take you somewhere.
Inside the Elders Hall, all members of the Iron Council sat on their respective seats. All the subordinates were excused out of the Hall. The only other person standing in the middle of the Hall in front of all the Elders was Kayden.
“What were you thinking?”
The Matriarch questioned with a strict look on her face. Kayden’s body flinched as he stared at his mother.
“You were told to bring Hero Kael here. Who allowed you to challenge him to a duel?”
“…I wanted to see how strong he was.”
Kayden answered as he lowered his head.
“…”
The Matriarch remained silent, and her silence made Kayden panic even further and he started overexplaining,
“I went there with the intention to bring him here, but when my eyes fell on him, he looked weak. It piqued my curiosity, I wanted to know how someone like him managed to form a Bond with a Dragon and… whether I will be able to form a Bond with one as well.”
Like the common folks of the Ashen Heights, Kayden did not care about the fact that Kael was the Hero. Even though he knew what it meant because Nymeris made sure to teach him since he was the heir, to him, talks about Heroes were just an old legend he couldn’t care less about.
The Dragon Rider part, however, was something he couldn’t ignore. In his mind, Kayden firmly believed that Dragons no longer exist in this world, and when he was proven wrong, he couldn’t help but be curious about Kael.
“Then was your question answered?”
The Matriarch questioned with a strict look on her face.
“Are you satisfied with the result?”
“…”
Kayden didn’t say anything.
No, he couldn’t say anything. The sight of Kael roaring in front of him was still clear in his head, and it made his body tremble unconsciously. He also recalled how the Dragon Rider flew away on top of his Dragon, not even sparing him another glance as if he wasn’t worthy of it.
His pride was thoroughly crushed.
He could…
“I accept my defeat.”
He could only accept his defeat.
When Morvain heard those words, she glanced at Korvath with a worried look on her face. Clearly, the Matriarch did not like her son’s broken spirit. She was half expecting him to stare back at her and announce his wish to get stronger and challenge the Hero again, but this…
The Commander of Watch shook his head, signalling the Matriarch to calm down. He had talked with the Young Patriarch, he knew his current state of mind, and he did not blame him. With how the battle went, it would be more surprising if someone like him wasn’t shaken.
This was his first true and overwhelming defeat, after all.
The Young Patriarch would need more time.
Morvain did as the Commander signalled her to and calmed down. She then glanced at her trembling son and,
“You can leave.”
She ordered, surprising Kayden.
He thought he would get punished for not following orders.
“Your punishment is to reflect on yourself and understand why you lost.”
“There is nothing to understand. I lost because I was weaker than him.”
Kayden’s answer was instantaneous. Morvain raised her eyebrows and Kayden continued,
“He was strong, overwhelmingly strong.
I have never faced an opponent that strong.”
“…what?”
Morvain frowned and Kayden nodded,
“Even you wouldn’t be able to win against him.”
The Young Patriarch declared as he looked into Morvain’s eyes, surprising her again.
Morvain was a Ninth Stage Warrior; there weren’t many beings in this world who could defeat her in a fair, one-on-one battle, but listening to Kayden talk, she… couldn’t deny his words.
She saw the battle, she saw how helpless her son was, and it wasn’t because he was lacking in technique or something like that. He was completely outmatched.
The opponent literally teleported in the middle of the battle without any circles or artifacts.
How was one supposed to counter that?
The abilities Kael used were overpowering, and Morvain knew he held back because none of the abilities he used directly attacked Kayden. Actually, the only damage her son actually took was from the light flick that Kael used to wake him from his stupor and yet… he was still so shaken.
It was quite overwhelming.
‘A Hero huh…’
Morvain muttered in her head.
For now, however, she shook her head and,
“I am not asking you to defeat him yourself. I only want you to try and think of ways you can counter him. Think of him as an enemy you have to defeat no matter what, use whatever means you can think of, use as many people as you desire. I want you to be certain of your victory the next time you face him.”
She instructed, her words surprising Kayden.
“Mother, are you… planning to go against him?”
He questioned, a little taken aback.
“Of course not.”
Morvain shook her head.
“Why would I make an enemy out of the Dragon Rider? I merely wish for you to be prepared.”
“Prepared for what exactly?”
Kayden questioned.
“Anything.”
Morvain answered with a strict look on her face.
“You are now excused.”
She ordered him to leave. The confused Kayden left without saying anything, and once he was gone, Morvain turned towards the rest of the Elders of the Iron Council.
The meeting continued; the Hero wasn’t the only agenda today. Winter was coming, people were panicking because the food supplies were low, the number of brave merchants visiting them had reduced quite a bit as well, then there were also the Mountain Tribes to worry about.
There were simply too many things for them to take care of.
…
While the Matriarch and her Elders were in the Elders Hall, Kael and Lavinia flew in the air. It had been more than 12 hours since they had been to Ashen Heights, and just like they had decided, they still hadn’t made any moves.
Imperia remained silent as well. She hadn’t found anything particularly interesting either; after all, half of her Ants were busy with something else, the rest of the Ants had only marked the area around Kael and Lavinia to ensure their safety.
“Father.”
The little Ant called out.
“Hmm?”
Kael turned towards the little Ant and she pointed in a particular direction,
“Let me take you somewhere.”
