Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons - Chapter 434: His Igni

Chapter 434: His Igni
FWOOOOSH
The Dragon unleashed another stream of flames on the stone ceiling, melting the thick stone building that had stood tall and survived more than twelve hundred winters within seconds and then—
Flap
Igni flew away.
An action that made Kael stand in absolute shock, unable to believe what just happened.
Did his Igni just… move away from him…?
His Igni…?
Unlike him, the rest of the Hall, after the disappearance of the Dragon, seemed to have eased up a little.
“M-Mother, are you alright…?”
Kayden, who was frozen stiff during the entire interaction, finally came out of his reverie, instantly rushing towards his petrified mother.
As he shook her body, Morvain too, finally came back to her senses—
“I-I am.”
She answered, her mind, wanting to forget what just happened, diverted its attention to fallen Draksis,
“W-We need to get him treated.”
She spoke, crouching next to Draksis, who had already passed out from the agonizing pain.
“W-We cannot. We do not have enough medicines and…”
Aelindra spoke, then, as she lightly touched Draksis’s scorched arm, she continued in a lower voice—
“He wouldn’t be able to use his arm anyways…”
The meaning behind her words was clear, there was no point in using important medicines when his arm was already useless.
What’s worse?
Other elders agreed.
Medicines were precious resources, especially so since they couldn’t grow or create them naturally, almost all the medicines they had in reserve came from trade deals with the Merchants that came here.
Since there was no definite source for them, they needed to be especially careful in where to use them.
This was how the Velmourns had survived this long, being an Elder of the Iron Council didn’t make one an exception to this rule.
“He’s already asleep anyways, so h-he shouldn’t be in that much pain. He will feel better once he is awake.”
Korvath nodded as well, he tried to keep an emotionless front, but his cracking voice showed how much he was affected by all this.
The rest of the people gathered here had heavy expressions on their faces as well.
The only one who didn’t care about the particular situation was Lavinia—
All her focus was on frozen Kael.
“Kael, are you alright?”
The Mage questioned, shaking his body since he hadn’t answered any of her questions till now.
Finally, when Kael came out of his shock—
“I-Igni.”
He turned towards Lavinia and muttered,
“I-I need to go to him.”
Lavinia nodded at those words and the next second, Kael flew away, not caring about the unconscious Draksis or the elders around him.
All his focus was directed at one thing, his Igni and that sad, guilty look on his face as he flew away.
…
“This is where my Ants last saw him, Father. He flew further away but none of the Ants were fast enough to follow him.”
Imperia explained from Kael’s pocket, Kael nodded silently and pushed faster through the storm.
According to Imperia, Igni had flown to South-West, this was the region where most of the Tribes lived, of course, Kael wasn’t particularly worried about those Tribesmen. Yes, they might have ambushed Velmourns and annihilated the hunting party, but Igni was different.
Tribesmen weren’t strong enough to take him on unless they surrounded him, which in itself wasn’t easy to do especially since Igni was flying.
What worried Kael more was what would happen if Igni left the Heights and wandered into the forests, if the men from Zephyria, the Sky Kingdom, spotted him, things might get complicated.
After all, unlike the Tribesmen, the Sky Kingdom definitely had more than enough power to suppress his firstborn.
The moment he thought about that happening, Kael’s heart shuddered, his breathing became uneven and his body began to tremble.
Yes, after weeks of not experiencing it, it was happening again.
A panic attack.
The images of dead Igni from his Vision became fresher in his eyes, a lump formed in his throat as his body balance started to falter.
“Father!”
Cirri, who was already beside him in her air form, extending her fluid body as far as she could in order to find her older brother, shouted as she sensed her father’s condition.
“I-I am fine.
Don’t worry about me.”
Kael spoke in a hoarse voice.
Whatever his condition was, finding Igni was a priority. Even though he had Cirri beside him, Kael had spread his senses as far as he could, hoping to catch even a faint smell or sense some warmth left by Igni’s body temperature.
The stormy weather, however, wasn’t of any help. If anything, it was making him slower.
‘Father, take a left.’
Suddenly, Kael heard a voice in his head.
It was Vitaria.
From her tone, the Fox seemed uncertain, even full of hesitation, as if she wasn’t sure if she should be saying it or not but—sensing her father’s condition, sensing how quickly his heart was beating and his panic and anxiety were reaching levels that might actually harm his physical body…
The Fox didn’t seem to have any other choice.
‘Left? Why?’
Kael questioned.
‘I… might know where brother is.’
Vitaria answered.
‘Are you sure?’
Kael questioned, not wanting to take any chances but…
‘I am not.’
Vitaria shook her head.
And what’s worse?
There was nothing Kael could do.
Igni was naturally faster than him, sure, he could catch up if he used his abilities to raise his speed, but in the end, Igni had the head start, plus, unlike him, the storm didn’t affect Igni because of how overwhelmingly powerful he was.
Kael couldn’t exactly chase the running Igni away, he had no other choice but to take the chance and follow Vitaria’s direction.
‘…alright, guide me.’
Kael nodded unwillingly and took out Vitaria to ask for directions.
The Fox herself didn’t seem too sure, the stormy weather didn’t help either, more than once, she told Kael to return to the previous point they marked and changed directions.
Yes, they were definitely slower than before and the more time they wasted, the more Kael panicked. He barely controlled himself from releasing his anger and frustration on Vitaria, constantly reminding himself how the Fox was merely helping him and that all this happened because of him.
Vitaria too, sensed her father’s emotional turmoil and panicked even further, her little body began to tremble as she looked around, trying to find where to go next according to her memories.
Like Kael constantly blamed himself, the Fox too, had started blaming herself for her father’s rising heartbeat.
“Vitaria, calm down.”
Suddenly, Imperia muttered calmly.
“Father, you too.”
The Ant spoke, turning towards her Father.
“Brother is strong, even if he gets into trouble, he will not fall so easily. Even if the enemy is a Demi God, which in itself is highly unlikely, brother has more than enough tricks to last hours.
We have time.”
She explained, her words momentarily eased Kael’s heart as his breathing somewhat stabilized. Vitaria too, mirrored her father and her mind became clearer.
Imperia then jumped out of Kael’s pocket and landed onto Vitaria’s head,
“Now answer calmly,
Where are you trying to go?”
She questioned.
“I… remember three days ago when brother was sleeping and I wanted to play with him?”
The Fox asked in an uncertain, nervous tone.
“When you went to him but then for some reason decided not to wake him up and started bothering me instead?”
Cirri questioned.
“Yes, that!”
Vitaria nodded quickly, not even caring about how she looked nothing more than a bully in the situation. This wasn’t the time for that, plus, everyone here already knew the nightmare she was for her siblings. Only Igni could somewhat control her and while Imperia, at a certain level, could as well, the Ant was with Kael most of the time.
“I didn’t bother him because brother was having a dream.”
The Fox explained.
“A dream?”
Imperia tilted her head.
“Yes.”
Vitaria nodded.
“It was about the time he and Father went to hunt corrupted beasts to strengthen their reputation according to Lavinia’s plan.”
“What about it? Why are you telling us about it right now?”
Imperia asked with a frown. Cirri’s expression, however, suddenly changed. As someone who had seen most of Kael and Igni’s relationship with her own eyes, she instantly knew what the Fox was trying to get at—
“That was the only time Father and Brother were ever alone after the rest of us were born, it must be an extremely special moment for him, reminding him of the time when he was the only one Father showered all his love on!”
Vitaria nodded at those words.
“In the dream, Father and Brother were sitting together in front of a vast ocean, although I did see that place, I do not know where it i—”
Before Vitaria could even complete her words—
Kael dashed forward, his icy blue eyes burning with intense emotions.
Like Igni, he too remembered that spot.
If Igni was truly there…
Kael’s heart began pounding again, this time, with anticipation and hope.
Cirri and others, sensing his emotions, stayed silent. The Sky Dragon continued to create wind steps for her Father to step on, Kael too, pushed his body to its limit, breaking his own speed records and within 15 minutes,
They were here.
Vitaria instantly recognized the place even if it was covered with snow.
Kael, on the other hand, extended his senses to their limit, but then—
“Father! Here!”
Cirri pointed in a certain direction using the Wind.
Kael pushed himself and there he was…
Igni.
Sitting on the same spot he sat on when he came here with his Father.
