Chapter 443: I want the entire world to see that you belong to me.
“W-W-What are you…”
The mage stuttered, unable to react and Kael—
He just stared at this woman with a deadpan look on his face and—
“I am asking you to marry me, Lavinia Dragonborn.”
He proposed.
“Yes!”
And finally, the Princess nodded excitedly as she buried her face into Kael’s chest. For a moment, Kael froze, unable to believe that it actually worked.
Sure, he went on with all the talks about him being Father of Dragons and how he should be bold and confident in whatever he does, but gathering the courage and finally confessing the way he did, it definitely wasn’t easy.
His heart felt like it was stuck in his throat, his movements, his words, everything may look confident, but in truth, he was trembling inwardly.
And now that all that piled up tension and expectation was released…
Kael heaved a big sigh of relief as he tightened his hug around this woman and—
“Good, at least I won’t have to resort to Plan B now.”
He muttered softly and just as she heard those words,
“Plan B…?”
Lavinia moved, distancing her body a little.
She raised her head and narrowed her eyes, looking right into Kael’s.
“…what Plan B, Kael?”
She questioned, her tone sounding so threatening that it would send shivers down any being’s spine.
But Kael—
He just closed his eyes and shook his head,
“I was planning to take you somewhere else and marry you forcefully, you wouldn’t be able to run away once we are married, now would you?
Of course, I am glad I didn’t have to resort to that.”
Lavinia blinked at those words,
“That… was your Plan B?”
“You have something better?”
Kael questioned back and Lavinia—
“…I don’t.”
She just shook her head.
In her mind however…
’Maybe I should have said no. It would have been fun to watch him take me away…’
She was having thoughts she would never say out loud. Slowly, her face began to burn and she quickly hid her face back into Kael’s chest before he could notice the red that had appeared.
Kael didn’t mind it either, since the woman was back in his arms, he simply tightened his hug again, this time, he even went a step further and kissed her forehead. Lavinia pressed her body with his and just like that, the two stayed in that position for a while, feeling each other’s heat as the cold outside brought them even closer.
After about five minutes—
“Look at you two, aren’t you being too shameless?”
A voice was heard, breaking the romantic silence.
Kael and Lavinia flinched at those words, Kael quickly looked above his head and there he saw her.
Vitaria standing with a big wide grin on her face, her tails fluttering excitedly, clearly, she was enjoying the sight she was witnessing.
And it wasn’t her alone—
Igni, Cirri, Imperia and even Nyrri, all of Kael’s children were standing behind her, even Lavinia’s spirits were no different and were watching the sight with big smiles on their faces.
Yes, the couple had a big audience.
“To think you two still aren’t moving away from each other, is this some sort of a statement?”
The Fox questioned, her purple eyes staring at the two with a mischievous light.
Kael and Lavinia flinched again, separating almost instantly. Soon however, Kael quickly gathered himself and—
“Why are you all out? Shouldn’t you be sleeping?”
He questioned in a strict tone, one that suited the ’Father of Dragons’ but…
This ’new’ Kael might work against the Council Elders but his children…? Especially Vitaria?
“Whaat? How could we be asleep when our Father is marrying someone? Shouldn’t the children have the first say in this matter? You should ask whether we even accept her as our Mother.
What if we want someone else?”
Absolutely not.
With just one question, the Fox riled up both her Father and future Mother.
“You… you don’t like her…??”
Kael questioned, looking straight at Igni for the answer. He obviously didn’t trust the Fox to get a serious answer.
“It is nothing like that, Father.”
Igni quickly shook his head, calming his father.
He then stared at Lavinia who was this close to crying and—
“I have seen how Lavinia took care of you and us, I do not mind calling her my Mother.”
The Dragon smiled.
Those words were quite grand, especially when they came from a Dragon who did not like mingling with humans. Even Lavinia stared at the Dragon with her eyes wide in surprise.
But then—
“Yes, she is at least better than others I have seen. I will allow her to spend the rest of her life with Father as long as she knows that I was Father’s first Princess.”
Cirri nodded, staring at Lavinia with narrow eyes.
“I-I will keep that in mind.”
Lavinia nodded desperately, for a reason she did not know, she felt a strong urge of wanting to win over every single one of them.
“Mama!”
Nyrri directly jumped on top of Lavinia, compared to his siblings, the Laviatharid did not mind being around humans, so accepting Lavinia as his mama wasn’t difficult for him.
He just wanted to make sure his mama caught him as he jumped on her, which, Lavinia, despite her small build, somehow managed and the child started licking her face.
“Mama! Mama! Mama! Nyrri accepts!”
Nyrri nodded with a big smile, his tail wagging left and right.
“So am I the only one who has a problem with her?”
The happy environment was suddenly affected by the Fox’s voice, as all eyes turned towards her, Vita raised her head in arrogance and—
“All of you may have accepted her, but she still hasn’t passed my tes—”
Slap
Before the Fox could complete her words, the Ant jumped on her head and hit her.
“You be silent, no one’s talking to you.”
Ria spoke as she glared at her sister.
“What!? Does my opinion not matter!?”
Vita retorted.
“It does not.”
The Ant shook her head.
Obviously, she wasn’t exactly suppressing her older sister, everyone, especially Ria, knew that Vita always had a soft spot for the Mage.
Heck, half of the reason their Father and Lavinia managed to come so close so quickly was because of Vitaria’s efforts. The Fox obviously liked the Mage, even Lavinia knew that. So she secretly stared at Fox and nodded at her, as if thanking her for everything she had done.
Seeing that gaze, Vitaria just closed her eyes and turned away—
“Whatever.”
Imperia too, stared at her Father and—
“So should we start the preparations for the wedding?”
The Ant questioned with a smile.
“Yes—”
Kael was about to nod but—
“Not now.”
Lavinia shook her head.
Then with Nyrri still in her hands, she walked closer to Kael and—
“It is not a time to hold a wedding right now.”
She spoke, looking at Kael with a solemn look on her face. Kael also understood what she was talking about. Too many things were happening, their exchange with Draksis, the ridge that had formed between them and the Iron Council, and the six soldiers that were killed by the Stormcallers.
A wedding at a time like this…
“The wedding doesn’t have to be here.
I can arrange it inside my Empire.”
Imperia suggested.
“We have more than enough resources to host a grand wedding.”
“We can not reveal the existence of the Empire to Velmourns. It is too important.”
Lavinia shook her head.
“We can host a wedding with just us but…”
Lavinia looked into Kael’s eyes and—
“I want the entire world to see that you belong to me.”
Kael blinked at those words, then, the same, even stronger feeling engulfed him.
“I agree.
The entire world needs to see this, not just Velmourns.”
He nodded as he continued to stare at his Lavinia and—
“And it is not like we have to marry right now, a marriage is just a formality, you are now stuck with me anyways, the only option of getting out of this you had was closed when you said yes.”
He spoke, his crystal blue eyes reflecting emotions they never showed before.
And Lavinia…
She stared at this man with a dumbfounded look on her face and—
“…you said you would have married me forcefully if I said no, what do you mean my only option of getting out of this—”
“Shhhh.”
Kael however, placed his finger on the woman’s lips, not letting her speak anymore.
“Don’t think too hard.”
He whispered softly and then—
“Ahem.”
Vita coughed, instantly making the two push each other out of instinct.
A reaction that made the Fox laugh out loud.
“Pfft—”
But then—
Slap
“Mind your actions.”
The Ant slapped her older, yet immature sister.
“You—”
Vita tried to retort, but in the end, the moment she saw Ria’s big eyes staring at her, she just snorted and turned silent.
“Every single one of them would be a lifeless robot if not for me…”
The Fox muttered to herself, then, she eyed her little sister secretly and—
“…should I find someone for her too? Maybe then I’ll be freer.”
