Dragon Monarch System - Chapter 986 986:- Duke Welsh and Viscountess Agatha

“Watson, do I have any meetings scheduled for today?” It was Watson who kept track of his schedules. With his memory, Aditya can almost remember everything. But he still gave that job to Watson.
“Your Majesty, you have granted an appointment to Duke Kane Welsh.”
“Welsh!” Hearing that name, Aditya couldn’t help but recall his little daughter Jennifer. His daughter is adorable.
Kane Welsh was the King of the Skyline Kingdom located in the Southern Region of the Dying Isle Continent. For more than a year, he chose to give up his Kingdom to the Istarin Empire and chose to walk away with his daughter.
Once the whole conflict within the Southern Region was over, he was appointed as the governor of the entire Skyline Kingdom, which is now the Skyline Province.
When he first started, he was given the Rank of a Marquess. But within a very short time, with sufficient contributions and merit, he rose through the ranks to become a Duke.
“When is the appointment scheduled?” Aditya asked.
“Actually, Duke Kane Welsh just arrived in Azure City. The meeting is scheduled to take place in more than 15 minutes.”
“Your Majesty should head to the Throne Hall.”
“Why? The living Room also works, right?” Aditya asked Watson.
Watson shook his head.
“Lady Julia’s orders. Either meet your visitors or guests at the Throne Hall or at the living room of the Old Palace in Azure City.” Hearing this, Aditya knew that there was no point in arguing anymore.
Nowadays, even if he had to show respect to his future wife’s command.
“Honestly, I am so happy that Lady Julia gave that order to me.”
“You too, Watson!!” Aditya pretended look kind of disappointed.
“Your Majesty, you are the Grand Emperor.”
“You are the Monarch whose very name puts fear in other Emperors and Kings.”
“You are the King of all Dragons.”
“Sometimes, I feel like Your Majesty does not truly realise how important your position is. It’s not just to the Empire, but to the entire world that watches you.”
Hearing this, Aditya could only nod his head.
–
–
“Sir Welsh, you have become even more handsome than the last time I saw you.” The last time the two met was during a Wedding ceremony of another Duke’s daughter.
Aditya briefly attended the wedding.
“Your Majesty, you are kind. Your words flatter me.” But Aditya wasn’t just flattering him. Now Kane Welsh looked much happier. He was radiating positive energy. His whole Demeaner had completely changed.
“How is Little Jennifer?”
“She is doing so much better now. Thank you for asking.”
“You should have bought her with you.” Aditya kind of missed her. Although he wasn’t ready to be a father yet, this did not mean he hated children.
“Your Majesty, she had an exam today.” Jennifer now attends the Royal Academy. Every single day, she comes to Azure City to attend classes.
“That’s wonderful to hear. I am genuinely happy for you two.”
“It’s all thanks to you, Your Majesty. You have given me a safe, secure, and stable life where I can raise my daughter without any worries.”
“Your Majesty, about today’s appointment.” It was he who requested this audience with the Emperor.
“Yes, go on!”
“Actually, I have found someone.” The smile on his face immediately made him understand the context.
“Ohhhh!!! Who is it?”
“Her name is Agatha.”
“Agatha?”
After a moment, he remembered.
In one of the Female Social gatherings that Julia and Alicia went to, they met a beautiful, gentle Viscount’s wife. Unfortunately, the Viscount died when he and his men went to Hunt Magic Animals in the forest.
Julia wanted Aditya to find someone to look after the Fragile Agatha. But that woman wasn’t as fragile as she appeared. She was strong enough to take the place of her late husband.
“So how did you two meet?”
“Agatha visited the Skyline Province, and I happened to meet her when I was out with my daughter.”
“My daughter separated from me and got lost. Agatha found her and coaxed her. It seems my daughter really likes her.”
“That’s wonderful. So when are you planning on making it official?” Aditya asked with a smile.
“I want to make her my wife as soon as possible, but there are some complications.”
‘Well, Agatha did inherit the place of her late husband. So now, she is a Viscountess.’ So the question is what happens to her title, territory, and authority?
“Well, Welsh, if you two did get married, then Viscountess Agatha will still have her territory and her title. Since the territory you manage and she manages are far away, merging both territories into one isn’t a good solution.”
“After marriage, Viscountess Agatha can appoint a High Steward to govern daily matters. Using teleportation arrays, she can travel between territories every single day.”
Hearing this, Welsh was relieved. A small part of him was worried that Aditya might force Agatha to abdicate her title and territory.
“Since in the noble hierarchy, a wife takes the husband’s higher rank socially.”
“Once you marry her, Legally, She is Viscountess.”
But Socially, She is Duchess Welsh”
“Thank you, Your Majesty!” Welsh couldn’t be happier with everything. He had no complaints about this arrangement.
After Welsh took his leave, Aditya did not leave. He just lazily streched his limbs.
Once again, Aditya felt that life had become good, but he also knew that this peace was only temporary. Until the organization wasn’t taken out, he won’t have real Peace anytime soon.
“But for that peace, I must continue to work harder.”
“Work Harder for what?” Just then, Athena entered the Throne Hall.
Just at the other side of the throne hall, her gaze locked with his. Both continued staring at each other.
“It has been a while.” Aditya was the first to smile before standing up to step down from the stairs to receive her. This was not because he feared her. This was purely out of love and respect for his woman. This had nothing to do with pride, ego, or his Status as the Emperor.
“No, it has only been like 6 and a half days.”
“But I still missed you.” This was Laura speaking from Athena. Or Laura and Athena speaking as one.
The moment he stepped down, she disappeared. She effortlessly covered almost the 95-meter distance of the Hall. Athena appeared in front of him within a second with a small warm smile.
“I missed you more.” He pulled her into his embrace.
“By the way, I heard that you recently took half of the Radiant Empire’s territory. I must say I am impressed by your way of doing things.” Aditya could only awkwardly laugh. It wasn’t that he was greedy for more territories. He already had too much land.
Taking half of the Radiant Empire’s territory did not put any burden on the Istarin Empire. If anything, it only strengthened it.
From the outside, some might think that absorbing such a vast land would put pressure on the Emperor, as it would mean more cities to manage, more people to control, and more systems to stabilise. But that was not the case. The Istarin Empire already had a well-established administrative structure. The system that Aditya and Spencer had created was efficient and organised. It was designed to handle growth.
So when the new territory was integrated, it did not feel like a weight. It felt like an expansion of possibilities.
The newly acquired land opened many doors for the citizens of Istarin.
Trade routes expanded. New markets became accessible. Resources that were once controlled by the Radiant Empire now flowed under Istarin’s authority. Merchants gained access to new cities. Farmers gained access to fertile lands. Skilled workers found new opportunities in larger urban centres that were already developed.
And the most important thing was this was that this new territory could sustain itself.
It did not require heavy financial support from the Royal Treasury. On the contrary, it began generating its own revenue almost immediately. Taxes collected from its cities and trade hubs were stable and organised. The mines, fishery industry, farms, and workshops that had existed under the Radiant Empire continued to function without interruption.
Aditya did not change anything. The system that Emperor Rowan created was already highly refined and efficient, built on centuries of experience.
In fact, after covering its own administrative and military expenses, the territory even supplied the Royal Treasury with so much excess revenue.
Unlike newly conquered wild lands, this newly integrated land was not a broken or undeveloped region.
There was no need for Aditya to spend time, money, and resources building roads, constructing defensive walls, or establishing new governance systems from scratch. The infrastructure was already there. Cities were properly planned. Roads connected major regions. Trade ports operated efficiently. Even the defensive structures were strong and well-maintained.
In the defensive structures, he still felt some adjustments and improvements could be made. But that wasn’t necessary for now, and this could be done without rushing.
All of this had been built by Emperor Rowan over many centuries. Rowan had invested countless resources, manpower, and time into shaping the Radiant Empire. Generation after generation had worked to strengthen its foundation.
And now, all of that effort belonged to Aditya.
The most remarkable part was that under Rowan’s rule, the nobles had always remained disciplined and obedient. Corruption was far less common than in neighbouring empires, and most nobles understood their limits and responsibilities. Because of this, when they were offered the chance to retain their territories, authority, titles, and privileges in exchange for pledging loyalty to a new Emperor and to serve him and only him, almost all of them accepted without hesitation. In fact, nearly 99.9% of the nobles, regardless of their rank or order, immediately switched their allegiance.
As a result, the integration process was smoother than anyone had expected. With proper supervision and minor adjustments to align with Istarin’s laws, the transition remained stable.
In the end, instead of becoming a burden, half of the Radiant Empire’s territory became a powerful addition to the Istarin Empire. It had become part of the Empire’s vast territory, increasing economic stability, expanding influence, and strengthening the long-term foundation of the Istarin Empire.
