Dual Cultivation God Returns - Chapter 792 792: Dawn of a New Age

“Unbelievable…”, Yu Huan closely examined the medicinal plant, checking the small wooden tablet with the date on it that was stuck into the soil next to the plant.
Wei Lan was hiding her face in Wu Long’s chest, though even her ears which were still visible were red.
“Whoa… “, Gong Cui freely expressed her wonder at such a development.
“Hmm, from the looks of it, Sister Wei Lan was unconsciously projecting the power of her Earth Qi as she worked in this garden even before the sudden enlightenment…”, Nie Xiwang, having little interest in gardens, and therefore being here for the first time, spoke as she looked at the plants around with her Truth-Seeking Eyes.
“Only that would explain it”, Yu Huan nodded, “The growth of these plants is definitely unusual”
“Does this have any side effects?”, Sui Luxiao carefully asked, not seeking to undermine Wei Lan, but making sure it didn’t have any hidden consequences.
“As far as I can tell, this process depletes the nutrients of the soil faster, so it would need more fertilizers and would require us to periodically give rest to the land”, Yu Huan said as she was also seeing if there was anything not noticeable from the first glance, “But as far as the plant itself, it is hard to tell. I don’t see any irregularities other than the heightened growth rate, at around 15% to 20% added speed of growth, and exceptionally high quality. I would need to test it in Alchemy to be able to tell more”
“Fertilizers huh, I guess we could finally profit from acquiring some Beasts of Burden now…”, Wu Long nodded. They were already going to buy a few, but now they had an additional purpose.
It was generally a hassle to maintain Beasts of Burden because they required large amounts of feed, constant care for their health, and those large amounts of feed transformed into almost equally large amounts of waste that most people did not want to deal with. All in all, the upkeep costs piled up over time, so every moment it was idle was a waste.
That was why the absolute majority of people preferred to rent Beasts of Burden along with the Beast Tamers to control them from dedicated groups rather than keep their own. Even most Trading Companies did not have a large private fleet of Beasts of Burden, renting the majority of what they used for logistics.
“The only problem would be farming enough feed, we don’t really have a large farming force… hmm…”, Sui Luxiao traced her chin with her delicate fingers.
Their medicinal fields were largely tended to by Yu Huan’s Mystic Flame Pavilion, but that was only because they were relatively small.
Not that many actually useful and precious medicinal ingredients could be grown in short time spans, until now, that is.
However, to constantly feed a decent sized fleet of Beasts of Burden they had to have large fields in order to not be reliant on buying it out of house.
“We do have people”, Cao Xiang spoke, adding “After all, Wu Long listened to my unreasonable request, and brought the families of my and Mei’er ‘s subordinates, those who were formerly Liugwei Liberation Army, with us”
“The same goes for the families of our Feng Family’s warriors”, Feng Yi added.
“And our Luo Family as well”, Luo Mingyu smiled.
“And the families of the Soaring Feather Trading Company’s employees”, Sui Luxiao nodded.
“And some of my subordinates who would find it hard to remain in the Tingren Kingdom with me gone”, Cai Yin spoke a bit shyly.
“Same for my Father’s subordinates from the Azure Eagle Empire”, Song Lingfei chimed in.
These people, including many of the rescued victims of Lust Cultivators who did not find a place within the Eternal Duality Valley or among the Wu Family’s retainers, permanently lived within the Dream Realm, occupying a different territory, far away from the Sect, in a city simply called the Mystic Realm City, built within a quaint and beautiful valley, by a large river.
Of course, members of the Valley had opportunities to take a leave to visit the Mystic Realm City, within reason in regards to their duties.
They were self-sufficient, having people of nearly all trades, since there were almost four times the number of them than the members of the Eternal Duality Valley excluding the portion that remained in the Boundless Mortal World who for the most part did not have families or were long estranged from them.
In fact, the administration of this city also was under the responsibilities of Song Minfu. Though the brunt of that burden fell onto Chu Ren, his trusted right-hand man and Song Lingfei’s adoptive uncle on her mother’s side.
The citizens of the Mystic Realm City were in fact already heavily engaged in farming.
One reason was because even though their cultivation gradually rose – assisted by their family members within the Valley, since their salaries were actually partially paid in cultivation resources for their family members – all of them were still Mortals, the absolute majority of whom did not reach Mortal Transcendence Realm, and thus required sustenance.
There were those among them who were still children, and aspired to one day enter Eternal Duality Valley like their fathers, mothers, or siblings, so it could be said that this city was also the source of future talent for the Sect.
It was also because of this city that Wu Long did not have to worry about recruiting someone who had a family like the Forging Masters working for the Kai Family.
“You want to expand the number of Sect Retainers”, Wu Long said, understanding what they meant, as there were quite a lot of people within the city who struggled to find a purpose other than constantly cultivating with no real goal in sight.
He has been receiving reports from Song Minfu that there were growing numbers of people from the Mystic Realm City asking for some kind of jobs within the Valley.
Those reports also specified that there were no tasks to provide them with.
Not to mention that adding members to the Valley, even from within the city, was under close scrutiny and strict control of the Wu Family, so even if there were tasks that required more people, Song Minfu couldn’t just randomly bring people in.
However, if these people were employed in farming – especially now that they might have the incentive to not only create farms for Beast feed but to expand their main medicinal fields for Alchemy and Forging with Wei Lan’s abilities – and tending to the Beasts of Burden, at some location built outside the Valley, perhaps somewhere in between the Sect and the city, there would be almost no high-risk intelligence security concerns.
After a short internal calculation, Wu Long inwardly nodded, agreeing that the plan would solve most of their problems. But he didn’t yet announce any decision.
He knew from the beginning that at one point in time, when the population of the city would naturally start growing, that there would rise a need to balance the scales, as the city would have to provide some sort of benefit to the Sect in order for the Sect to continue supporting its life of peace and prosperity.
But he didn’t think that the moment would arrive so soon, when the population did not even have time to grow.
From this point on, there would appear an internal economy between the Mystic Realm City and the Valley, as those working the Beast feed farms and Beast pastures would receive some kind of reimbursement for their work, which they would spend in the city, the city would also likely start giving some kind of tax to the Valley, and so on.
In short, the Mystic Realm would enter a new age, with all of the complications that entailed, but most of those problems would also be falling onto Song Minfu’s shoulders, so he only inwardly wished his Father-in-Law good luck and decided to not worry about it.
His only concern was that this time he would really be tying Fen Baihu’s Dream Realm into the operation of the Sect on a permanent basis, not to mention that the way this was going, her Dream Realm would become a de facto country, even if it would not be independent or have any meaningful political system other than the absolute rule of the Eternal Duality Valley, and that would be hard to reverse the further along this trend continued.
Thus, he still had some things to consider.
