Endless Evolution: Last Star - Chapter 1639 1639: Glare of Final Determination

Adam saw what the Dark Energy was capable of, not only from Zargos, who used this power to become stronger, but also from Tron, who, like any K4-Phantom of his level, was supposed to possess this power.
However, he faced a problem he hadn’t expected. He had to make a choice, since he could only influence one ability.
In fact, Adam took this as seriously as possible. Thus, he had been sitting at the table for ten minutes with a pensive expression.
The problem was that, unlike the Ancient Energy, which provided a general boost to both a simple punch and his most powerful ability, the Dark Energy created a dark version of the chosen ability.
Changing this decision was impossible at Adam’s power level, and he didn’t know what effects the dark version of his chosen ability would possess.
Moreover, he had a few more questions:
“You said I can change any ability – does that mean my Nexus, too?” Adam asked.
Tron shook his head.
“Not exactly. If your Nexus has a primary ability, directing the Dark Energy there will alter that ability, but not your Nexus itself. In other words, the Dark Energy won’t create a dark version of your Nexus.”
“I see…” Adam pondered with a deep look. “So, aside from exceptions, this isn’t very effective.”
In response, Tron nodded. “Yes, I’d say it’s a waste to spend such power to get an incomplete result.”
Then, Adam pointed at Silvana.
“What about her? She and I share some abilities. Can I influence them?”
Tron waved his hand. “Sure. After all, all these abilities are in your inner space and are part of your Evolution Tree.”
“Adam, do you want to change one of our abilities?” Silvana looked at him.
“Yeah, I think that of all the abilities I have, this one would be the best candidate. Not the first, but the second one.”
She nodded, realizing which ability he was talking about. After all, she had created this ability while working on his Energy Axis as he was in a life-threatening battle.
“In that case, I advise you to do it right now. You might need a few tries to fully master your new ability. Dark Energy takes a long time to recharge, so you should save time.”
Adam looked at Tron as determination flashed in his eyes.
“Sure. Right now, this is my best shot.”
Then, he closed his eyes, immersing himself in his inner space.
Last time, Silvana made the choice. She changed one of the abilities in the Evolution Vein, but now it was Adam’s turn.
Step. Step. Step.
He walked through the darkness toward the Evolution Vein, bright and full of power, just like his and Silvana’s.
“Alright, let’s see what comes of this.”
With one hand, Adam touched the Evolution Vein while he stretched his other hand out to the side.
The Dark Energy hovering at the top of his Evolution Tree trembled and split into two parts, large and small.
The small part continued to spin around the white orb, while the large one settled above Adam’s palm.
“Future of the Past… It’s a powerful ability. It’s good even now. But, of all that I have, I see potential only in this one.” “
Adam chose this ability not because he hoped to make his energy spears stronger or learn to create hundreds of them with a snap of his fingers. He was looking for something unique, something that would help him win even in the most difficult battle.
Perhaps he was wrong, but he couldn’t know the outcome in advance. That was the price he had to pay for using the Dark Energy.
Tap.
Adam placed his second hand on the Evolution Vein as the Dark Energy flowed inside, in a black flash heading toward the second cluster of many roots full of energy.
At the same moment, Adam’s eyes turned black as night, and the changes manifested in the real world, leaving his inner space.
…
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
The Dark Energy flowed out of Adam as Tron’s eyes narrowed.
“It’s begun. Silvana, step away from him. A random pulse could harm you even if you’re its Operator.”
She nodded and did so without a word. The Dark Energy was their trump card, but a dangerous one for both sides.
However, nothing destructive happened as Adam’s aura gradually stabilized. The dark mist ran in a thin layer over his body until it completely vanished.
[The Dark Energy created a version of your ability – Future of the Past.]
[The dark version – Glare of Final Determination.]
Tron stared at him.
“Are you ready to try out your new ability?”
Adam nodded deeply.
“Yes. Let’s do this. But… If I don’t know what this ability is capable of, how are we going to create a suitable target for it?”
In response, Tron shrugged nonchalantly.
“I’ll handle it. Here’s what we’ll do – I’ll be your target. First, you’ll use the common version of your ability against me, then the dark version. That way, we’ll see what you’re capable of now, and you won’t have to worry about the target being unsuitable.”
Adam smiled slightly.
“Great, that’s exactly what I need.”
Adam knew nothing about his new ability except its name. Usually, he received all the information at once. It just appeared in his mind, but not this time.
Step.
Tron and Adam stood facing each other. The distance between them was sufficient for a fair fight, though Tron had no intention of fighting seriously. Also, he didn’t lower his power level. His aura was just as powerful as before.
“Begin.” Riska waved her hand.
Without hesitation, Adam leaped upward as his energy gathered in his hand. Soon, the massive white spear appeared in his grip, the purple tip glowing brightly while a golden flame left a trail behind it.
He used as much star energy as this ability could draw.
Tron nodded, watching the ripples spread through the air.
“Be ready!” Adam exclaimed before throwing his spear.
At tremendous speed, the white spear streaked through the Sky Cube, crashing down on Tron with all its power.
However, Tron had no intention of dodging or running away. His goal was to test just how strong Adam was, especially with his usual abilities.
‘Let’s see what he’s capable of.’
Tron thrust his arm forward as a glass barrier, dense and heavy, formed from his energy.
Normally, no barrier would stand in the way of the white spear, but not this time.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
White sparks flew off to the sides as the spear tried to destroy the glass barrier. Cracks appeared on the surface, but Tron immediately repaired them, not letting the spear advance even a single step.
In the end, the white spear lost its energy and dissipated, the streams flashing before Tron’s eyes.
“Not bad, not bad at all.”
He waved his hand.
“If another K4-Phantom were in my place, but one or two levels weaker, this attack would have caused them trouble. Now…” His eyes grew darker. “Show me your new ability.”
Silvana and Riska turned to Adam. Curiosity was evident in their eyes, especially Silvana’s, since she had created the base version of this ability.
“Sure.”
Adam nodded and stepped back, kicking up a cloud of dust.
The white gloves on his hands trembled and turned black. It seemed as though they had simply changed color, but when Adam’s dark aura awoke, the gloves transformed.
A red eye symbol appeared on his gloves. Now, the eyes were closed, in a dormant state, but it wouldn’t stay that way forever.
“Oh, new gloves?” Tron raised his chin. “But, what for?”
Adam swung his arm back and, just like before, leaped high into the air.
Streams of dark energy rushed past his fingers, thin and weak compared to his star energy. Still, they formed the black spear. It trembled and resembled shreds of dark mist more than a fearsome weapon.
Adam’s pupils narrowed as all his muscles tensed before the throw. At the same moment, the eye symbols on his gloves opened.
The red light shot out in rays before striking Tron – their sole target.
Whooooooosh.
Adam threw the black spear, which possessed even greater speed than the white one.
Without a word, Tron stepped forward, creating a barrier just as he had last time. His face showed no emotion.
‘Is that all? Did his spear just get faster?’ he thought. ‘Even if that’s the case… he couldn’t have known what the Dark Energy would do.’
Crack.
The black spear slammed into the glass barrier. Now it was all over.
Tremble.
The black spear trembled as it vanished, shattering into streams.
“W-What…?” Silvana was confused.
In the next moment, Tron’s eyes widened as the black spear formed right before his eyes.
‘Huh? When did that happen?!’ he exclaimed inwardly.
With his next heartbeat, it pierced his neck. For now, dodging Adam’s spear was impossible.
The red eyes fixed their gaze on Tron. He had nowhere to run.
