Endless Evolution: Last Star - Chapter 1640 1640: Black Spear

Tron didn’t sense any threat from Adam’s new ability. He realized that the black spear was most likely an upgraded version of the white one, but he didn’t see anything unusual except for the red eye symbols on Adam’s gloves.
That is why he decided to block this spear in the same way as the last one — using the glass barrier.
Strangely enough, he managed to do so without difficulty, until…
The black spear didn’t destroy the glass barrier. It just vanished and reappeared on the other side of the barrier.
Now, Tron had a split second to react. Otherwise, the black spear would pierce his throat. He wasn’t strong enough to ignore it.
Fortunately for Tron, that was enough time for him.
Crack.
Channeling his energy into his legs, Tron leaped to the side.
The black spear whizzed past his neck, leaving a shallow cut.
‘No way!’ he exclaimed inwardly as drops of blood flew before his eyes. ‘What happened to that spear?! Did it teleport? Yes… That’s exactly what happened.’
Whoooooosh.
Tron spun around sharply, a cloud of dust rising behind him.
He hadn’t known this would happen, but now he could breathe a sigh of relief.
“I see, so now if there’s an obstacle in front of his spear, it’ll just pass right through it. The main thing is that the spear moves in a straight line toward the target, and to do that, his spear will use any means necessary.”
Tron watched the black spear as it continued moving forward. He expected that soon the black spear would dissipate or crash into the wall of the Sky Cube.
But… Something caught his attention.
“Agh?”
He turned, looking at the red light emanating from the eye symbols on Adam’s gloves. The eyes blinked once, and the black spear trembled.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Instead of disappearing, the black spear turned into a blur before reappearing in another part of the Sky Cube, now moving toward Tron from the left side.
Tron’s eyes narrowed as his expression grew more serious.
‘I see, it’s not just a straight line. This spear will keep changing its trajectory until it reaches me, right?’
He glanced at Adam. ‘Of course, I could reach out and rip those gloves off him — that would likely end that ability, but what’s the point in all that?’
Tron had a few ideas, but before moving on to them, he wanted to confirm something else.
‘Let’s see just how badly this spear wants to reach me.’
Step!
At the last moment, Tron took a step back as the black spear whizzed right past his chest.
As soon as the black spear realized it had missed, it trembled again and appeared on the other side, heading toward Tron once more, but… this time something was different.
The corners of Tron’s mouth turned up as he watched the tremor rippling through the air from the black spear.
‘It’s gotten faster, and Adam’s red eyes didn’t even have to do anything to influence that. Hah, unlike my ability, this one will only get stronger over time. All to hit its target?’
Whooooosh! Whoooosh! Whooooosh!
Clearly, Tron was stronger than Adam. The difference between them was several levels. Thus, with his original strength and speed, it was no trouble for Tron to dodge the black spear a few more times.
However, after the fifth time, the red eyes flashed once more, bringing changes to the black spear.
Tron smirked as he looked at the crimson flame that enveloped the edges of the black spear.
“Good, have we moved on to the next level? It’s like I’m playing a game!”
Now, the black spear no longer teleported to change its trajectory, instead, it attacked Tron from a distance, following a straight line.
Like a homing missile, the black spear curved, changing its direction, and its speed exceeded all of Tron’s expectations.
All he managed to notice was the crimson-black flame before the black spear appeared right in front of his face.
Sure, most likely, Tron was fast enough to dodge even from such a position, but his intuition told him to make a different decision.
‘So you won’t fall behind me even if I dodge for an hour? Fine, then I’ll just make you hit the wrong target!’
Click!
Tron snapped his fingers as a glass fragment appeared before him, perfectly round with a purple hue on its surface.
This mirror was meant to reflect any attack, and even the black spear was no exception.
Tremble!
As soon as the spear tip touched the mirror, the ripple flung the spear aside.
Tron’s plan was simple: he wanted the black spear to crash into a rock or a wall, so that it would no longer pursue him.
However…
“What the…”
The crimson flame flared brighter, causing the black spear to become even faster as it turned into a dark blur, vanishing right before Tron’s eyes.
This wasn’t teleportation like before, but a completely different level of speed as the pressure from above forced him to look up.
The spear continued moving and was now several times larger, blazing with the crimson flame.
“Shit.”
Silvana, who was watching from the sidelines, was filled with curiosity.
‘Hmm, so the black spear not only pursues its target, but becomes stronger and faster if it can’t take it down right away? But…’ She narrowed her eyes. ‘Is it worth it? The white spear possesses immense power upon impact. Just how dangerous is the black spear?’
Even if it were impossible to dodge the black spear, it could prove a useless ability if the price for that mistake wasn’t high enough. Only if the damage proved critical could this ability justify the Dark Energy spent on its creation.
Adam stood in midair the whole time, watching Tron’s attempts to explore every aspect of his new ability.
‘Tron, the fact that you happened to be my target is a stroke of luck. But I’m afraid you won’t be able to avoid getting hurt.’
However, Tron clearly had no intention of giving up as he threw his arm up and his eyes shone brightly.
In the next moment, dozens of mirrors appeared around the black spear, enclosing it in a sphere from which there was no escape.
