Chapter 853: Heavenly Demon Conclave
—
The rise of the demon race within the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm took all of its citizens by surprise.
None of them saw it coming. In fact, most of them didn’t even know what demons were in the first place. The ones who knew about them were their leaders—the ones who sat on the thrones of the Black Pegasus Union, and these people ignored their existence for the most part, which gave demons the chance to stage a comeback.
It’s not that they weren’t wary about accepting the demon race into their fold. The union knew who they were and what they could do. It’s just that their miserable state upon arrival, and the aura of losers and general defeat, lowered the union’s guard.
In their eyes, they weren’t convinced that a few thousand demons could do anything worthwhile. Sure, the infernal energy they wield was dangerous because it could corrupt anything it touches, but with so few of them, it shouldn’t have been possible for them to make huge advances without alarming the union first.
At least, that’s what they thought.
They didn’t imagine that all it took was for one young and very curious Infernal to be infected for the rest to fall apart.
Now, the Black Pegasus Union was no more. In its place now stood the Heavenly Demon Conclave, led by none other than the second coming of the Demon God—Irma Goldtooth, himself.
Now, at least 70% of the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm’s citizens had been driven mad by infernal energy. 100% of its population had been turned into demons themselves.
The awful, corrupted, and merciless presence of the infernal energy permeated each corner of this realm, making it impossible for anybody to resist its influence.
Nobody was spared. Even the most hidden and secluded clans and places within the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm had been invaded and corrupted by infernal energy, turning whoever and whatever was hiding in them into demons.
Endless carnage, slaughter, and madness flooded the entire chaos realm. And in here, only demons are allowed to exist. Anyone who’s not yet turned will eventually fall as well; it’s only a matter of time.
Irma never imagined that he’d come this far. He who had been hailed as a loser and a reluctant survivor, becoming the second coming of the Demon God? This was a dream that he never dared to have.
Yet now, he sits upon the very throne himself. Overlooking the entire Black Pegasus Chaos Realm, which was now painted with the colors of demons and only demons.
Furthermore, Irma wasn’t just a figurehead with no fangs. When he was hailed as the second coming of the Demon God, that wasn’t just some saying or some rumors that served no aid to his actual strength, no.
He had become an actual demon god. As in the lives of every demon under his rule were his to decide and might very well depend on his whims.
Irma bears the faith of his entire race. Every blood drawn, injuries made, kill count, slaughter permitted…everything was done in his name and in his glory.
Their rituals and their faith weren’t just empty belief; they had real substance. Especially when there are billions who are doing it on a daily basis.
The accumulation of all this caused his own evolution to skyrocket. And before long, he had reached the same level as the Human Sovereigns themselves.
And it wasn’t just him. He didn’t rule this entire chaos realm on his own. He had picked his followers, those who had sworn undying loyalty and faith to him.
His sharpest blade? It’s the original demons who came here with him and the Infernal Race who accepted them. They were his first and foremost confidants on the surface, slaves underneath.
They are the first who answer his calls and execute his orders. They would even gladly take their own lives if he ordered them to. That’s how loyal they were to him.
And even if they weren’t, so long as they’ve been turned into demons, they wouldn’t be able to escape his grasp anyway. That’s because he’s the Demon God, and that title was far from being just that.
Sitting upon his throne, Irma swept his gaze upon his loyal subjects, who all knelt in front of him.
He would be lying when he said that this didn’t please him because it sure as hell does. This was something that his past self couldn’t even dream of, yet now, it’s happening and is very real.
“How are things progressing?” he asked them.
And so, one by one, in order of seniority, his people began reporting their progress to him.
As it stands, there’s a lot to be desired when it comes to their progress as a race.
It had only been hundreds of thousands of years since Irma sat upon this throne, and his first order was to fully prevent the news of his ascension from leaking out of this Chaos Realm.
He didn’t want humans knocking on his doors just yet. His main priority was to stabilize his position and establish a firm rule right away. That had taken a while, and they were mostly undefended against outsiders during that time, yet fortunately, they were able to make it through that phase and shift their attention to more internal progress.
Irma had been as careful as he could, which was a bit uncharacteristic for a demon, but he’s no ordinary demon either. He knows just how frightening their neighbors were, and he didn’t want them interfering with what he had going on here; that’s why he took things slow and methodical.
He listened to their reports attentively and was relieved when he discovered that everything was according to schedule.
But as much as he’s in a hurry to wage war against humans in the name of revenge, he, of all demons, knew just how far behind his own people were.
Humans had been a sovereign race for far longer than his tenure as the new demon god. It would be utterly foolish and unbecoming of him to immediately march to the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm with his army just to seek revenge.
Humans will torch him and his army quite easily; that, he had no doubts about. After all, he had personally witnessed how his predecessors and their allies paid for underestimating them.
No. Revenge will come. Hopefully soon, but Irma’s not holding his breath.
His main priority was to bring prosperity to his kind and thoroughly instill demonic influence into every nook and cranny of this chaos realm.
Once he and his people are powerful enough, he’d personally lead the charge to Heavenly Star and wipe out humanity with his own hands. For now, though, he’s stuck here.
The reports have concluded, and for the most part, he was satisfied with everything.
Their progress was slow; that much was clear. Well, they can’t really have it all. Most importantly, they’re not humans who progress at an incredible pace; it would also be wrong to hold his people to those standards.
But this was fine. So long as progress was being made, he could make peace with it.
“And what about our envoys? Has anybody received word from them? Did they arrive safely at their destination?” he asked.
One of his ministers stepped forward, and Irma could see him sweating coldly under his gaze, which gave him a foreboding feeling.
“About that, your holiness…I’m afraid that the envoys we sent out have encountered some…accidents.”
Irma’s eyes narrowed dangerously. And this small gesture caused the temperature within the room to drop significantly, making it colder.
Everybody felt it and shivered. The others started praying for this brave minister’s sake because he’s walking on a very thin edge of a cliff right now.
“Explain,” Irma stated.
“Yes, your holiness…our contact with our envoys has gone cold. And due to protocols, we strongly believe they’ve gone to hell by now.”
’Going to hell’ means something very different in the ears of demons. It means that the subject had died.
“I recall sending them to the Crimson Womb Universe to seek partnership. Were they at least able to arrive there to pass on the message?
“Yes, your holiness. They did. Alas…” The minister paled and looked physically ill.
It’s as if admitting their failure physically pains him as well.
“I assumed they’ve been devoured, then.”
This wasn’t a question or a trick. It’s a mix of statement, declaration, and logical deduction.
“I’m afraid so, your holiness,” the minister replied, confirming his guesses.
Irma was silenced.
Honestly, he wasn’t surprised. The Horde had always been this cold, ruthless, and unreasonable against creatures they thought were lower than them.
Though the demons are not ready for a direct confrontation or war against humans. Irma wouldn’t be at peace if he didn’t at least do something to hurt them now that he had the ability to do so.
Which paved the way to the idea of allying with the Horde.
Alas, it seems that the Horde wasn’t keen on working with them unless they could prove something.
“Your Holiness, if I may…”
“Go ahead.”
“I have every reason to believe that our envoys had been assaulted before they were able to pass on your regards to the Empress.”
Irma looked at his minister with a curious glint in his eyes.
