Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking - Chapter 859: Irma’s ’Glorious’ Plan

Chapter 859: Irma’s ’Glorious’ Plan
—
’What a loser…’ Cedric mused inwardly.
He had left the side of the so-called Demon God’s successor after combing through his memories without him even knowing about it. Now, Cedric sat on the vacuum of space, hovering unseen above the most ’prosperous’ world where Irma resided.
Cedric wasn’t one to be arrogant. He had his moments, sure, but even in those moments, he’s just that confident of his skills. He doesn’t often disdain his enemies, but currently, he couldn’t help it against this man.
Don’t get him wrong; Cedric respects his hustle. In a way, the revival of the demon race through Irma’s hands mirrors the way Cedric himself staged a comeback for humans back when they were still contained within the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm. The only difference is that Cedric didn’t corrupt everybody. He chose the path of co-existence instead.
But this so-called Demon God’s successor sure thought too highly of himself. He actually thought that he had the prestige and power to ’negotiate’ with the Bug Empress of all things. And this was him knowing enough about the matters of the Primitive Universe.
Where exactly did he get the confidence to think that the Bug Empress will hear him out? Where did he get the confidence to think that he had something that would attract her attention?
Hell, he probably doesn’t even reach half of her age. The Bug Empress had seen and had it all; what exactly could he offer that could make her consider ’teaming up’ with them to deal with humans?
Well, Cedric already knew the answer to that, and it is nothing, obviously.
Cedric had combed through Irma’s memory. He had learned he planned on fooling the Bug Empress into buying his and his people’s loyalty, making her think that she had them at her beck and call, especially when it comes to harassing and/or killing humans. With the combined might of her army and theirs, he imagined that uprooting humanity’s foundation and killing every single one of them would be easier this time.
And then, when it was time for them to divide the spoils that humanity leaves behind in their extinction, the demons would then bare their fangs on the Horde and eradicate them too.
That way, the Demon Race will now occupy three of the five known chaos realms, reaching unprecedented heights of power, becoming a true and uncontested sovereign race.
He will achieve all of this through his efforts, and he will be hailed as the greatest demon god to ever exist. He’ll live lifetimes’ worth of glory and prestige, his name will be etched in the annals of history, and his legends will be sung millions of years even after his death.
That’s his entire plan.
And how laughable it was because for such a delicate and, practically, very delusional plan, he sure didn’t do too much to guard it very closely. Cedric easily saw through it, and he wasn’t even trying.
Truly, he thought too highly of himself. And Cedric could confidently say this because he could see multiple glaring flaws in this plan.
Most of them were small matters that could add up into real trouble for this whole plan to go smoothly, but the main ones are:
1. The Horde’s and the humans’ way of neutralizing Infernal Energy.
This was his/their main and biggest problem. Humans have long devised a way to completely trivialize what makes the Demon Race truly formidable. And even if they were to use more potent forms of Infernal Energy, humans could and would easily build another counter to that anyway, so it’s useless.
There’s no need to even think about the Horde. So long as the hive mind of theirs is intact, there will be no corrupting the bugs. If anything, it’s the demons that should be afraid of being corrupted and/or eaten. Especially since it’s practically impossible for them to match the Horde’s army.
Outnumbering the Horde was simply impossible.
2. Intelligence
Irma’s plan was bold, audacious, even. Cedric will give him that. But he’s a little too eager and optimistic, isn’t he?
From combing his memories, Cedric knew that Irma wasn’t fond of contingencies. He just assumes that everything will fall into place. That everything will happen according to his plan, like he’s the chosen son of the Supreme Will.
Not to toot his own horn, but even the youngest child of the Stormrider Clan could build a more elaborate plan than this, one that is several degrees better than Irma could create after centuries of planning.
You’d think that with his experiences and many life-and-death crises, Irma would be wiser. Cedric felt refreshed to know that he could be wrong. Intelligence simply wasn’t the Demon Race’s strong trait, it seems.
And finally…
3. Army.
Although the demon race had staged a comeback through a shortcut. They don’t count as a true sovereign race just yet. They don’t have enough time, experience, and wisdom to actually count as one. Brute forcing their way through the position works but doesn’t count.
Irma was in such a hurry to prove himself and to announce his achievements that he overlooked the size of his actual army.
Sure, about 70% of his population were raving mad demons that would kill and taint everything around them, but using them was a double-edged sword. His hopes of building a strong and disciplined army were practically impossible.
And even then, the amount he could gather simply won’t be enough to actually matter. Both the elite army of the Horde and humans greatly outnumber them.
Moreover, the elites of both the Horde and humans had a lot of practice over the years of clashing against each other.
Hell, a squad of 20 Space Marines could be sent here, and they’d probably be enough to destabilize Irma’s rule. They alone would sunder worlds, planets, and large swathes of demons on their own. And they’d probably be able to retreat before Irma even knew what they did.
And the Horde? Easy. They just need to deposit a single nest in some random corner of this place, leave, and come back a few years later to discover that the entirety of the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm had become a large nest of bugs.
These were the main problems that Irma didn’t know or just refused to address. He completely believes that his plan will, somehow, go as he intended it to be. Like a divine intervention was fully expected if, somehow, his plan derailed.
Cedric almost wanted to laugh, and he would’ve if he wasn’t wary of being discovered. Irma was too simple-minded, and it’s hilarious.
He doesn’t even have an idea how strong the Human Sovereigns have become. He doesn’t even know what Origin Laws were. He thinks he has already reached the peak of his power, completely unaware that he still has a long way to go.
The best part is that he thinks that the Bug Empress had no reason to refuse him. He was fully expecting her to be intimidated into an agreement with him as if she wasn’t capable of just swallowing him whole and digesting him without even bothering to chew.
It’s cute, really, how he thinks that he’s ’The One’ when it’s the truth. He’s just a clown with delusions of grandeur. A defeated loser who got lucky and was not eager to reclaim his nonexistent reputation.
Hell, he didn’t even sense Urek snooping around here, and he’s ’technically’ the weakest of the Human Sovereigns.
Yes, Cedric felt his presence. Thumbs-up to that guy; his tracks were very faint, and Cedric would’ve ignored them if he didn’t just come from a fresh breakthrough in his skills.
His traces here did tell Cedric that the Human Sovereigns are likely aware of what’s happening here.
Had Urek felt a little mischievous during his time, he could easily trap Irma into a long and inescapable illusion that would leave him incapacitated and make the demon race headless for a long time, which will greatly slow down their progress.
Hell, Cedric himself could do something better!
All it would take was for him to sneeze next to Irma and uncontrollably release some of his origin sword law fluctuations, and this so-called Demon God will be sliced into fine atoms before Cedric even recovers from his sneeze.
Simply put, Irma was nothing but a pest who thinks too highly of himself. A self-crowned demon god unaware of the immensity of heaven and earth.
If any of Cedric’s opinions of him were to be known by Irma, the latter would probably rage out and wage an all-out war against Cedric alone, making him the target of his immense enmity and declaring that he wouldn’t be able to exist so long as Cedric lives.
’Actually, that doesn’t sound bad,’ Cedric mused to himself playfully. ’I’ve been lacking some drama in my life, after all…and exercise; can’t forget about that.’
That happening wouldn’t be the end of the world for him. Cedric actually thought that it might be fun if that were to happen. He wasn’t scared or anything since he was practically raised clearing large swathes of pesky demons, and frankly, he missed doing just that.
And oh, how dangerous this was…because the more he thought about it, the more he was tempted to actually do it.
