Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking - Chapter 860: Divination

Chapter 860: Divination
—
As tempting as it was to start cleansing this realm of demons, Cedric ended up sparing them, for now, at least.
He didn’t order the return of his clone just yet. Instead, his main body did a little bit of divination.
Yes, among the many concept laws he learned during his musings in the Origin Heaven Continent, Divination Laws also saw massive improvements. He’d dare say that he’s even better at it now than 90% of the divination experts in this chaos realm.
Cedric didn’t want to alarm anybody; he also didn’t want to catch the wrong kind of attention by doing this, so he made sure that he performed the ritual in a very hush-hush and low-profile manner.
His goal? It’s to determine if the Human Sovereigns had any plans on making a move on the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm’s demons.
Cedric already discovered Urek’s trails when he combed through Irma’s memories. Urek did a neat job; even Cedric nearly missed the trails he left behind. But in the end, Cedric’s senses were just way too sharp.
With this, he assumed that the Human Sovereigns now know that the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm had been claimed by Irma and his demons. Cedric wants to know what they plan to do with this information.
Do they plan on marching there and wiping out demons, or do they plan to stay put and wait until they come knocking on the door?
Cedric’s next actions will be based on what he sees.
And so, the divination ritual was performed. Cedric’s eyes glazed as he began peeking into the future.
His intent was clear and concise. He wanted to see the Human Sovereign’s course of action for the demon race. He never wanted to see what happens, as if he were watching a movie. He just wanted to see snippets or scenes of the outcome. Hell, even words, declarations, or decisions will do.
The reason why he didn’t go for the exact scene was to prevent the Human Sovereigns from sensing his probes. He didn’t intend to be seen or sensed by them because he knew they wouldn’t appreciate his actions. That’s why he aimed for clues, hints, or brief scenes instead that would allow him to analyze their final decision.
He set the timeline for the next 100 years, just to be sure. Once he had this framework, the divination began working in earnest.
Visions flooded him. It showed him snippets, pictures, and panoramas of events he wanted to see. He heard their voices arguing and deliberating.
Cedric memorized everything, from the vaguest to the clearest.
By the time the phenomenon ended, a corner of Cedric’s mind had been filled with bits and pieces of the present. The ritual fizzled out, and he felt his head throbbing due to its side effects.
Cedric took some time to relax before piecing things together. The fact that all he got was some headache was already fortunate. Divination had always been a finicky and risky activity, one that the Supreme Will barely tolerates. It punishes those who are too curious for their own good.
Once the headache was gone, Cedric sighed and began arranging the scenes he memorized chronologically. He analyzed them one by one, and after an hour or two, he finally got the outcome he wanted to see.
“They chose to wait and see,” he declared after his analysis.
In the snippets he got, he saw Urek returning to the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm once with Gibson. They took a brief look and then returned.
He also got audio packs that contained snippets of their discussion about their course of action. And from those, he pretty much confirmed that the Human Sovereigns didn’t take the demons seriously.
Instead, they wanted to see what will come of Irma’s plan to team up with the Bug Empress. They wanted to see if his charisma actually works or if the Bug Empress eats him first.
As for how that ends up? Cedric had no clue. That’s not what he divined for; therefore, he didn’t see anything pertaining to that outcome.
All he could tell is that for the next 100 years, the Human Sovereigns will leave the demons alone.
“…I mean, I can’t really blame them, I guess. They had more important matters to take care of. Besides, if they eventually make a move, it’s impossible for them to keep it to themselves. Unless, of course, they planned on clearing that entire chaos realm by themselves.”
“If they did, that’s going to take them a very long time—a couple hundred years at minimum—since there’s just five of them and the infernal energy did a number on that realm.”
“They can shorten that if they involve people, but if they did that, news about this movement will eventually leak out, and that will cause too much noise and chaos in this chaos realm, one that none of them are willing to handle.”
“Besides, the vultures will open their beaks, and that’s a whole other headache on its own.”
Eradicating the demon race, preferably for the last time, will be the least of their problems if news of this ever leaks out. The ancient sects and organizations—especially those who had been suppressed by the Human Council for quite some time now—will cause a ruckus and will demand to be involved. And anything that has them will be nothing short of political trouble.
That’s why Cedric completely understood and empathized with the sovereigns’ indecision.
As a bonus, though, Cedric also discovered that Nicholas and Patricia were now in the final stretch of their original law practice. All they needed was to discover the final diagram for their respective laws, and they’d be recognized by Origin Laws too.
However, that’s going to take some time. Unlike Cedric, those two had to go through numerous trial and error processes because they don’t have an Origin Heaven Tablet to guide them.
At the very least, they won’t be recognized for the next 100 years; that much was obvious.
“Okay, now what?” Cedric sighed, looking at the ceiling.
“Ah, who am I kidding? I’m feeling restless, so yeah, I’d do it instead.”
Cedric has made a decision. Since their hands are tied, he’d lend them a hand. Of course, he had his own interests, and he’d for sure claim a corner of that chaos realm for his own…
But he mainly just wants to do something productive. And if the demon race were wiped out in the process, well…that could be considered as very productive.
With this in mind, Cedric swapped places with his clone.
Yes, he planned on doing this with his main body. No, he was not afraid of any accident. Nothing in the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm can threaten his clone, especially not his real body.
He could’ve left a clone to do this instead, but if he were being honest, his main body hasn’t seen action for quite some time now. He couldn’t exactly go around challenging the human sovereigns just to sweat, could he?
So, he decided that the cleansing of the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm will be left to the main body.
But if you’re expecting that Cedric will go in, swords out and aura screaming, ’I’m here!’ ’Cedric might just disappoint you.
No, he didn’t plan on taking them all head-on in a one-man realm war, as tempting as that might be.
Cedric instead chose to do it in a sneaky but equally exciting way.
There’s an idea he had in mind, and if he could pull it off, which he’s extremely confident that he could, the result will be nothing less than a spectacle in a chaos realm on a wide scale.
He flew to the benign corners of the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm first. He moved without revealing his presence, targeting the places that are deemed barren even by the demon race.
Obviously, he could feel the foul and omnipresent presence of infernal energy, but he didn’t care. No matter how dense it was, it couldn’t do anything to him. It couldn’t even locate his presence at all.
Whenever Cedric arrived at these locations, he would leave a sword scar.
It’s nothing great at first glance. In fact, with how rowdy these demons were and how much fighting they do on an hourly basis, the sword scars he left became even more innocuous. They blended into the many battle scars that covered these places.
Even if Irma himself were to be here in person, he wouldn’t have sensed anything special either. That’s how Cedric’s own sword scars blended in so well.
And Cedric wasn’t in a hurry either. He took his sweet time going from one barren world/plane to the next, leaving a sword scar on the places he visited.
Even when he was breathing down a demon’s neck, nobody was able to sense his presence at all. It’s like he never existed in the first place, which was incredibly bizarre.
As Cedric left the marks all over the place, a smile began forming on his lips. Sometimes, even he couldn’t help but let out mischievous giggles from time to time.
Yes, whatever it is he’s planning seemed really entertaining for him.
