Chapter 868: The Stormrider Clan of today
—
Cedric never took disciples…
He’s too occupied with something else to be considered as a good and responsible teacher, so he never accepted anyone.
Besides, Cedric goes into seclusion for years at a time. It is very rare that he comes out within months, or even days for that matter. Raising a disciple is a commitment, one that Cedric didn’t want to be entangled with any time soon.
However, this doesn’t mean that Cedric wasn’t helping his people to become stronger. As their Sector Lord, this was one of his responsibilities. The army he started out with, as strong and loyal as they are, weren’t undying people, nor would they be in position forever.
To ensure the longevity of his territory, he had to plan for the future. Therefore, prosperity and riches alone wouldn’t cut it. His people needed to be strong too.
Accepting the applications of the Ancient Sects and Organizations to build branches here could’ve been an easy way out, truthfully. All he needed to do was to sign their entry and allow them to build a branch sect here, and the history and methods they brought along with them would’ve done the rest.
But obviously, Cedric didn’t opt for that. He didn’t like the idea of those people throwing their weight around his territory.
With his brief interactions with them in tribute parties, he knows what kind of innate superiority even the humblest one of them held within. There was no way that they’d bow their heads to him.
If anything, it’s expected of them to sow discord within his territory so that they could gain a deeper foothold and influence. Give them an inch and they’d want a mile. It’s just in their nature to do so.
Cedric wasn’t dumb enough to fall for that scheme; that’s why he rejected their applications to build a branch in his territory, either politely or firmly. He’s past the point of caring whether they’d get offended or not.
Instead of relying on them to build a strong army to ensure protection for his land, Cedric opted to rely on what he already has.
And this gave way to the birth of local sects and organizations within the Rising Sun Sector Domain.
Cedric personally visited, interrogated, and approved of their applications. And they would often see what they’re up to whenever he’s free.
Sure, these sects and organizations were young and inexperienced. They don’t have as rich of a history as those other ancient sects and organizations. What they do have, though, is broad-mindedness and acceptance. They’re not ashamed to try and fail; they’re open to criticisms and feedback from their own too.
And it’s those qualities that allowed them to grow fast and strong.
Add Cedric’s financial and intellectual support, and they simply become unstoppable.
Furthermore, there’s a healthy, if rather fierce, rivalry and competition between the local sects and organizations of the Rising Sun Sector Domain. This spurs them to keep improving, giving birth to more ideas, which propelled them forward.
Cedric believed that they’re on the right track. If the last millennial tournament were to be referred to, all the participants they sent there, while not able to cinch the top rankings, were able to secure decent rankings still, despite coming from a young sector domain.
Their results alone speak loud enough to shame other sector domains older than the Rising Sun.
But the real kicker as to why Cedric could confidently say that the Rising Sun Domain was a holy land for Life Evolvers was because of himself.
In terms of conceptual law comprehension, who in the entire Heavenly Star Chaos Realm could compete with him?
Cedric knew pretty much every iteration and variant concept law there was, of course, even more so the common ones that appear in public.
Although Cedric wasn’t open to accepting disciples, he could spare time with lessons from time to time, and everybody who listens to his lectures will gain something after each session.
Yes, everybody. Not just humans; plants, animals, sentient artifacts…any living being or sentient lifeform that’s capable of thought will gain something after listening to his lectures. Whether their gain was big or small depends on their aptitudes, but regardless of that, if they attended the lecture and paid attention, they will for sure gain something after it; that’s the general consensus.
This is the seed behind the rise of life evolvers within the Rising Sun Sector Domain.
Cedric does this once every three years, or at least whenever he can. He didn’t need to do it personally, either. His clones could attend in his place and produce the same results.
And if there ever was a chance that someone mastered a Grand Law completely, which was equivalent to a single Law Essence, Cedric wouldn’t be opposed to revealing the secrets of Origin Laws to them either. Of course he wouldn’t hold their hand all the way, but he’d make sure that they’d know the way forward at least.
So far, nobody qualifies for this. Conceptual laws get harder the further one progresses, after all, so it’s normal. But Cedric had hope that one day, there will be one. And after that one, there will be more.
The best part? All of them will feel indebted to him, thus securing their loyalty to him and their home.
This was something that nobody could steal.
**
And of course, his true home, the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm, was doing just fine too.
By now, everybody who’s qualified to know knew about the Primitive Universe already.
At first, it had been challenging to make them believe his claims. Some even nearly lost their minds over it. But in the end, it all worked out somehow.
Now, the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm is no longer isolated by the Void Prison. In fact, they’re past the point where his people were stuck within their borders.
His people have long explored the vast expanse of the Rising Sun Sector Domain. Hell, some of them even explored the realms outside of his territory and came back to tell the tale.
At first, Cedric was very protective and very careful about how to introduce them to this new reality. It had been really challenging to make them accept the strange idea that it had been humans all along that were the strongest race there was in this chaos realm.
But again, it all eventually worked out. And Cedric was more than satisfied with everything.
Obviously, the living conditions of his people have improved immensely once they accepted their new reality. Cedric didn’t hold back when it came to them; one could even say that he was indeed biased with how they treated them so generously.
But of course, he also understood that his people need their agency; he can’t hold their hands forever. So, once they’re able to function on their own, he slowly but steadily removes his guidance so that they can start standing on their own.
And that’s how things are right now.
Cedric no longer worries about his people. In fact, most of them have outgrown their ancestral lands and begun exploring the vastness of the sector domain and the rest of the chaos realm outside of it.
Of course, if there were people who remained, it would be none other than his own family.
The Stormrider Clan has, indeed, grown into a proper clan at this point. So much so that even Cedric himself could hardly believe it.
Cedric has three wives, who gave him three sons, one son for each wife. Godwyn, Gilderoy, and Gerald.
His boys have grown into strong, reliable, and fine gentlemen over time. Had married their ladies and produced grandchildren for him to play with.
As time passed, his grandchildren grew up, became respected adults as well, and eventually married as well.
That ball kept rolling and rolling until it had become a proper mountain. A mountain that is now called the Stormrider Clan.
By now, their family tree had grown so large that even Cedric’s own children had become ancestors themselves. And isn’t that just weird?
Cedric himself feels ancient at this point.
Never, ever, say this to his wives, though, who still looked as fair and as beautiful as fairies at this point in time. They’re quite sensitive about it.
At this point, Cedric himself couldn’t even properly remember the names of his descendants. Hell, it’s even more difficult to attach faces to their names with how much they’ve grown.
The Stormrider surname is still active at this point in time, and even without the surnames, some of the descendants who married out still counted. Furthermore, there will always be that one dude in the clan who’s determined to marry as many spouses as they can support, which adds more names and faces to the family tree.
It’s such an exasperating thing sometimes, though a fond one, at that. Cedric could never really hate his own descendants.
Still, looking at how they’ve grown, Cedric was pleased. He did say he promised his deceased parents that, one day, he’d turn the Stormriders into a proper clan.
And he had achieved just that, much to his chagrin.
“Oh, dear parents of mine, I wonder what you’d say if you could see this now.”
