Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking - Chapter 874: Peak Heavenly Venerate

Chapter 874: Peak Heavenly Venerate
—
Angelo stayed long enough only to inform Cedric of the changes in his trial and to exchange some pleasantries. After that, he left and returned to wherever he came from, parting with his high expectations for Cedric.
Cedric sighed after he left. Well, at the very least, he gets to stay despite them knowing his secrets. He would’ve been really bummed if he got kicked out because of ’cheating.’
This confirmed his suspicions that the people who run this entire place behind the scenes were people Cedric can’t mess with.
They were able to see through Cedric’s cloning art. They could tell that he had been acknowledged by two origin laws even though no signs of it appeared anywhere near his clone. It occurred on his real body, which was certainly very far from here.
Yet they still discovered it, nonetheless.
And if they knew this, then how could his machinations in the trial escape their eyes?
Cedric wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve seen the ’shameless’ tactics he employed to secure high comprehension time rewards each time.
The fact that they didn’t even bother telling him off or sending him a warning whatsoever was just a clear indication that they didn’t care, that his tactics, as ’shameless’ as they were, were within the rules and thus, valid.
They also didn’t care that this was just his clone here. So long as he’s well-behaved and acts within their ruleset, there shouldn’t be any problem.
Now, originally, Cedric’s next trial schedule should’ve been close. However, because he’s now been acknowledged by two origin laws, the rules state that instead of every 100 years, Cedric will now only be required to participate in the trial every 500 years.
So, Cedric’s next trial has been moved. Well, more accurately, it could be moved a little bit over 400 years later. Or, he could follow the original schedule and then opt to take the next trial with the new rules applied.
Angelo did confirm that the trial’s difficulty wouldn’t spike because of his recent breakthrough. Its difficulty was keyed to his performance during the trial, not his actual strength level.
Cedric did reach the peak of the Heavenly Venerate Realm after he was acknowledged by the Origin Fire Laws. Just a little bit more and he’d reach the Empyrean Realm, which was among the strongest existences within his home realm.
He’s quickly catching up with the Human Sovereigns, and if the speed of his breakthrough continues, he would truly be untouchable within the next 10,000 years, which is almost guaranteed unless an accident happens.
But Cedric wasn’t in a hurry. Everything will come in due time.
However, Cedric also wasn’t one to waste time, so he decided that he’d follow the original schedule of his trial for now. As for the next, well, that depends on his future whims or needs.
**
And so, after a couple more years, Cedric once again participated in the trial.
He had enough time to come down from the high of being acknowledged by two origin laws. He even combined the prowess of both in his recent training sessions and was left reeling at just how awfully unfair and devastating his power is now.
Cedric could send a seemingly innocuous plume of fire and have it burn an entire galaxy within minutes. At the same time, this same plume of fire could become an undying flame that would be worshipped throughout the ages if he decided to gift it to living beings. It does not need anything to exist, only Cedric’s whims. If he said that it could continue burning, it will, regardless of anyone else’s opinion.
And this was one of the simplest things Cedric could do with Origin Fire Laws. To him, anything could serve as kindling for fire; even his stray thoughts would ignite into flames if he needed it.
Obviously, Cedric’s abilities weren’t just limited to ordinary fire. Flames that could heal and mend, bringing hope to those that are warmed by them; flames that are so cold that they burn; flames of various colors and representations; spiritual flames; etc. If it falls under the ’Fire’ category, Cedric’s aware of it and could most likely use it better than anyone else.
And these were the Origin Flame Laws. If he so wishes, he could combine this with his Origin Sword Laws and dial his prowess to an entirely different level.
Cedric could rampage all over the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm and leave it entirely ruined all on his own, and even the Human Sovereigns wouldn’t be able to stop him.
Not that he would do that, of course. He hasn’t lost his mind yet. But he totally could if he’s forced to.
Honestly, Cedric could stop here.
He could be content with this. Leave this place, return his clone home, and settle down. With two origin laws in his pockets, bottlenecks are practically nonexistent to him, so he could just stay diligent, and eventually, he’d reach the Primal Origin Lifeform Realm.
But that’s not what he wants…
Once upon a time, Cedric, who had just been introduced to the Primitive Universe, made a promise to himself that, when he decided to join this civilization, he would aim to reach the top with all his might.
To see how far he could go…
And that hasn’t changed. Cedric was still working towards that goal. The Primal Origin Lifeform Realm might be the known peak of life evolution, but who knows? Maybe it’s not?
Cedric didn’t want to regret anything, so he wanted to be sure that each step he took was as perfect as it could be. It’s why he’s such a unique existence, after all, even among humans.
Sure, Origin Sword Laws and Origin Fire Laws practically made him unbeatable in the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm, but fighting prowess wasn’t the reason why he studied and worked hard to gain the acknowledgement of Origin Laws.
These two were also just pieces to a much grander and more complicated puzzle that is the Origin Source Law—which was Cedric’s main target.
He wanted to understand conceptual laws as a whole, not by bits and pieces, so to call it. He wants to know everything about it because, to him, this was the real key to standing at the very peak of existence.
That’s why Cedric knows that his work was far from done.
That’s why, even though it’s unnecessary, Cedric still accompanied the others to participate in the next scheduled trial, even if his could be delayed some more.
With the Origin Fire Laws complete, next in his agenda was to complete the five basic elements. And to complement both his fire and sword laws, Cedric chose the Origin Metal Laws to comprehend this time.
**
While Cedric remotely controlled his clone to participate in the trial and have it comprehend the Origin Metal Laws, Cedric’s main body and other clones also paid attention to reality.
Today, Cedric was warned through his random precognition that Nicholas will be visiting his territory under a disguise.
Of course he didn’t see everything, just the fact that he’d have one of the Human Sovereigns as a visitor. He didn’t know why Nick would do this or what he meant by going here, but Cedric wouldn’t turn him away just because of mere suspicions.
So, he decided to not do anything.
Well, at least nothing obvious on the surface. Cedric will of course pay attention to him, but he won’t scrutinize everything Nicholas does in his territory.
He guessed that Nick must be trying to clear his mind. Maybe he’s doing that by going out on a walk for a bit and decided to visit this place according to his whims.
Cedric can’t stop the man from walking into his territory just because he didn’t like it. If he did that, he’s just giving the man even more reasons to get in.
And as someone who’s recognized the Origin Destruction Laws, Nick can and will force his way through if he gets suspicious enough.
So, there’s no reason to antagonize the man. Let him through; it’s not like Cedric was hiding a realm-destroying secret (he does, actually; having two origin laws under his belt counts as one, but psh, semantics).
Another thing, Cedric doesn’t know when, though.
The vision didn’t indicate when this visit will happen. Cedric only knew that it’s in the future because Nick wasn’t anywhere near his territory right now, and he’s not lousy or lax enough to not know when a person of Nick’s status and power was wandering in his backyard.
That said, it’s fine. There was no need to alarm anybody about this. It’s enough that only he knows.
Nick will come under a disguise anyway. Sure, he might be able to hide his real identity from others, but that’s not going to work on Cedric. He’s too good, and his eyes were too sharp for that.
Cedric didn’t imagine Nick going here with ill intent.
Maybe his assumptions were right. That Nick was only here to visit and unwind. And if that’s all he needs, then he’s more than welcome to relax here.
Cedric wouldn’t close his doors to his face just because of that.
