Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking - Chapter 875: Nick goes out on a walk

Chapter 875: Nick goes out on a walk
—
Nick went out on a walk…
Well, considering that he didn’t ride any ships and was walking at the vacuum of space as if it were solid ground and each step of his took him across worlds and cosmic realms in an instant, this should count as a ’walk.’
He didn’t plan for this. He didn’t even think about it when this day started. The idea simply appeared in his mind, and he decided to act upon it.
Sitting at his office and taking care of the paperwork got old a couple of years ago; he returned his clone to take care of those since then while his main body took it easy.
He often goes out of the chaos realm to unleash his power of destruction. This was how he trained his abilities and control over them. Of course, he made sure to be very careful when he did.
Even though he’s using it on things outside the chaos realm, there’s always a possibility that it’ll bleed into Heavenly Star; that’s why he’s always serious in his training. He wants to prevent any accidents from happening.
Besides that, though, Nick took it easy.
It was that hard to have the new ceiling of his power under control. The acknowledgement of the Origin Destruction Laws helped immensely with that. All he really needed to focus on was his preparations for that final step.
Alas, even after so many years since his acknowledgement, Nick still didn’t feel like he was ready to make that attempt.
It upsets him because he thinks he’s being ridiculous. He knows the steps. He watched Urek, Berk, and Gibson make their attempts, and even though they failed, they lived to inform them of their findings, which will be of great help to Nick and Pat when their turn eventually comes.
And more importantly, he’s got the acknowledgement of an origin law. Something that Urek, Berk, or Gibson didn’t have. And if their speculations were correct, then this was the final requirement for them to actually reach that fabled realm.
In short, Nick has everything he’d need for the breakthrough, so why is he still hesitating? It’s ridiculous if you ask him.
But Nick was also aware that this cannot be forced. He’s aware that he’s not ready yet, much to his irritation, and he just can’t say ’fuck it’ and make the breakthrough anyway because that would be the peak of stupidity.
This was something that would render brute force ineffective.
And so, Nick could only try to be patient and wait until he feels ready enough, much to his dismay, obviously.
Now, Nick just follows his whims simply because he can. He tries hard enough to not think of his breakthrough. Instead, he’d just wait and see when he finally feels ready enough.
He’s trusting the feeling to come to him instead of chasing after it.
So, when he thought about going out on a walk today, he acted on it.
He went out of this office, made his presence almost nonexistent, and began taking long strides all over the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm, pausing in between to check on worlds, civilizations, etc.
Nick was trying to entertain and distract himself by doing this.
Eventually, he found himself standing before the Rising Sun Sector Domain and was nearly blinded and numbed by the things he felt around the area.
’Holy crap! That kid went all out in the defenses of this place! ’
Nick was impressed. Obviously, he didn’t forget who the Sector Lord of this place was. He remembered Cedric as if he only saw him yesterday, which is also the same day they elected him as the new Sector Lord of this sector domain.
Only, that ’yesterday’ had been, in fact, more than 1400 years ago.
Hell, last time he checked, this kid sent out his own batch of participants in the previous millennial tournament, and the results they brought back weren’t bad at all.
It’s astonishing to see how far Cedric has come, especially by only relying on himself.
With how well defended this sector domain was, even Nick could say that this place was just as secure as the Human Council HQ—and that’s saying a lot considering that the HQ had been around for millions of years!
The defenses of this place were so dense that not even Nick himself could see what’s on the other side.
Now, if this was anywhere else or someone else, Nick would grow suspicious and would certainly think that the lord of this place was hiding something illegal.
But since it’s this place and this person, then Nick’s worries were unfounded.
This was mainly because the Rising Sun Sector Domain had grown rather popular during the past millennia.
The reports and polls won’t lie. In terms of prosperity and security, the Rising Sun Sector Domain has climbed to the top of the lists. The HQ often sends people here to evaluate, and they will always return with praises and positive reports.
Nick himself had seen gross amounts of demand for people to migrate here, considering how strict Cedric was with how he runs this place.
Of course, seeing this got Nick’s attention. And seeing how dense those defenses were discouraged him from infiltrating it. Even he wasn’t confident in not being detected by the layers upon layers of security measures placed in this sector domain.
So, instead of forcing his way in, he instead chose a more ’peaceful’ and ’quiet’ way to enter. He hijacked one of the ships that are lined up to enter this place, stunned the VIP on the ship, hid that person in his Inner World, and used that person’s identity and memories to enter the sector domain.
Nick’s actions were quick, silent, and very efficient. Still, he felt nervous because he knew that he’s far from being able to perfectly mimic the VIP he abducted, which might trip the defenses and alert everybody.
Fortunately for him, though, he got in without any hassle.
They were welcomed with open arms and escorted by security to make their visit more pleasant.
What Nick didn’t know is that Cedric already knew he’d be arriving. In fact, everything he did to that VIP was seen by Cedric himself. Additionally, if Cedric hadn’t subtly adjusted the permissions on the defensive measures, Nick would’ve been caught.
In the end, Nick still underestimated the defenses of this place. But there’s no need to tell him this. He could take this little victory for his rather ’clever’ idea.
And since Cedric was playing along, Cedric had no reason to personally receive Nick. Not that the man needed him to explore anyway.
So, under a fake identity, Nick began exploring the Rising Sun Domain and was definitely more than impressed by what he saw inside.
Compared to at least 90% of the civilizations Nick visited in the past, the Rising Sun Sector Domain sure ranks at the top.
Nick could just feel how vibrant life and culture here were. This domain was not only beautiful, but it was also healthy.
The flow of origin energy here was denser, calmer, and of higher quality compared to other sector domains.
Nick felt at ease here. It’s like all of the burdens he had just disappeared all of a sudden. Not that there had been any left to begin with, but he had the impression anyway.
Everywhere he looked, there were people gushing about this place. The tourists loved this place, even more so its citizens.
Nick listened in and could’ve sworn that, by now, he had heard people showering Cedric with praises. Some of them even sounded like fanatics already.
Cedric couldn’t possibly have started a cult here, right? Nick just can’t see Cedric doing something that embarrassing.
This only meant that his people were really happy with their lives here. Nick even heard some people making decisions to apply for permanent citizenship and transfer here.
And they really can’t blame them. With how prosperous this place was, anybody would be tempted to move here permanently.
To say that Cedric had done a wonderful job reviving and transforming this place would be a severe understatement. Especially since Nick distinctly remembers this place being a barren wasteland before Cedric appeared and took charge.
’Every investment he spent on this place had been worth it,’ Nick thought to himself. ’And every single one must be paying him handsome dividends already.’
Yes. That must be the case. It seems that putting Cedric here had been one of the best decisions the council ever made.
Obviously, since his main purpose was to relax, Nick wouldn’t mind partaking in some festivities, which certainly distracted him long enough to be relaxed.
Nick then spent a couple of months staying here, just having as much fun as he could. He wasn’t needed anywhere, and the VIP whose identity was stolen by him would’ve done the same in his place.
What Nick didn’t know was that Cedric had been watching him in amusement. Cedric doesn’t even need to open his eyes to see where he is. So long as he’s within this realm, Cedric instinctively knows where he is at any given moment.
Cedric obviously left him alone. So long as Nick behaves, there won’t be a problem.
