Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking - Chapter 890: Intrusion

Chapter 890: Intrusion
—
It was business as usual for the bugs of the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm…
Everything was in order. Every bug was diligently doing their tasks to keep things going in the realm. Most of them aren’t very smart, sure, but they make do. What they lacked in intelligence, they made up for with sheer relentless effort and a single-minded determination to do what they must.
They don’t have a concept of boredom; repetition doesn’t concern them at all. If anything, they seem to thrive from it.
As for the ones sitting at the throne, ruling over all the bugs in this realm, life for them had been monotonous so far.
The Bug Empress, the true and absolute ruler of the Horde and the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm, was, most of the time, in seclusion. She’s working very hard to chase and comprehend Law Essences to complete the requirements of the Origin Samsara Law.
Her determination to strangle the Supreme Will and replace it with hers still burned brightly. The idea that the Supreme Will still threatens the life of her youngest spurred her on.
Stopping short from her goals wasn’t even an idea for her. For her youngest, her family, and everything she held dear, she would willingly burn the entire Primitive Universe if it meant keeping them safe.
Alas, her efforts are starting to prove rather futile.
The potential of this body she snatched so long ago had been exhausted. She already took it way farther than it originally should, and she once thought that it’d be okay to keep going like this.
Alas, she was mistaken. She should’ve known that everything has limits; this body was no different.
The talent she borrowed can no longer continue propelling her forward to her goals.
That said, maybe it’s the sentimentality of it all, maybe it had grown on her, but she had gotten so used to his body. She’s been using it for so long that she’d long recognized it as her own.
Hell, the idea of changing bodies again felt uncomfortable for her. She had long since grown used to inhabiting this body, so changing into a new one felt wrong somehow.
The idea of switching bodies had been marinating in her mind for a while, and whether she’d admit it or not, she knows that she’s stalling.
She reasoned out that it’d be difficult for her to find a replacement. After all, bodies that had this much potential were rare, even for races that are blessed with fertility, like humans.
And with how strictly defended the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm was, she’d find it very hard to seize another body. If she could even find one in the first place…
And maybe, she’s not wrong. This was, indeed, a valid reason to stall. But for the sake of her goals, she’d have to find another solution someday, and it better be soon because she could feel that she’s running out of time.
Well…she’s not really wrong about that last part. It’s just that she’s not expecting someone to actually finally make a move.
Swoosh!
A cool breeze swept across her seclusion chambers. It tickled her skin, and she felt rather disturbed for a moment.
She had been sitting on her throne, staring blankly at an empty spot, allowing her thoughts to run freely to distract her from her frustrations of being so far away from her end goal.
This would’ve continued if it weren’t for the fact that she heard somebody speaking near her.
“How very careless.”
“!!!”
Her soul almost jumped out of her body in alarm. She practically kicked her throne, shattering it into pieces as she warily looked around. Her senses were instantly flared, scanning for every possible threat within the room and primed to react at the faintest twitch.
“Who’s there!?” She asked. Her arms turned into blades, a carapace armor covered her skin, and two additional pairs of eyes appeared on her face.
Inwardly, she was screaming. How? How did somebody infiltrate her seclusion chambers without tripping the alarms?
Matter of fact, how did nobody sense this intruder? Were her children slacking off in their work? No, that can’t possibly be! But then how?
She then sensed movement in the dark corner of the room. Slow and deliberate.
When the intruder stepped into the light, the face of one of her mortal enemies presented himself to her, which made the Bug Empress’s eyes widen briefly in alarm.
“Nicholas!!” She snarled, almost all the hairs on her body standing on end at the mere sight of him; a sense of morbid danger nearly overwhelmed her senses. “How the fuck did you get in here!?”
She had no idea, but regardless of the answer, she knows that this wasn’t good.
The fact that he managed to easily infiltrate this room, a place where she’s at her most vulnerable, without alerting anybody, was truly and utterly bad. It’s the worst kind of news she could ever get because it means that he could kill her anytime he so desired.
And that idea just doesn’t sit well with her.
This frightened her so much that she completely missed the emptiness and nostalgia emanating from Nick’s eyes.
As he looked at how his wife’s body had been changed so effortlessly by the Bug Empress, turning it into a morbid sight that he now sees, for a brief moment, Nick doubted if coming here was even the right move.
He was second-guessing himself. Was this even worth it? Should he just leave it alone? If there was even a small possibility that his wife could be revived, would she even want this body back?
It’s been perverted in so many ways, desecrated, morphed, and corrupted beyond its tolerance.
“ANSWER ME!!”
The Bug Empress, seemingly finally catching on to his distraction, demanded answers from him, waking him up from his stupor.
Nick sighed at the sight of the Bug Empress acting as if she’s a cornered beast. Which is kind of the truth, actually.
“We’re way past the past of owing each other explanations,” he said rather easily, acting as if he’s not even a little bit concerned about her attitude.
“I came here to take back what you’ve stolen from me, one that’s long overdue.”
The Bug Empress didn’t need him to clarify his intent; she connected the dots as soon as he was finished saying his words.
While she did not, for once, believe he could actually bear to strike down the face of his long and deceased lover, she’d be a fool to not take advantage of this.
Alas, it would seem that Nicholas simply wasn’t in the mood to play around. Before she could even say a word, he moved.
He appeared right before her, moving so fast that she couldn’t even react to it. And as soon as he was close enough, he pressed his palm on her navel and gave her a slight push.
The Bug Empress felt the world spinning around her. In addition to that, she felt herself being stripped of something she had always worn.
Her senses were frayed by the sudden ’nakedness’ she felt. She took a raw and sharp inhale, feeling the strange new sensation in her lungs.
It took her a few seconds to get used to her new senses, but when she opened her eyes, she saw her body…or more specifically, the corpse she had worn for so long that she’d gotten used to calling it hers.
That body now lay gently in Nick’s embrace, and it was a miracle in itself that it didn’t start rotting right away given how much it had been abused and how long dead its original owner was.
The fact that it was still pristine and looked as if she was just unconscious was a miracle on its own.
As for the Bug Empress, she would need some time to get used to her new, er…original body.
Her true form was that of a spider with the upper body of a humanoid. Because she’s so unused to moving using her original body, it’d take her some time to be comfortable with it again.
Honestly, in terms of appearance, this body wasn’t bad looking at all. For a bug, specifically, she’s practically enchanting. The only problem is that this body’s talents weren’t that great. Using this to continue chasing after the Origin Samsara Law was practically impossible, for it couldn’t even sense Law Essences to begin with.
Struggling to stand up and gritting her teeth in humiliation, she glared at Nick, who remained unperturbed as he gently placed a seal that will preserve the body of his beloved before keeping her in his Inner World.
He then stood up, looking down on the struggling Bug Empress with dead cold eyes filled with contempt and disdain.
“Just continue writhing on the floor like the bug you are,” he spat, coldly and mercilessly. “I can tell you right now that all of your efforts are for nothing.”
“Your destiny had long been clear to all of us.”
“You are not meant to rule anything.”
“The gates leading to the peak of existence will remain forever closed to a creature like you.”
“Spend your remaining time wisely. It won’t be long before I march here with an army to wipe you all out.”
After saying his piece, Nick disappeared as soundlessly as he appeared, leaving behind a shamed and humiliated Bug Empress.
