Chapter 897: Patricia’s Breakthrough
—
Nick and Reina spent the next couple decades indulging in their marital bliss.
Well, they actually didn’t marry the second time. Reina said that they don’t need to since they’re just continuing where they left, and Nick was all fine with that. But they still enjoyed each other’s company nonetheless.
They stayed at the Altus Sky Solar System entirely. They mostly stayed at home, talking about everything or just basking in peace and silence that had been deprived from them, if they’re not under the sheets getting to know each other more intimately again.
They lived like normal people. Anybody who’d see them wouldn’t think twice if they were life evolvers. Their clothes were humble, their home was only large enough for the both of them to live comfortably, and there was no weirdness happening around them.
All in all, nothing would make others think that they’re experts in life evolution. If only they knew, though.
But Nick and Reina were okay with them not knowing. They don’t have to know. They prefer life like this for now.
Nick doesn’t have to worry about his work in the council since his clones can handle that. He also doesn’t have to worry about cultivating anymore since he’s literally at the peak of existence. His other clone handles the additional insights to conceptualize laws, not his main body.
As for Reina, she doesn’t need to try. She’s making progress in life evolution just by existing. That’s how absurd her new body was. If she made an effort, she’d practically fly through the life evolution realms.
It’s just that she’s not worried about that. She’s not in a hurry. If there’s anything she’s concerned about, it’d be the matter of starting a family with Nick.
Yes, even in this new body and life of hers, conceiving was difficult. She initially thought that being young and not too strong in life evolution would, at least, give them a better chance. That’s why she’s not stressing over it. But it turns out that she’s wrong.
They never discussed it outright. Both of them would like to think that it’s nobody’s fault, that they’re just unlucky for the most part. But deep down, they knew why.
They wouldn’t call it a problem, merely a disparity, per se.
It’s Nick. No, it’s not because he’s impotent or anything; he’s fine in that regard. He’s just too strong.
At his current state, being a Primal Origin Lifeform, there was practically no reason for him to reproduce. That’s not to say that he has lost the ability; he’s still trying obviously.
It’s just that she doesn’t have to do it this way anymore. The ’natural’ way of birthing heirs could barely be applied to him because he could simply ’create’ heirs out of thin air.
That’s where the problem lies. Because Nick insisted that he wanted Reina to experience the ’natural’ way. He didn’t want to take away the experience from her. He thinks that she deserved to experience it, especially after what they went through.
And Reina obviously thought the same. Although deep down, she guessed that it couldn’t be done this way anymore.
That said, this didn’t cause any rifts in their relationship. It’s mainly because they haven’t talked about it yet. Both of them are way too satisfied and content with their current status that they both feel fine setting this matter aside for now.
But even when that time comes, when they finally sit down and talk about it, it’s no big deal.
So what if Reina can’t get pregnant through normal means anymore? It’s a child with Nick that she wants. It’s family that she craves. Whoever said that there’s only one way to breed heirs?
It’s not the process that concerned her; it’s the product. What she wants is to raise her children with Nick. Whether they came out of a ritual or out of thin air, who cares? So long as the child was healthy and active, she didn’t mind what process Nick would use to help them get one…or two…or maybe however many they’d want.
There’s no rushing either. Both of them are having way too much fun and comfort with each other’s company to rush. They have all the time in the world.

While Nick and Reina basked in the continuation of their relationship, Patricia was continuing to make progress.
She and the rest of their friends would sometimes visit the couple for a few days just to talk or to get some peace, away from all the hustle and bustle of the chaos realm.
Patricia, Berk, Urek, and Gibson were all too happy to see Reina among the living once more. They’ve more than caught up with the present and were just comfortable and happy that she’s back with them.
They felt a peace seeing her at peace. Sometimes, their memories of Reina scheming the downfall of other species that shared the same chaos realm as them were hard to pin to the same face that she wore now.
If it weren’t for the fact that they were all there when Reina got her new body, they probably wouldn’t believe that this was that same person.
But of course, this doesn’t mean that Reina lost her edge; oh no, far from that. With the things she left on the premises of their home, they’re all convinced that it’s her.
She’s just not doing it on a larger scale, but her paranoia, or as she calls it, ’constant vigilance,’ is still as sharp as ever. It’s just hidden for the most part, tame in comparison to what they used to remember.
If Reina had it, she’d soon start scheming for the downfall of the Horde. She’s just holding back because she’s way too happy and content with her current life right now.
With the resurrection of her best friend, one of the biggest burdens and regrets that Patricia had was finally lifted. She’d grown so used to carrying this guilt that she’d long since forgotten that she had it. So, when it was lifted, even she was surprised with how easy it was for her to breathe now.
And with that out of the way, Patricia found it way easier to start accepting things the way they are.
She was no longer in a hurry to catch up with Nick.
Actually, she felt silly when she realized this. She’s got a really long life ahead of her; a couple dozen years of delay wouldn’t hurt.
Besides, she already gained the acknowledgement of origin soul laws. All she was waiting for was for her to feel ’ready’ to take the next step. She needs to relax and wait until that moment comes.
It’s not something she could decide for herself. Nick proved it himself. Don’t think about it; it’ll come on its own.
And that’s what she’s doing right now. And with Reina’s resurrection, she felt life far easier than it was before.
As for her responsibilities at the council? Not a problem, she’s got clones for that! Hell, the last time she was at the council HQ was during Nick’s banquet!
She almost never goes there unless something truly needs her attention, something that her clone can’t handle by itself, and those are rare.
So, life was easy, sometimes dull and repetitive, but smooth for her at least. She really had no complaints.
And…wouldn’t you know it, as soon as she got comfortable, the sense of readiness came to her almost immediately.
It happened one morning as she was watching the sun rise. She was sitting at the edge of a cliff, legs dangling below, holding a cup of steaming coffee in a mug and wearing a peaceful smile on her face.
As soon as the light of dawn touched the land and graced life with its golden rays, a sense of satisfaction settled in her stomach.
It was then followed by a sign, a prophetic vision of sorts, that she needed to find a location where her breakthrough could happen.
Patricia’s eyes shone in splendor. She had been waiting for this very moment!
She didn’t move, didn’t leave her spot to go to a private location or anything. She was fine here. In fact, she’d long prepared this place for her eventual breakthrough; why would she leave?
Emptying the contents of her mug in one swig, she tossed the mug into her inner world and sat cross-legged.
She was ready and prepared.
Her Empyrean Phantom emerged from behind her and expanded until it was practically the same size as the chaos realm.
And similar to what happened with Nick, the moment her phantom tried to move, shackles appeared on her temples, neck, wrists, waist, and ankles.
One by one, they broke until only the waist shackle was left. She then summoned the Origin Soul Law diagram, and it slammed into the waist shackle, destroying it completely and freeing her phantom.
The tribulation clouds receded. The Supreme Will, who had been attracted by this commotion, gave her a long, scrutinizing look before nodding and retreating from wherever it came from.
A profound sense of freedom flooded Patricia’s entire existence, making her remember what Nick always stressed after his breakthrough.
He was right. There are truly no words apt enough to describe just how free she felt afterwards.
