Chapter 899: Metal, Earth, Wood, and Water

Patricia didn’t feel like it was necessary for her to host a banquet for her breakthrough. She also feels like it wasn’t necessary for her to make the announcement either.

Everybody who should know about her breakthrough already knew it, and if they’re sensible, then the last thing they’d want is to provoke her ire.

So, Patricia enjoyed her time after the breakthrough in peace and serenity, still basking in the new height of powers she now possessed.

Meanwhile, east of the Human Council HQ, where the Rising Sun Sector Domain was at, Cedric stared at the skies.

His eyes shimmered with a faint light, tracking the residue of what happened recently. And with a sigh, he muttered:

“So she succeeded too. That’s nice.”

Cedric wasn’t actually there to see it happen. He was too immersed in his own contemplations and study of concept laws through the feedback of his clone at the Origin Heaven Continent.

He was filling up the holes in his understanding while Patricia’s breakthrough happened, and he missed it entirely.

But he wasn’t too concerned. He already knew the process. He had watched Nick’s breakthrough, which was enough to fill him in for everything. He didn’t need to see it the second time.

Besides, that realm was still a little too far away from him. He’s only at the early stages of the Empyrean Realm right now, not even close to the mid-stage, actually. This isn’t something that he should concern himself with just yet.

And since he wasn’t deliberately chasing after progress for his life evolution, focusing on comprehending concept laws, and letting his cultivation overflow instead, it shows that he wasn’t in a hurry either.

Like Nick, Patricia also didn’t sense anything wrong with Cedric. Hell, she probably wasn’t looking for him either. Both of them still had no idea what he could actually do. They also have no idea that the ’CS’ who left a note for them at the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm was him.

And it’s better that way, actually.

If they knew, they would surely ask a lot of questions. Questions that Cedric wasn’t comfortable answering just yet. It’s also possible that they’d give him more responsibilities, and Cedric just wasn’t alright with that.

He’d very much prefer to be a stay-at-home Sector Lord, thank you very much.

On another note, Cedric also sensed somebody’s resurrection—or was it reincarnation?

The moment Nick brought the corpse or his dead wife here in the Chaos Realm, Cedric saw it in a vision.

He was able to recognize that body, and it made him wonder if Nick just suddenly decided to assassinate the Bug Empress.

Don’t get him wrong, Cedric doesn’t care what they decide to do with the Horde. If Nick actually decided to assassinate the Bug Empress, then good riddance, he’d say.

But alas, that was, apparently, the wrong assumption.

After a few deductions, Cedric was able to come up with a reasonable assumption.

Nick just retrieved the body of her dead wife, peeling it away from the Bug Empress’ control.

The fact that he waltzed into the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm by himself and left unscathed didn’t surprise Cedric. Hell, Cedric would be more surprised if he weren’t able to do that because that should be incredibly easy for him.

Cedric himself could do the same, actually. Even as he is now. No need to wait until he reaches the Primal Origin Lifeform Realm.

But yes, moving along…

Cedric felt sympathy after deducing that, all this time, the Bug Empress was wearing Nick’s dead wife’s corpse, taunting him with her face and doing all sorts of horrible things with it.

If he were on his toes, Cedric wouldn’t have been able to remain sane. He’d do everything he could to wipe out The Horde on his own, and after doing that, he’d kill himself with hopes of meeting his wife in the afterlife.

But yeah, he brought her back, and apparently, some parts of her were still alive. They made a new body for her, one that was absurdly talented and all that, and effectively resurrected her.

As for the old body? That was cremated. Its ashes are scattered across space debris, probably nonexistent by now.

Then, most recently, it was Patricia’s breakthrough, which he missed.

Those are all the huge matters that Cedric paid attention to. And although they were a big deal, Cedric didn’t concern himself too much about them because they’re too far to reach him.

So long as his territory and his people remain safe, that’s all that matters to him.

His priority was continuing his mastery over concept laws.

Speaking of which…

Back at the Origin Heaven Continent, about 200 years passed since the last time he participated in the trial.

By now, Cedric was more than certain that he had all perfected his understanding of metal law essences, as much as the ones available to him at the current moment, of course. And he could say the same to the other basic elemental laws of water, earth, and wood.

He was ready.

Ready to cut his free time short and participate in the trial once more to gain comprehension time rewards.

Now, his clone marched to the core inheritance zone, arriving at the same universal expanse where the nebula was located; he followed a path that he had grown familiar with over the years.

Upon his arrival there, as usual, nobody was there to greet him. Angelo was absent, probably attending to his own matters. But it’s fine; Cedric doesn’t need his hand held here. He knew how this goes by now.

He felt the familiar pull of the trial and went to it. He arrived at the trial space with a sword drawn from who knows where. Without any hesitation, he declared his participation, and the world suddenly changed into the one he’d been familiar with in the blink of an eye.

Cedric heard screams and shouts around him. He felt the earth trembling fiercely with each explosion and attack. Colorful lights pelted the sky, and the abyssals marched on with their intimidating and all-consuming presence.

None of this surprised him anymore. Cedric adjusted pretty quick, deploying the same tactic as before.

He stuck with groups, fishing for final blows and quietly racking in rewards while maintaining his mobility.

Cedric stayed out of the way, avoiding the intentional pull to the gigantic abyssals from a distance.

The trial was certainly and subtly trying to push him towards there to force him to of his skills so it could have a decent reason to increase the difficulty of his trial.

But Cedric could tell what’s happening, and he refused to play along. He’s not one to be taken advantage of.

He kept his distance from the enemies that he knew he couldn’t handle just yet. Instead, he moved from one group to the next, searching for weakened and dying abyssals to land the killing blow, earning him his rewards.

Cedric was past the point of caring or feeling ashamed of his actions. Since this trial was trying to kill him, then he would feel bad making it work for it.

He’s not one to just lay down and accept his death.

And so, after a whole week of opportunistic harvests, Cedric ended up gaining a whopping 200 days of comprehension time rewards.

It’s unprecedented. And if others were to hear about this, they’d probably foam in the mouth in envy. Fortunately, Cedric had no plans on sharing this news, and the people behind the scenes aren’t interested in sharing this news either.

Once his earnings were tallied, into the nebula he went.

Cedric didn’t hesitate. He called for the Origin Metal Tablet and began comprehending.

Once the tablet was upon him, the floodgates snapped wide open. The other half of metal law essences that elude him suddenly appeared before his vision.

And Cedric began inhaling insights about them like a thirsty whale. Every thought compartment he had was engaged. He deduced, comprehended, and compiled information like a starved man.

Slowly but surely, the diagram of Origin Metal Laws within his consciousness became more visible and detailed. Its transformation responds to his understanding.

And with Cedric’s incredibly solid and unparalleled foundations, comprehending the other half of the metal law essences didn’t take long either.

By the time he was done, only 50 days had passed. Of course, Cedric wasn’t in a hurry to leave.

Instead of using the rest of his comprehension time rewards later, he decided to continue with another law.

This time, he summoned the Origin Earth Tablet and began comprehending it. But only after sealing all insights he got from the Origin Metal Law.

The Origin Earth Tablet also had opened the floodgates for him, allowing him to sense the other half of Earth law essences. And similar to metal laws, earth laws too had been finished after 50 days.

After sealing that one, he moved on to the Origin Water Tablet, and after that, the final one, which is the Origin Wood Tablet.

By the end of 200 days, Cedric had all but completely filled the origin law diagrams of the five basic elemental laws.

With that, he left the core inheritance zone and prepared for another long period of seclusion.
