Endless Leveling Done Right! - Chapter 531: Now You Also Have Nowhere To Hide [Part 1]

Chapter 531: Now You Also Have Nowhere To Hide [Part 1]
Having arrived at the witching hour, it was still dark when Alex and Fran reached the camp of the Demon Army.
Just as they expected, the demons were on high alert. However, the Demon Lord and the Demon Generals were nowhere to be seen, probably recuperating in an underground shelter or some other hiding place.
The pair didn’t have the time to check these locations, but it didn’t matter.
As long as the Demon Lord and the Generals were close to the camp, they were bound to appear after Alex and Fran unleashed chaos upon their subordinates.
Fran once again started chanting, adding more magical power to her already powerful attack.
They had retreated a good distance away, leaving some wisps to monitor the aftermath of the spell Fran was about to unleash.
“Meteor Fall!”
The night lit up as dozens of blazing boulders descended from the sky. Since the mages of the Demon Race were ready and alert, they timely cast barriers to block the brunt of the attack that could have annihilated all of them.
The first wave of meteors was successfully blocked, but the second wave shattered their barrier.
Fortunately for the Demons, the damage they received was minimal, and no one died.
“Let’s see if you can still handle round two!” Fran raised her hands high and chanted a second time.
“Meteor Fall!”
Since the spell was high level, the Demon Mages didn’t expect a second bombardment to fall upon their heads so soon.
Although they managed to raise another barrier, they weren’t as ready as the first time, so the first wave of meteors broke their defenses.
The second volley caused mass destruction, killing demons in the dozens.
Fran panted for breath from on top of Alex’s head.
Casting two Meteor Falls was her limit, and she would need to rest for at least an hour or two to fully recover.
With her current state, the only spells she could cast right now were low-ranking spells like Magic Bullets.
“The Demon Lord and the Demon Generals still haven’t shown up,” Fran said after a few minutes. “They’re either too deep down in the ground to notice the blast or switched to a farther location.
“On the bright side, I’ve killed at least sixty demons. That’s about twenty percent of them gone, isn’t it?”
Alex nodded. “You did well, Fran. I’ll handle the rest.”
The teenage boy then took out a bow from his storage ring and nocked an arrow.
Although not as great as Medina in archery, he was a fairly decent archer, trained from the times he had provided rear support to their team.
Ron and Carlo didn’t want to let Alex fight on the front lines, so he was mostly at the back with Fran and Medina.
Not wanting to be a burden, he had asked the elf to teach him archery, which Medina was more than happy to do.
He pulled the string as far as he could and zoomed in at his target using the skill Eagle Eye.
The moment he released the arrow, it streaked toward a demon and pierced its chest, jutting out of the target’s back.
The demon died not knowing how he died, surprising the demons near him.
Unfortunately for them, they were Alex’s next targets.
In rapid succession, four more demons were taken down by the teenage boy’s arrows. The young man only paused when the Demons were close to finding their location.
Alex and Fran were no fools. The moment Alex fired his last barrage, he immediately ran in a different direction.
He deliberately chose a location that gave him a good view of the demons who were headed in his earlier location.
Then, at the right moment, Alex started his second killing spree.
Only after losing a dozen of their comrades did the demons finally had enough and retreated to their underground shelter.
“Too bad I can’t cast another Meteor Fall,” Fran lamented. “I’m pretty sure I can bury all of them with one solid hit.”
“Don’t push yourself,” Alex cautioned. “Don’t forget that Mana Exhaustion is bad for you.”
Fran sighed, knowing Alex was right. Some time ago, she had pushed herself to the limit, after which she was sick and incapacitated for a whole week.
Alex even had to take care of her while they were on the run. It was easily one of the most miserable experiences that Fran had endured after getting trapped inside the Shadow Forest.
“Are we really going to call it quits?” Fran asked. She was very unwilling to stop here, but she understood that this might just be a trap set for them by the Demon Lord.
Alex also felt reluctant about stopping now, but he understood that pushing their luck would be incredibly risky.
In the end, he prioritized their safety and made future plans in order to deal with a fully recovered Demon Lord and subordinates.
By this point, the pair was confident that the Demon Lord would no longer forcefully destroy the barrier but put all of his energy into hunting them down, even if he had to burn the entire forest just to find them.
Because of this, Alex and Fran made a Plan B, allowing them to hide deep underground.
Thanks to the Gaia Rings, they could expand their senses under the ground. Eventually, they found an underground river and a few caves that led to it.
Their plan was to hide underground for months, even years if they had to.
Alex had hunted countless beasts from the forest and had stolen the demon army’s food supplies.
The amount of food he had could feed him for a decade, even if he didn’t minimize his meals. If he wanted, he believed he could just wait for their enemies on the surface to starve to death.
“Let’s go, Fran,” Alex said.
“Un!” Fran nodded.
Together, they headed to the entrance of one of the caves that led to the underground river.
These entrances were powered by illusions, as well as riddled with traps that only affected their enemies.
In fact, some of these traps would cause the cave to collapse if the enemies were to enter its depths, trapping them deep underground.
As for Alex and Fran? They would simply head to the other underground tunnels that led to safety, allowing them to escape any kind of pursuit.

A/N: There is a chance that I will be admitted to the hospital. For nearly two weeks, I have been suffering from minimal pneumonia, and after two rounds of antibiotics, I still don’t feel any better.
My doctor said that if the heaviness on my chest persists, I should go to the hospital to have it properly checked by specialists. He added that there is a high chance that I will be admitted there, so that they can monitor the situation.
So if I am unable to upload any Chapters, you guys already know the story. It just sucks because I don’t want to spend my Christmas in the hospital.
