Chapter 2283: Oda Nobunaga’s Endless Castle [1]
—–
“The System! Andromeda! Are you there?! Can you reach them?!”
Andromeda appeared behind Drake in a ghostly, slightly more ethereal and transparent form.
“I am trying! But the waves of dark energies from this dimension are making everything unstable and weak!”
“I can also feel a strange sensation, like my whole body is being suppressed, and I can’t shake it off easily either! So frustrating! Was this that bastard’s plan all along?!”
“I believe so! But we have no time. I am currently trying to absorb this cursed energy and make it part of the system.”
“You can do that?”
“I can. It’ll help us adapt to this dimension quickly. As a System, I was given this power from birth, and it’s also how I helped you out before.”
“I see! Then let’s do that quickly!”
“We first need materials. You have to consume and synthesize them through the system!”
“Yokai from this dimension, you mean?”
“Anything, even this castle’s walls…!”
“Really? Then… Let’s destroy that bastard’s place! Gluttony! Orochi!”
Drake didn’t hold back at all. His Aura surged and erupted with immense power, shaping into a gigantic eight-headed white serpent, roaring furiously.
Somehow, Orochi was even stronger in this dimension and wasn’t suppressed by the cursed energies either.
Alongside the serpent heads, a mass of black and red fleshy tentacles emerged amid Drake’s Aura, with sharp jaws and eyes, roaring monstrously.
“You bastard, you’re finally letting us do something!”
“You don’t know how annoying it is to just be that sword!”
Orochi and Gluttony were both really angry…
Especially Gluttony.
“Also, what did you even do to the Demon King Seed?! Is it gone?! And now I’m part of your Ascendancy Law?!” Gluttony said angrily.
“Yeah, I’m also affected by that!” Orochi screamed. “You used us as materials?!”
“Calm down, there’s no time to discuss such pointless things! We’ve been together in this since the beginning and now is not the time!” Drake said, his usual carefree expression and tone of voice changing, becoming completely serious and even angry.
“H-Huh? Okay…” Orochi immediately felt intimidated, nodding without talking back.
“Don’t think you can order me around! We have yet to fight for you to Rank Up again!” Gluttony said angrily.
“I won’t do that stupid shit anymore! I already have something even better than your stupid heart, and now you belong to me, so you either obey, or I make you obey,” Drake said.
“…Damn it!” Gluttony quickly realized it was pretty damn pointless to fight back now, so he obeyed Drake’s orders.
“We’ll devour everything, this castle’s walls and anything that comes our way!” Drake said. “Now, go!”
He roared, charging forward through the near-infinite interior of this strange castle. His Aura, unleashing the power of Orochi and Gluttony combined, devoured not only the ancient Japanese wooden walls and paper doors but also the endless black fog permeating everything.
As he did, pieces of debris flew everywhere, quickly causing a terrible commotion, as Drake sensed thousands of presences creeping up behind him. He glared angrily, finding that through the massive destruction he had provoked, Yokai from various rooms crawled toward him.
There were thousands of them, of all shapes and colors. Some were as simple as walking, jumping parasols or sandals, and others looked like red, blue, or gray-skinned Oni. Drake didn’t even bother fighting them, as they were just small fry.
The moment they got close to him, gigantic, jawed tentacles tore them apart piece by piece, and massive serpent heads swallowed them whole, the power of Curses flowing within him even more strongly than before.
He had eaten Yokai and even the Generals of Oda Nobunaga, and although to an extent he had absorbed some of their power, it was never enough for what he needed right now.
“Andromeda, how is it going?”
“50% complete, keep going!”
“Alright.”
Drake nodded, using his massive body to charge through the castle, but all he saw were more and more rooms endlessly repeating with Yokai inside each room in varying numbers.
It was both frustrating and amusing. Oda Nobunaga seemed to seamlessly control this entire dimension, one that was crafted into this Japanese castle that endlessly repeated itself and seemed to be constantly moving.
Drake didn’t quite know if he was being watched right now or if Nobunaga was meticulously creating more rooms for him, but he thought that he wasn’t.
There were several players in this game, and he and his group were only one. The Human Venerables, that woman helping Oberon, and whatever else were all threats he had to account for to seize the power that Oberon was forging.
“That bastard somehow wants to both conquer all of Yggdrasil and take Oberon’s new body or something? I am not even sure what his goals are besides the most banal shit imaginable. That bastard is just doing it because he loves being a cunt rather than out of necessity. He’s similar to Oberon in that regard.”
There was indeed no reason for Oda Nobunaga to go this far. He had conquered a whole world with Zipangu, and coming here to try to conquer another, at the cost of the lives of three of his Generals by now, seemed simply stupid and incoherent.
However, Drake couldn’t argue with a man like this or whatever convictions he had. Oda Nobunaga wasn’t normal. He was a monster in human clothing, the vessel for Zipangu’s strongest demon, and a madman who would go far to achieve his goals.
Conquering and unifying Zipangu under a single flag wasn’t enough for him. He wanted more. Perhaps peace had bored him, and perhaps his generals were like him, just as crazy and also thirsty and hungry for blood, battles, and war once more.
There were many theories inside Drake’s head, many things that could have happened, many things that could happen, and many reasons why things were the way they were right now.
But none of them mattered. Nothing he could guess would change his current situation, so he decided to focus on what was in front of him.
