Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 2858: A Poem

Chapter 2858: A Poem
Alex considered all the Dao he would need to navigate through the Void. Dao of Space and Time were obvious, but there were other Dao that he would need to learn too.
He had the Dao of Spatial Expansion, so he would need to learn the Dao of Spatial Contraction, or at least come close enough to recognize it when it was happening.
Similarly, he would need to further improve his understanding of Dao of Time Stagnation and Time Swiftness for the same reason. He would need to improve his ability to be aware of time’s passing within the void, as one could easily be lost for years in there without knowing.
’I’ll also need to be aware of space distortion,’ Alex thought. That, thankfully, had a very easy example to learn through, ever-present in the skies above them.
The more he considered this, the more he became certain that this was the only way. Only through Void could they leave Hell.
Perhaps because of the lack of anticipation as they had when coming in, the journey back felt far faster. They had arrived at the edge of the cliff, at which point they were told to climb back to the top.
One by one, they began climbing the rocky cliff and arrived at the top where there was a ledge’s width of land left for them.
“Come back when you can, or when you want,” the tiger told Alex. “We will be waiting.”
Alex turned around and nodded. “I will, senior,” he said. “It will likely be when I’ve rid myself of this seal.”
The tiger nodded. “We will be waiting.”
After a brief farewell, Alex tore through the spatial wall before them, allowing the two to walk out. He walked behind them, arriving in the buffer zone between the two space walls.
He looked up at the sky there, seeing the darkness that hung above them. After hearing about the explanation, how they had to neutralize all Yang that came from outside, he understood now why there was a need for the darkness above.
In a way, this sliver of space between the tree and the rest of Hell was the only thing saving this world from an apocalypse. Should the tree ever fail to gather as much Yin as it normally does, it would weaken and thus fail to keep up its intent.
That should never be allowed to happen.
Alex tore through the outer wall and Death walked through it first to ward off the beasts that would come jumping at them. The old man walked out next, and then Alex walked through it at the end.
Once the wall healed itself, Alex looked at the darkness outside, the night that would soon turn to day.
The clamoring beasts hadn’t stopped clawing at the spatial wall even with Death’s presence. The most they had done was leave them alone.
Alex watched the beasts struggle to go in, to get more of the Elixir that they knew was good for them. None of them truly understood why they were there or what was inside, but they knew the only way to improve in life was to go inside.
And they would never be able to go inside. They would die here, everything that had helped them become what they were going back into the land for others to consume and grow.
It was a cycle that would never stop.
“What now?” the old man asked. “Are you two going to immediately start attempting to learn from the Void?”
“No,” Bladedance said. “I just woke up from a long slumber and was made to meet a Primordial. I would like to take some time to reconsider everything.”
Alex nodded. “I definitely need some rest. It’s been a while since I’ve cultivated too. I am a little low on Qi.”
“Okay,” the old man said. “Then would you two come to my sect? You can stay there for as long as you want.”
Alex narrowed his eyes. “Will they let us in?” he asked. “It has been no more than two days since they tried to kill us. I don’t think we’ll be welcome there.”
“I am the one who established that sect. I am their ancestor. They will most certainly listen to me,” the old man said.
“Let’s just go,” Bladedance said. She didn’t care for their politics. She had enough strength that she could ignore it all.
The old man brought out a flying ship and had Alex and Death climb into it. Then, they took off.
This ship was much faster than other ships Alex had been on. The old man stayed at the helm, a spear in his hand, ready to fight any beast that should emerge while they were on their way.
The path they took was straight out of the core region of Hell, likely going directly to the Endless Night sect.
After so many dozens of years, Alex was finally making his way there. And this time, there was no mishap that stopped him.
An hour or so later, the ship arrived at an area at the edge of the core region that appeared to be a desolate canyon.
“We’re here,” the old man said. “The sect is built inside the canyon.”
The two of them got off, with only Alex looking forward to see the sect.
“I don’t remember it looking like this,” Bladedance said.
“We had to change location,” the old man said. “You destroyed everything back then.”
Bladedance gave an apologetic look.
Alex walked along with the old man until they arrived at the gate. As they did, Alex saw something carved on the side of the canyon where the gate was.
“What’s that?” he asked, pointing to the text.
“A poem,” the old man said. “It was popular back when I was young, and is the reason why I named my sect what I did.”
Alex walked toward it, getting a better view of it. He read the poem.
The Voidseers gaze a pattern bright,

Speaking of a future free of fright.
When nothing is left, and nothing is right,
There will come two to cease our plight.1
To bring us life, to bring us light.
To bring an end to the endless night.
