Pearl quite looked forward to what his grandfather was going to suggest to him.
“Two Creations would be perfect for me. I have more or less confirmed one I will be getting already, and then I might even get the other one.”
“Hmm? Did you not just say you didn’t know what you wanted?” Bai Jingshen asked.
“No, I don’t know what I want, but this is something I know I need to get. Brother found both for me, so I will be getting them most likely.”
Bai Jingshen tilted his head to the side. “What is it that you will be getting?” he asked.
Pearl moved slightly closer to his grandpa, almost whispering to relay what he was going to say. “While in Hell, we found the Tree of Life, grandpa.”
Bai Jingshen almost immediately recoiled in shock upon hearing the three words. “Tree of Life?” he asked, his eyes widening in shock. His words turned to a whisper next. “Are you sure?”
“Yes,” Pearl said. “It talked to brother and told him what it was. It also gave us fruits which we’ve long since eaten. It’s improved my body and bloodline quite a lot. Look at this, grandpa.”
Pearl lifted his paw and generated a small burst of Qi from it that appeared and disappeared just as quickly.
It was quite a weak Qi overall, but the surprise it gave Bai Jingshen was no small thing.
“Wood Qi!” he said. “But… but your Wood spiritual root was all but destroyed.”
“It was,” Pearl said. “But after eating the fruit, it’s improved my Wood root just enough that you could almost count it usable. This has given me much hope that I can now maybe evolve my Azure Dragon’s bloodline if I get the chance to.”
Bai Jingshen remained frozen for quite a bit. “What incredible luck. First the Nine Yang Divine Tree, then the World Tree. Did he take away the Tree of Life too? Is that what you want to make your Creation?”
“No,” Pearl said. “We only took away the fruit. That tree… its trunk is larger than this palace. It was almost impossible to take it away, not to mention it was keeping Hell together in the first place. Brother will know more about that.”
Bai Jingshen wanted to continue this topic, but it seemed he would have to move on. “Then what? If you don’t want the tree, then is the fruit going to be your Creation?”
Pearl raised an eyebrow. “I probably could, but I don’t think it will be that helpful. Brother already received like two dozen of those fruits, so we have enough seeds in the first place. No, what I am going to get as a Creation is something else that was there with the Tree of Life. It was the spirit of a beast that guarded the tree. You won’t believe what that beast was, grandpa.”
Bai Jingshen leaned in further, trying to hear the answer as clearly as he could.
Pearl answered. “A Primordial!”
Bai Jingshen’s eyes slowly widened. “A WHAT?”
“A Primordial. It was a Guardian Tiger, grandpa. The same beast the White Tigers are descended from. Its spirit guarded the tree, and brother managed to persuade it to get me a piece of its body. I have its right arm.”
Bai Jingshen’s face froze in a state of shock, his eyebrows staying raised the entire time. His wide eyes only lowered after a while as the information he received had finally been processed.
“So… you are going to make one of your Creations the Guardian Tiger?” he asked with a gulp. “I… I do not know what to say.”
Pearl lowered a little. “It’s not bad, right?”
“No, no. It’s incredible. Truly. I just… I was surprised. That’s an incredible Creation. The Guardian Tiger is known mostly for its defensive techniques, so you might end up inheriting some of the techniques when you turn into it.”
“Is that how Creations work?” Pearl asked.
“Yes, your entire body turns into one instead of remaining who you were,” Bai Jingshen said. “For example, if you were to become a Vermillion Bird through a Creation, you would lose your Supreme Metal root and instead gain a Supreme Fire root. You would keep your physical strength since it’s body cultivation, but you would lose your other abilities, like being able to cultivate your body just by cultivating your Qi.”
“So you have to be very careful what you take as a Creation when it comes to something you can transform into. Guardian Tiger is perfect given that you are a White Tiger.”
Pearl nodded along. “I won’t lose anything by turning into one, right?” he asked.
“It’s not like your regular human transformation. It expends your spiritual strength to keep you transformed as your Creation. So you likely won’t be able to keep it up for more than a few hours to maybe a day at most. Transformation Creations usually end up consuming the most spiritual energy.”
“I see,” Pearl said.
“So, one of them is a Guardian Tiger,” Bai Jingshen said. “What about the other one? Is that the one you’re not certain of?”
“Yes,” Pearl said. “I have a beast core brother gave me that I can make my Creation.”
“A beast core? What beast?” Bai Jingshen asked.
Pearl paused for a long moment. “I… don’t know.”
“You don’t know?” Bai Jingshen asked.
Pearl shook his head. “Brother said it was something good that either Whisker or I could use as our Creation.”
“But you don’t know what it is,” Bai Jingshen said.
“No. Brother never told us.”
Bai Jingshen narrowed his eyes. “Alright, we will ask him when he returns. If it’s good…”
“Oh, brother doesn’t know,” Pearl said. Before he could be questioned, he quickly gave more information. “The core was something brother got during the period of time that he doesn’t remember.”
Bai Jingshen’s face calmed a bit, turning serious. “He found it in the Realm within Realms?” he asked.
“If that is where he went to, yes,” Pearl said.
“Hmm… we will have to consider this further later on,” Bai Jingshen said. “For now, let me tell you what other Creations you can make.”
