Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3166 A Harrowing Task

Chapter 3166 A Harrowing Task
Alex put his focus into learning the tortoise’s bloodline and concentrating the blood. It took him no more than two months to do it all, including all the safety checks to make sure he hadn’t missed anything.
By the end, he had 5 vials of blood, and 30 more days to go. He could’ve told the matriarch that he was ready to go ahead with the task, but he figured that he could use the time understanding more about Unity.
He wanted to continue with the previous test, only more thoroughly this time.
“I have 7 spirit roots, so I will need to figure out how my Unity is affected based on what spirit roots I’m missing. That’s 7 sessions of cultivation with each missing spirit root.”
Only, Alex quickly realized that it wouldn’t be enough. His tests needed to go beyond just a single missing spirit root and delve into more than that. He would have to test combinations of each missing spirit root, ranging from a single missing to 6 at a time.
After a quick calculation, Alex realized that he would have to experiment in this way for 126 different sessions.
“And for the sake of keeping each test the same, I cannot improve or worsen my spirit roots during this time in any way,” Alex told himself. “I cannot allow any other changes to come to me either. That means no adding aura to the tree origin either.”
He couldn’t afford to change the aura within his dantian as it would affect his Qi. If the Yin bead were to add Yin to the Qi, it would disrupt his entire flow.
“126 sessions,” he mused to himself. “If I were to spend a month cultivating each time, it will take me 10 years of pure cultivation.”
That was no different than spending a decade in closed cultivation.
He had so many things to do that he simply couldn’t do that right now, could he? But if he didn’t, then he would miss the time as his Qi was definitely going to change in the future.
As Alex entered a dilemma he hadn’t foreseen, another thought struck his mind that destroyed the dilemma in one fell sweep.
“I’ll have to test with the various pills too, especially the ones that improve my neutral- Wait a second. Does the neutral spirit root count as well?” he asked himself, dumbstruck that he hadn’t considered it to begin with.
He had been so concerned about his Five Elemental Yin-Yang Root that he forgot that he had an 8th root as well. A root that every mortal in this world was born with.
The neutral root.
The only ones that Alex was aware of that lacked even this root were the clones created by Senior Yang as a replacement for when the real bodies died, and that was because he did not have enough materials to create proper replacement clones.
Alex frowned as he redid the calculations he had done earlier and arrived at the harrowing fact that instead of 126 sessions, he would have to do 254.
That was over 2 decades of cultivation. Even if Alex somehow pulled it down to just 2 weeks per cultivation session, it would still be over a decade, and he wouldn’t have enough information to make the necessary judgment.
That wasn’t good at all.
10 years of cultivation would be more than enough for Alex to be ready to move on to Immortal Transcendent 2nd realm. Only, because he wouldn’t have started transcending all of his Origins by then, he wouldn’t be able to break through.
He would hit a bottleneck, unable to make any improvements, making any cultivation session around that point entirely pointless. The
information he would gain around then would be entirely botched because of his bottleneck.
“And that is not even considering the fact that I want to make various pills that can affect the spirit roots to see how things change,” Alex thought with a deep sigh. He needed way more than 10 years to test everything, time which he did not have.
After some deep thought, Alex came to a decision.
“I’ll need to make some solid preparations before I can start these tests,” he thought. Some of the preparations he needed to make by then included the fact that he would have to have every aspect of his body and soul improve to a point where they could form no
bottleneck.
As of right now, Alex was pretty much done with that, except for his Origins. So, his next task would be to start transcending all the Origins he could. Once they had all advanced significantly, he wouldn’t have to worry about any bottlenecks and continue without trouble.
“Any changes I can make to my spirit root by then should also be made,” Alex thought. That included the fact that he had to deal with the issue of his Yin bead by then as well.
After some thought, he also realized that he needed something more accurate to test his cultivation sessions.
“Is there a way to test Unity?” he wondered. That would make things
so easy, but he wasn’t sure the humans were even aware of what Unity was. At least, he hadn’t seen anything like that in Godslayer’s
memories.
What he had seen were artifacts that tested the improvement in one’s cultivation base. They were mostly artifacts bought by expensive sects and families, but Alex certainly had enough resources for that.
He would need to revisit Godslayer’s memories to figure out precisely how that artifact had to be made, but it would be his easiest task yet.
It took an hour or so to go through everything that he would need to do or make before he started his tests. Once he figured all of that out, he sat in his room with nothing else to do since there was another
month to go before visiting the matriarch.
After some time, a thought came to Alex.
“It will all be useless in the end if I am wrong about spirit roots being
necessary in the first place,” he said.
So, he cut into his torso and tore off a few spirit roots.
