Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3372 Ruins of Lin Family

Chapter 3372 Ruins of Lin Family
There was nothing to see within the Second Scar sea. It was, after all, just a massive wound on the surface of the realm that was filled with water. The energy surrounding it was interesting, but that was the extent of it.
None of the Celestials had much to say about it either, so once they explored the sea, they decided to leave the place.
Before that, however, Alex also took some water from the sea. Since what he took was nothing more than a drop in the bucket of the overall sea, the Celestials didn’t mind either.
When they were about to return, the White Tiger patriarch spoke up.
“I remember the palace of the Lin family being right beyond those mountains,” he said. “Should we go visit it now that we’re here?”
“The old rulers?” Pearl asked with a surprised look. “Should we go there, brother?”
“We can take a quick look,” Alex said. “I’m quite curious to see it as well.”
Irontail and Peachbone nodded as well, agreeing to the journey. Alex was certain they would be hesitant, but they showed no signs of it at all. In fact, they seemed excited to show off their exploits.
The palace was truly close enough that they reached it in a matter of minutes. But when they arrived there, Alex realized that it was wrong to call what he saw a palace at all.
What he saw was a decrepit landscape-the aftermath of an
enormous battle from a long time ago, but the land had yet to forget its scars. What used to be a palace was now a ruin of marble, alabaster, and granite. Giant pillars stood, but clearly not even half their original height.
A bloody scent still lingered in the air, making everyone there wonder
just how many people must have died here that day.
The Lin family, who used to be the rulers of the past, and the Wu family, who were the current rulers, had fought right here, and history was clear for everyone to see.
The winners had made their mark on the continent as its next rulers, while the losers had been completely forgotten.
“The battle lasted four months in total,” Irontail spoke. “There were a few skirmishes at first, but we didn’t truly start attacking until a long time afterward. You can read the records of the battle if you wish to, but the truth is it was a simple battle.”
Alex turned to look at them. “I heard they had no Celestials at all, is that right?”
“They had one, but he was quite old,” Peachbone answered. “He couldn’t survive fighting the two of us. After that, our people took care of the rest. We eradicated the main bloodline, and then many of the branches as well. Anyone who still lives is a relative of a relative of the royal family of the past.”
Alex didn’t speak, choosing to remain silent as he looked at the destruction down below. Even though it was from many generations ago, even before the Eternal War had come to an end, he could still feel the pain that came from seeing the end of an entire family.
And that too, not because they were evil or had made any mistake that they had to pay for. Their end came because they were too weak to place themselves above the others.
“What a shame,” the White Tiger patriarch spoke in the silence, drawing everyone’s attention. “To see the creation of the Architect ruined in such a manner.”
Alex raised an eyebrow, staring back at the ruins. That’s right. This was made by the Architect, wasn’t it?’
“They weren’t going to leave the palace, so we had no choice,” Irontail said.
“We understand,” the patriarch said. “It’s just a shame, is all.”
He looked around. “I wonder how long it has been since I last came here. Surely it was over four hundred thousand years ago. I was a new Celestial back then, so this was one of the places I was invited to.”
“Some back then said that this was a bigger palace than what the dragons have. Over there, inside that tall pillar, used to be the Lin family’s library. You should have plundered it already, haven’t you?”
The monkeys nodded. “There is nothing of value remaining here anymore.”
The patriarch nodded. He looked in another direction. “They used to have an ancestral land near those mountains that they called the Dao realm. Their children could go inside and learn various daos that the ancestors had left behind.”
“Over there was a tower before, where individuals in the Immortal realm could go to test themselves.”
“There was a section over there where Qi was quite concentrated, so everyone came to cultivate there.”
“They had an eternal furnace over there with a strange flame that burned eternally, next to a Voidgate that was constantly guarded. Neither seems to exist now.”
“A massive Qilin statue also used to exist somewhere in the back that made you think it was the Qilin itself that stood there. That too is
gone.”
The White Tiger patriarch reminisced about various things he had seen in the past when he had come here, speaking for everyone else
to hear.
Alex, Pearl, and Bai Jingshen could only imagine what sort of a
majestic palace this place used to be. And now, it was nothing but a memory in the minds of those that had once lived over a hundred thousand years ago.
The patriarch finished speaking, letting a silence stretch among them
for a long time. After a while, he gave a slight nod.
“Well, I don’t think there is much left for us to do now. Why don’t we
return?”
Alex gave a somber nod as well.
“We should head back now. It is time.”
Once he said as much, they all left the ruined castle of the Lin family
and headed next to the interrealm teleportation formation so they could finally get back to the Land of the Blessed Sun.
