Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3388: Yueming

Chapter 3388: Yueming
Alex looked around the palace at everyone whose eyes were now focused entirely on him. The only time they moved was to look at the mural, and even then, those irises flicked right back at him.
All of their eyes held the same question.
Was he really the Sun God?
Bai Jingshen stopped Alex from responding to any questions and stepped before him to take charge of the situation.
“Where did you hear such a thing?” he asked the three tigers.
Bai Fulin stepped closer as well, facing the three tigers, and after a bit, Bai Jingshen’s mother stepped in closer too.
“Does it matter?” Bai Caoyang answered. “All I heard was that the Sun God was present here, and more importantly, he is none other than the human we saw back then. As far as we’re aware, he was there when our children died a decade ago.”
His words caused the many tigers that were beginning to gather to look at Alex in a new light. If he really was the Sun God, then why would he kill so many White Tigers? Was there something they weren’t aware of?
Bai Jingshen frowned slightly.
Bai Caoyang appeared courageous enough on the outside, despite having been beaten so thoroughly just a decade back by Bai Jingshen, that one had to wonder what tricks he had stored away for this situation.
What was giving him this level of courage?
Alex stepped forward, taking charge of the situation. “You don’t have to ask any further. Yes, it’s true. I am the Sun God,” he said.
His words caused even Bai Caoyang and the two tigers behind him to pause in surprise. Clearly, they hadn’t expected Alex to be this forthcoming regarding his identity.
“Really?” Bai Caoyang asked, seemingly conflicted about what to do next.
“Yes,” Alex said. “I have no reason to lie to you.”
“Alright, then would you mind proving it to us?” Bai Caoyang asked.
Alex shook his head. “I have no need to prove anything. I am me, and as long as I know that, it is enough.”
A strange smile came upon the tiger in that moment.
“Please,” he said. “I insist.”
Alex narrowed his eyes. Was he missing something? Why were they so interested in him being the Sun God suddenly? How had they even found out?
Before Alex could think of anything at all, a strong presence made itself known to the group. Everyone’s eyes turned to an empty location that remained empty for a second longer before it was filled.
The Patriarch appeared out of nowhere, teleporting into that location in a flash. It wasn’t true teleportation, but more a distortion of space through sheer willpower.
His arrival brought along a deep silence, as no one in that location was able to speak easily.
“Young Caoyang,” the Patriarch spoke in a deep voice. “What trouble have you come to create?”
Caoyang was clearly scared of the Patriarch, but he didn’t shy away from the confrontation. “Patriarch, I am not here to create any trouble. I merely heard that the Sun God was here and came to meet him.”
The Patriarch narrowed his eyes. “I see. And have you met him?”
Caoyang paused for a moment. “Well, I’ve met a human, but I cannot be certain if he is the Sun God or not. All I’ve done for now is ask him for some proof, so we may be certain that he is who he says he is.”
The Patriarch turned toward Alex, waiting for him to respond.
Alex quickly relayed what he had said. “I do not wish to prove anything.”
“Well, you’ve heard it,” the Patriarch said, turning back toward Caoyang. “He wishes not to prove anything. Now, stop causing trouble and leave.”
Bai Caoyang frowned, seemingly insulted. “Patriarch, is simply asking for something trouble? He says he is the Sun God. Are we to accept that without any proof? If he is the Sun God, then shouldn’t we first figure out whether he is telling the truth or not? Or is there a reason why you wish for us not to find the truth? Could it be…”
Caoyang’s face broke into a somewhat twisted grin.
The Patriarch scoffed. “I don’t know what you are trying to play at, junior, but I suggest you leave now. Otherwise, I must punish you for disobeying your Patriarch.”
Caoyang hesitated for a moment, seemingly taking a step back. One thing he didn’t want was to be punished for no reason. But he stopped moving suddenly and returned to his initial stance from a second ago.
The Patriarch was just about to open his mouth to say something when a strong aura appeared close by once again.
A massive White Tiger appeared out of the east gate, slowly revealing herself to the group.
“Dear cousin,” the White Tiger spoke in a feminine voice as she walked toward where Bai Caoyang was standing. “Why must you try to send Caoyang away so quickly? He hasn’t done anything wrong, has he? I’ve been watching, and all he’s really done is ask a few questions.”
The Patriarch’s eyes narrowed. “Cousin Yueming,” he spoke in a low voice. “I wasn’t aware that you had left your closed cultivation.”
“It was recent,” the female White Tiger spoke. “I couldn’t remain in closed cultivation, especially after hearing all the anguish from our children. So many young White Tigers have died while I was gone.”
Alex and the rest could feel a suffocating aura coming from the female White Tiger before them. It wasn’t just her cultivation base in the Celestial realm that made the situation suffocating, but also her White Tiger bloodline, which was quite strong.
Among everyone Alex had met, not counting Pearl and Bai Jingshen, she might have had the strongest bloodline right after the Patriarch.
“This is bad,” Bai Jingshen said in a low voice that only Alex could hear.
“What’s happening?” Alex asked.
“That’s Bai Yueming,” he explained. “An ancestor of the clan, and the only logical person who could ever replace the Patriarch to become the head of the White Tigers. And she might just be here to do that.”
