Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3454: Records of Half Gods

Chapter 3454: Records of Half Gods
Alex looked at the stack of books that was brought to him. They appeared old, made of stained parchment and beast hide as covers. He used his spiritual sense on them, but found the books themselves to be bound with Heavenly Silkthreads, so that was no use.
The only way to do it was to open the books and read them directly.
“Should I bring the books over right now?” the Wine God asked.
Alex turned around in surprise to see the man standing beside him. He hadn’t realized that the old man hadn’t left the room. He was sure he was going to leave to find the other books.
“No need,” Bladedance answered. “I’ll read these for now. We’ll figure something out together.”
It took him a moment to understand that the question wasn’t directed toward him, but toward his master instead.
“You wanted to read some books of your own?” Alex asked.
“A few,” Bladedance said. “I’ve wanted to know what has happened since I began losing my mind. And more so than that, there are a few things I’m curious about.”
Alex nodded slowly. He shouldn’t have thought that they had come all the way here solely for his purpose alone. She would have things she wanted to learn as well.
Alex took the very first book and read the title embossed on the cover.
Legacy of the Sky God.
’Sky God? Which one?’ he thought, flipping open the book. The one in question was the old Sky God before the current one. No one knew how he had grown to become as strong as he had, but ever since people could remember, he had always been the Sky God.
Some people believed the Sky God to be over a million years old, but there was no evidence to support it. The Sky God’s Palace had also existed for a long time, but as for how long, no one knew.
The book spoke of the Sky God’s exploits. How he found the corpse of the Primordial Roc during the attack on one of the Demon realms, and how he had one of his trusted friends turn it into a powerful artifact.
It spoke of the Sky God’s visit to the Realm within Realms, where he found the secret to the teleportation formations that were now in every single major world, allowing individuals to travel between the realms without having to travel using the old ways.
It spoke of his influence in the war and the world, and how there wasn’t a single person, human or demon, who hadn’t heard about him.
He was easily the greatest human figure to ever live, unfortunately meeting a short end after his meeting with the Godkiller.
Alex flipped through the pages, learning about the Sky God while searching for references to how he was a Half-God. There was some information regarding what the Half-God was, but besides it, there wasn’t much.
Alex closed the book after completing it, a little disappointed at the lack of information, but he had expected that. Half-God was a rather large secret for the gods as it gave them access to an entirely separate power that they could use to command Heaven itself. It wasn’t going to be randomly recorded anywhere.
Alex read the next few books, which also happened to be a sort of biography of various other Half-gods: Water God, Fire God, Ice God, Mountain God, Tree God, Sea God, etc.
As Alex read through them, he saw commonalities between the gods and what they had.
“You were right, master,” he slowly said. “These are all gods who name themselves after the elements or something associated with them. It appears to be important.”
Bladedance nodded. “Has there been a Half-God that isn’t named after the elements?” she asked the Wine God.
“None as far as I know,” the Wine God answered. “Every Half-God has been associated with one of the 7 elements or their derivatives.”
Alex nodded. “According to this book, the Half-Gods were the only gods that existed in the past,” he said. “The other gods for weapons and professions came afterwards.”
That was true too in Alex’s memories left behind by Godslayer. The gods seemingly wanted a representative for each of the 33 available Immortal realms, so they expanded their numbers. Although, it was also partly done for propaganda to help get more humans to get into the war. They needed more points of influence.
Alex read through more of the books, frowning slightly as he found another connection between them.
All gods had cults. They had people who practically worshiped them as figures that were too high for anyone else to touch.
’Do I need a cult as well?’ Alex wondered. What if that was the only way to increase the amount of energy he had?
He had more or less come to agree with the fact that the number of people that seemingly worshiped him added to the amount of energy that he had. So, should he get more people to worship him?
That was something he would have to think about.
Alex reached for another book, a rather thin one this time, and saw the title atop it.
Clash of the Gods.
Curious, he read inside and found it to be a record of all the times various gods had fought each other. The records were in no particular order, so Alex read through them.
The records included not only gods, but those fighting for the position of the god. Bladedance’s name was there as well when she had fought someone else to become the Sword God.
The other names were listed as well, including Purplerain, who had defeated every other sword user to become the Sword God.
Alex got to the older battles as well, where people who claimed to be gods fought each other.
The Winter God fought the Ice God. The Wind God fought the Air God. The Storm God fought the Lightning God.
These people weren’t fighting for the position of the God. They already called themselves gods.
’They fight to be the only one,’ Alex thought as he understood what was happening. ’Only one god of each element may exist at a time.’
