Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3455: The Real True Gods

Chapter 3455: The Real True Gods
’Two gods of the same element can’t exist at the same time,’ Alex thought. ’If they do, they will always fight each other so only one can prevail. Which means, if I were to try to create a cult and establish myself as a god, the one who shares my element, the Fire God, would certainly try to kill me.’
Alex had been told this fact before, which was why he hadn’t told anyone about him being the Sun God. But it was only now that he understood how important it was that he follow that advice.
’I can’t reveal myself to the world just yet for my own safety,’ he decided.
He closed the book once he finished it and handed it over to Bladedance, who read each book he did, just to make sure nothing was missed.
“Has anyone named themselves Sun God in the past? Or maybe the Moon God?” Bladedance asked as she looked through the names. “I haven’t come across a single one.”
“They don’t name themselves the Moon God, likely because of the name’s correlation with the demons. No human wanted to give the others any reason to suspect that they might be traitors,” the Wine God explained. “As for the Sun God, some did name themselves as such, but they eventually ended up changing their name to the Fire God.”
“Why is that?” Bladedance asked.
“I’m not sure. The records don’t say why.”
Alex picked through the remaining books to read some more and slowly learned a few more things, but nothing in there ever explained anything about the energy inside of him. Nothing in these records could tell him how he was supposed to use his energy at all.
“I’ve been curious about something,” Alex said. “You mentioned before that you couldn’t talk about the Half-Gods in fear of their retaliation, master. So why do you seem to not care about it now that we’re doing it?”
“First of all, I’m not revealing anything to any outsiders since you’re already a Half-God,” Bladedance said. “And secondly, we’re in this room with so many Heavenly Silkthreads that they couldn’t possibly learn anything from the heavens even if they tried to.”
Alex looked up, his eyes widening slightly. “Right, that’s what they do,” he thought as he realized how safe it was. “I should really wear a thread around my body to keep the gods from finding out.”
“You would need a lot more to fully hide your conversations from the Half-Gods, but don’t worry about that for now. Read the books.”
Alex nodded and reached for the final book. He had been reading for such a long time now that he hadn’t even realized he had gotten to the last book.
He read the title, and instantly his eyes widened in surprise.
The True Gods that Exist Among Us.
’True Gods?’ Alex thought, thoroughly curious. He had expected all the books to have information on the Half-Gods, so seeing a book about the True Gods was indeed surprising.
Alex opened the book, and on the very first page, he saw the book talk about the Sun God and the Moon Goddess. It called them the True Gods, but also claimed that they were mythological figures that no one knew were real or not. There was no proof for either truth. So instead, the book focused on the real True Gods that existed.
Alex frowned. ’The real True Gods?’
Confused, he turned the page and read what the book said.
According to the book, among them lived beings that could only be considered gods. They were different from the Half-Gods as they weren’t humans that simply claimed to be gods. These individuals were truly gods.
Where a Half-God was once a regular person that grew to reach their status, the actual gods were born with their power, having always been that strong.
Alex was fascinated by what he read, continuing further in.
The one major difference that separated them from the Half-Gods was that Half-Gods created their cults once they reached their status. Without being a god, they could never have followers.
And yet, true gods were different. They didn’t form cults. They were formed from cults.
People came together to pray to the gods, and their prayers gave birth to an impossibility that became the True Gods.
’Interesting,’ Alex thought, flipping the page. As soon as he read the next sentence, his breathing hitched and his eyes froze wide open.
These True Gods also went by another name altogether.
Children of Heaven.
’What?’
Alex quickly read further on, learning more about them. The more he read, the more he was confused about how it was possible.
He stopped his reading for a moment, trying to remember how it could fit with Rosemist. Rosemist was a Child of Heaven, but she didn’t have a cult. She didn’t have—
’No, wait,’ Alex thought as he realized something he had missed this entire time. ’It doesn’t have to be a cult. It simply needs to be a group of like-minded people that prayed to her. But were there any?’
It didn’t even take Alex a moment to realize that she did indeed have people that prayed to her. It wasn’t precisely her that they prayed to, but the mountain she lived in.
The Hand of the God they called it. Billions of people looking up at the mist-covered mountains, praying for a god that may or may not exist.
Where one didn’t exist, their prayers created one. Rosemist was that creation.
’I was forced to show those alchemists the Holy Site, wasn’t I?’ Alex thought. ’They were followers of Rosemist too then.’
As Alex understood what Rosemist was, he began to realize just how incredibly lucky he had been at how kind and friendly she had been to him. Had she any intention to kill him, she could’ve likely succeeded.
’No wonder she didn’t want to explain what she was,’ Alex thought. ’Anyone who knew her as a God would treat her differently. She didn’t want that. She only wanted a friend.’
