Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3460: The Death Sages of the Death Cult

Chapter 3460: The Death Sages of the Death Cult
Before there was the decision to allow more gods to appear, no one could become a Death God. As such, everyone had to start as a Death Sage.
Duskcorpse was one of the first Death Sages to appear, carrying within her the frightening power to command the Death Dao. The power had come from her own deathly constitution, which produced Death aura at a rate that was thousands of times more than what a regular body did.
Duskcorpse had to learn to control her Death aura in order to survive, and had thus become a master of the Death Dao. Her exploits were known far and wide as she was a powerful figure during the time of war.
Since she was also the very first person to become the Death God.
After becoming the Death God, she had established her Death cult, which grew in size quickly, encompassing many of the Death Sages that came after her.
“Holy shit!” Alex couldn’t help but look at the names of the Death Sages that belonged in her cult. “There were 9 Death Sages under the first Death God? I wasn’t even aware there could be that many Sages at one time.”
“These Death Sages are an anomaly,” the Wine God explained immediately. “To become a Death Sage, you need only 2 things. A decently high cultivation base, and an understanding of the Death Dao. There are so few people that end up learning the Death Dao in this world that becoming a Sage of it has simple requirements.”
“Of course, that is not to say that they do not deserve that title. By merely being present around the first Death God, they were able to learn the Death Dao at a rate that was never before possible. That is why her cult was able to produce so many of them.”
“Oh!” Alex said with a look of understanding and read through the names listed there.
Rotspine, Somberskull, Lastwail, Nightking, Deadcall, Tombmaker, Curselake, Mournfall, and Deathgrim were all Death Sages at the same time.
Alex flipped through the pages, reading about the details on these Death Sages. Funnily enough, most of the information on them was similar. These Death Sages had come from regions around the world where the war had torn their land apart. Death had been their daily life and that was where they had gained their first understanding of the Death Dao.
When the Death God created her cult, these people had joined from all around the world and gotten a deeper understanding of Death, fully learning the Death Dao. They had all helped in the war, each in different regions.
Somberskull was a man who was considered the strongest Death Sage besides Duskcorpse. His unnamed technique allowed him to poison people in a group around him with his Death aura, making it harder for them to recover from their injuries.
Rotspine was an archer. She used arrows brimming with Death aura to attack her targets from far away. Even if the arrows themselves were stopped, her enemies ended up absorbing the aura, thus becoming weaker for the remainder of the battle.
Nightking was a man who used his technique to create tendrils of darkness that wrapped around his victims, filling them with Death aura. Any victim that did die in the midst of him using his technique would surrender their body to him momentarily, allowing him to fight with it.
Mournfall was a woman who mixed her Dao of Sound with her Death Dao to create somber music that would induce overwhelming sorrow in the hearts of all her enemies, making it difficult for them to continue the battle at any proper capacity.
Deathgrim fought with a sword. He had gained Duskcorpse’s technique to utilize Death aura to empower his own body, so he fought up close against his enemies, drawing in their Death aura to grow as the battle progressed. He was said to have skills enough to become a Sword Sage too, but never did.
There was little known about Tombmaker, except that he had artifacts empowered with Death aura that were strong enough that even his allies vied for them. He was last seen fighting in a battle near one of the Demon realms before vanishing.
Curselake was a woman who used her Dao of Water and Death Dao, as well as her understanding of alchemy, to create a special liquid which she fought with. The deathly liquid was strong enough to corrode weak artifacts and poison anyone who happened to be touched by it. Due to the Demons’ lack of pills, this was an especially terrifying power.
Deadcall was a man who fought with zombies. He bonded with the corpses of the fallen Demons and used them to fight against the others. Most Demons could hardly fight against their own people, making him a powerful foe on the battlefield.
Finally, Lastwail was a man with a deathly mental technique that was described as the victims feeling their mind burn away. The only thing one ever heard from their mouth at the end of their life was a piercing, bone-numbing wail.
Each of the 9 Death Sages included a description of their physical self as well, but because Alex could hardly remember what the person sounded or looked like, those descriptions didn’t help him at all.
Instead, Alex could only just go off the fact that the Death Sage had been a man, so it could be any of these men.
He wasn’t done reading yet. The ones he read about were only the Death Sages in the Death God’s cult. There were also independent ones he had to read about next.
“Let’s see,” Alex thought, reading up on their names.
They were Pallideyes, Gravespinner, Endbringer and Ghostmind.
None of the names were ones he recognized, at least not from his memories of Godslayer. Godslayer hardly spent time with the others anyway, so it wasn’t a surprise that he didn’t.
Alex could only continue, so he reached out and flipped the book over to the next page, beginning his read of the Death Sage called Pallideyes.
