Chapter 183: Tension [3] – Bloodforge Halberd
The Commander and his subordinates walked out of the building shortly after.
After he exchanged a few more pleasantries with Liora and promised that he would visit again if he ever had a chance, he turned around and left.
Soon, the Commander and his subordinates had left Liora’s residence behind them.
The moment they walked out of the building’s view, the expression on the Commander’s face changed.
The kind and almost flattering smile vanished, replaced by utmost seriousness.
Behind him, his subordinates noticed that change.
One of them flinched and hesitated whether to speak until the Commander’s rough voice reached his ears:
“Say what it is that you want. You’ve followed me for so long. You should understand my personality.”
These words made this person relax.
No longer hesitating, he asked the question troubling him:
“Commander, is there any reason why you brought those things to that person? The Blessed Weapon is fine, since it is the reward of His Majesty.”
“But the Godhead… that is your own item. Its value is immeasurable…”, the Great Knight spoke.
The Commander didn’t immediately respond.
He remained silent for a few seconds before letting out a deep sigh.
“You don’t understand… In fact, the things I gave her might not interest that person much.”, he said, and seeing the curiosity in the eyes of the two Great Knights, he explained:
“You are both Great Knights, but you’ve yet to reach the peak of this rank. Hence, you can’t understand that person’s strength. I’m afraid that everyone has underestimated her.”, he shook his head.
“She is only an opportunity away from becoming a King of Knights. With a suitable weapon, she can perhaps contend with one even if she doesn’t advance any further.”
The Commander’s words stopped the Great Knights in their tracks.
They understood what this meant.
If the Commander’s words were to be trusted, the seemingly unassuming woman they had just met had reached the pinnacle of the Iron Armor Empire.
As long as she wanted, her status would be infinitely elevated, surpassing that of any of the Empire’s nobles.
After all, as far as they knew, no noble had become a King of Knights yet.
It took a few seconds for the two subordinates to react.
When they did, they discovered that the Commander had already walked far away, seemingly deep in thought and forgetting about them.
Clearly, they were not the only ones surprised.
The two Great Knights could only chase after the Commander in a hurry.
—
On the other side, Liora didn’t know about the conversation between the Commander and his subordinates.
But even if she were to know, she would not pay much attention.
At the moment, her whole focus was on the two items placed in front of her—the imposing halberd and the Bloodline Seed.
Liora first reached out and grabbed the weapon.
As she weighed the halberd in her right hand, she gained a deeper understanding of it.
“Bloodforge Halberd…”, she recalled the name that the Commander had told her, given by the blacksmith responsible for its creation.
Though it was now in her possession and she could do as she wished with it, Liora felt no need to change its name.
She was more interested in its power.
“Besides its terrifying sharpness, extreme weight, and outstanding toughness, the only ability of the halberd is Bloodlust.”
“By using one’s blood as a fuel and allowing the halberd to devour it, one can temporarily boost their strength.”
This ability seemed very similar to Life Ignition. The difference being that Bloodlust did not have the drawback of consuming the user’s vitality and lifespan.
As long as the user rested adequately after each activation, they would be able to use Bloodlust an infinite number of times, with absolutely no drawbacks other than the “cooldown”.
“But this doesn’t mean that Life Ignition has become useless. Who said that these two abilities can’t be used at the same time?”, Liora muttered.
Immediately, she couldn’t help but wonder just how much her strength would increase if she were to stack Bloodlust and Life Ignition.
But she ultimately restrained that impulse.
Putting the halberd back onto the table, she shifted her focus to the other item.
The Godhead. Or rather, the Bloodline Seed.
“Other Great Knights have trouble getting one of them, but it’s as if these things are attracted to me.”
This was the third Bloodline Seed that Liora had obtained so far.
One from the Necronomicon Sect, one from Diana, and the last one just now from the Commander.
While thinking about the reason behind the Commander’s gift, Liora examined the Bloodline Seed from a distance.
Instantly, a few things became clear to her.
“In terms of aura, this Bloodline Seed is stronger than the one obtained from the Necronomicon Sect, but weaker than Diana’s. Does this mean that there is a certain difference in strength between Bloodline Seeds?”
Liora originally believed that the seed of the Necronomicon Sect was weaker because it was artificially created. But now, she understood that she may have been wrong.
“Although it’s possible that this Bloodline Seed is also artificially created.”
The chances of this happening were low, but not zero. Such a probability was more than enough for Liora to take into account.
After dismissing Alpha, standing on the side, Liora decided to conduct an experiment that she had wanted to try for a long time.
Entering the Space Orb, she brought the three Bloodline Seeds in front of her, and, wrapping them up with her demonic energy, brought them closer.
She had an idea: since the three of them were actually drops of blood, could they actually be integrated?
Assuming that all these droplets came from the same being, this should be possible.
While keeping up her guard and maintaining her connection with the arrays she had previously engraved, Liora cautiously brought the three seeds closer.
But to her surprise, something beyond her expectations happened.
The Bloodline Seeds didn’t integrate, nor did they have any intense reaction.
Instead, like opposite-charged magnets, the three Bloodline Seeds refused to come closer.
Beyond a certain point, they bounced off a seemingly invisible wall in the air and shot back.
Liora was not disappointed by the result of this experiment. After checking and confirming that the three seeds were fine, she put them aside and pondered what this meant.
“Does this mean that the blood comes from three different creatures? Otherwise, at least two of these seeds should have merged…”, she wondered, but soon shook her head.
“This is impossible. This is only a low-level world after all. Perhaps there is something that I’ve been missing. Once I get to the bottom of it, I should be able to use it as a means to find a way to become a King of Knights.”, she thought, and a glint flashed across her crimson.
