Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 207: Trump Card

Chapter 207: Trump Card
As Liora appeared beside the Founding Emperor, the shadows beneath his legs grew and wrapped around his calves, locking him in place.
At the same time, a pale domain began spreading with her as its center.
It expanded quickly, engulfing the Emperor’s figure in just a moment.
Seeing this, Liora stretched her hand and brought it upwards.
White arms followed her command and appeared out of nowhere, drilling into the Emperor’s body and coming directly into contact with his immaterial soul.
The hands grabbed the soul tightly and pulled it out of its shell, ready to banish it into Nothingness.
Clearly, since penetrating the Founding Emperor’s defense had failed to work earlier, Liora had decided to use other means—Soul Annihilation.
This was an ability that had proved extremely useful, having helped her deal with a large number of enemies so far.
But for the first time since she awakened this ability, Liora sensed something different.
It was as if the soul of the Founding Emperor was fighting fiercely against the illusory hands, trying to shatter them and break free.
Seeing this, Liora fully concentrated her efforts. She poured her entire demonic energy into it, operating this ability to its fullest.
With the demonic energy acting as a fuel, the white hands grew stronger.
Though struggling, they were finally able to pull out the Emperor’s soul.
Before they could banish it into Nothingness, though, Liora managed to catch a faint glimpse of it.
Instantly, she understood why the previous confrontation had occurred.
The Founding Emperor’s soul was that of an ordinary young man, just as one would expect.
However, countless buzzing insects surrounded his body, seemingly protecting him from danger.
Liora knew that these insects were not foreign creatures nor parasites.
Instead, they were part of the Founding Emperor, part of his own soul.
“No wonder he has completely lost consciousness. His entire being has been corrupted by the Zerg’s influence…”, Liora realized, understanding that the relationship between the Founding Emperor and the trapped Zerg Hive must be deeper than she initially thought.
Time didn’t stop to wait for her to finish her thoughts.
Despite its intense struggle, the soul of the Founding Emperor soon left reality, exiled to Nothingness.
Liora knew that she did not have a lot of time and that it would not take him long to break out.
Thus, she did not linger.
A Spear of the Blighted Sun appeared in both of her hands, and she swung them forward in unison, thrusting them into the Emperor’s body with all her strength.
The black carapace indeed provided him superb defense.
However, with the continuous outpouring of strength by Liora and the lack of the Emperor’s resistance, it soon broke apart.
Both of the spears penetrated the tough carapace, digging deep into the skin and flesh behind it.
The holy power raged inside the Emperor’s body, while the demonic flames pounced forward and began to spread.
With the two powers acting in unison, it seemed that it would not take long for the Emperor to meet his demise.
However, things were far from over.
Before Liora could feel any happiness, a white light descended from the sky and drilled into the Founding Emperor’s body.
Immediately, the haze in his black eyes disappeared. His soul had returned!
Even so, Liora held some faint hope that the injuries he had suffered would be enough to kill him.
Unfortunately, the next scene shattered those naive dreams.
The moment his soul returned, the Founding Emperor’s body dispersed, transforming into a cloud of squirming insects.
The insects turned into a swarm and rushed away, only coming to a stop when they were hundreds of meters away from Liora.
Then, they began to rearrange.
First, they took a humanoid shape before they blended seamlessly.
In the blink of an eye, the Founding Emperor had appeared again.
And with his reappearance, the various injuries on his body had also vanished. He was intact.
“Extraordinary physical strength, certain immunity to soul attacks, and incredible regenerative capabilities…”, Liora judged, understanding the difficulty of dealing with such an opponent.
It was no wonder that the Founding Emperor had been able to suppress this world for centuries, and no one had been able to match him.
He possessed absolutely no weakness, as if he were a machine that had been created purely for battle.
Liora began to hesitate.
Although she seemed to have the upper hand in the battle and had been able to injure him, she had used most of her methods in this otherwise brief confrontation.
Myriad Devils Body, Shadow Manipulation, Spear of the Blighted Sun, and Silent Domain—all of these had been used, but to no avail.
She understood that if she were to use them again now that the opponent was prepared, the ending would only be even worse.
For a moment, Liora began to consider whether she should just give up.
Although she had been unable to get what she sought, the Evolution Points she had accumulated were already an impressive number.
If used well, they could maybe allow her to escape from the True Devil Fire Elemental waiting for her.
“Should I just escape and return to the Demon World?”, Liora couldn’t help but ponder.
But the next moment, she shook her head.
Things had not come to that point just yet.
Turning her head, she saw that the Beast Emperor and Duke Dandelion were working together to deal with the Pope of the Holy Church.
It was only a matter of time before they would slay him. At that point, her “side” would have the advantage.
“Moreover, I still possess a few more trump cards. Even if I’m going to leave, I have to make it worthy.”, Liora made her decision.
Shifting her focus back to her enemy, the movements of the Founding Emperor and the faint buzzing in her ears let her know that he was planning to use another ability.
However, she knew better than to let him do as he wished.
“Since that’s the case, let’s see who will run out of trump cards first…”, Liora muttered, and she took the initiative to display hers.
Bringing her index finger to her mouth, she bit lightly on it, causing the skin to break and a few drops of blood to flow out.
Suppressing her healing capabilities, she allowed the blood to drip freely and began waving her hand through the air, as if she were holding an imaginary paintbrush.
