Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 212: Outburst

Chapter 212: Outburst
The Zerg Hive had not expected that Liora could evade the soul attack and had therefore not prepared any self-defense.
Thankfully for her, a being of her level reacted and acted quickly.
Her head moved to the side, barely dodging the dagger and only allowing it to cut a few strands of her flowing hair.
At the same time, she waved her right hand upwards, placing the outside part of her palm across the dagger’s surface and pushing it out of the way.
Holding the dagger, Liora felt its sharp edge cut through her opponent’s smooth skin and scrape against the bones hidden beneath it.
Blood splattered, evidence of the fact that the Zerg Hive had been injured.
However, Liora felt no sense of accomplishment.
The attack had ultimately failed, giving the Zerg Hive enough time to step back and open some distance between them.
The Zerg Hive lowered her head and looked at the fresh blood dripping across her bare bones.
Her calm expression disappeared. Her face turned into a twisted grimace.
“How dare you?! How dare you hurt me?”, she muttered, her voice low yet spreading throughout the capital.
Instantly, Liora felt her ears buzz.
Shockingly, the Zerg Hive’s loss of composure had not reduced her strength. Instead, it had made her soul attacks even more powerful, as if fueled by her emotions.
For a moment, Liora felt herself sink into the illusion.
Countless overlapping images flashed before her eyes, tempting her to lose herself and fall into the dream forever.
Fortunately, the Myriad Devils Body activated again.
Demonic energy rushed into its crimson veins, and they pulsated violently, waking her up.
Once again, her initial decision to create an ability that defended both against physical and soul attacks had proved correct.
After regaining her consciousness, Liora did not respond to the Zerg Hive’s words. Her face remained indifferent, and while she was still in the middle of her rage, she attacked once again.
Seeing her rush towards her, the Zerg Hive quickly regained her originally calm expression.
The difference being that this time, a flash of cold, ruthless indifference was hidden within her eyes.
The next second, the two women clashed again.
Liora controlled the shadows, turning them into weapons that shot in the Zerg Hive’s direction, while the Zerg Hive used soul attacks and the power of her soul to both defend and attack.
In less than half a minute, the two had clashed thousands of times.
The earth beneath them had turned over, and magma, scorching flames, and rubble shot out in all directions.
At the same time, the armies of summons of the two women continued their war in the distance.
Zerg Servants were constantly born out of inanimate things and battled against the seemingly undead beasts transformed by Devil Runes.
Overall, though their confrontation did not last long, its outcome could roughly be judged.
Liora and the Zerg Hive were actually equally matched.
Liora was unable to injure the Zerg Hive when faced with the power of her soul, while the Zerg Hive was unable to penetrate through the Myriad Devils Body and strike directly at her soul.
In the end, their fight became a contest of who would run out of energy first.
After all, both the creation of Zerg Servants and the healing of the beasts consumed energy, and the same was true for their fight.
Liora utilized demonic energy, while the Zerg Hive consumed her own soul power.
At this point, it had become obvious that the victor would not be decided based on who would kill the other, but by who would be able to persevere.
Being one of the parties, Liora understood this very well, and similarly, the Zerg Hive knew it as well.
Both parties considered their respective options.
In fact, the smartest decision would be for the two women to take a step back and seek peace with each other.
The two were not enemies.
As long as they both retreated, the two could coexist in peace.
Both of them knew very well what the other party wanted.
Liora wanted to obtain the souls of other creatures, while the Zerg Hive wanted to devour the energy and World Origin of this world.
Their respective goals did not really clash.
“Unfortunately, this is no longer possible.”, Liora thought as she dodged the mist coming in her direction and thrust the recently created spear at her opponent.
She knew that neither of them would ever choose to step back.
Not only because it was almost impossible to truly trust each other unless they signed a stringent Devil Contract, but also because they were simply not willing.
Liora recalled the yearning she had felt when she approached the World Origin and was unwilling to give up.
On the other hand, the Zerg Hive had sensed Liora’s potential and knew that she could gain countless benefits if she were to devour her.
At the end of the day, the two were gambling with their own lives. Or, at the very least, this was what seemed to be happening.
Until suddenly, the expression of the Zerg Hive abruptly changed.
Liora noticed a look of determination flash in her eyes before she opened her mouth and yelled:
“Come!”
In response to the Zerg Hive’s yell, the sound of countless insects buzzing and flapping their wings echoed throughout the continent.
If anyone were to take a look from the sky, they would discover that these noises stemmed mostly from the places where the Great Knights and Kings of Knights were currently at.
The next moment, the reason behind this became obvious.
In unison, the bodies of all the Great Knights and above exploded in unison, turning into bloody mist that flowed towards the capital of the Iron Armor Empire.
As it blended together, the bloody mist turned into a sea and gathered above the Zerg Hive.
Standing opposite of her, Liora noticed a fierce look flashing across her beautiful face.
The next moment, the Zerg Hive raised her right hand and brought her palm towards the sky.
The bloody mist fell down and formed a whirlpool above her hand as it began drilling into her body.
The Zerg Hive’s aura began to increase at an astonishing rate.
Her already extremely long hair grew even longer, dropping to her feet and wrapping around them as if they were overgrown vines.
At the same time, her appearance became even more beautiful, even more breathtaking.
With a click, the Zerg Hive’s strength seemed to have broken through a certain limit.
As the last bit of mist entered her body, her power reached a completely new level.
“Hehehe! It seems that the Will of the World is truly asleep.”, the Zerg Hive’s excited voice reached Liora’s ears.
