Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 217: "I’m dying"

Chapter 217: “I’m dying”
In fact, this sea of blood was not all her own blood.
Just like people believed, this sea had indeed been devouring the earth and using it as energy to continue its expansion.
In fact, Liora had also taken action in her half-asleep, half-groggy state to grab a few corpses of powerful beasts and body parts of the Zerg Hive, before tossing them into the sea and helping it expand.
And all of this had been done exactly for this moment.
Feeling her state and sensing that her strength was quite weak, Liora couldn’t help but shake her head.
It had been a long time since she felt such weakness.
For a moment, she even had the illusion that she had returned to the banks of the River of Oblivion or at the moment she descended to this world.
“Fortunately, I was prepared.”, she muttered and rose to her feet.
The sea of blood parted and made way for her.
Then, it suddenly rioted.
The impact was not contained in her location.
Instead, it spread throughout the Blood Sea, meaning that more than forty percent of the continent was affected.
Waves of blood surged and struck the land around them before they turned back and flowed in the opposite direction, defying all common sense.
Standing at the center of the sea, Liora remained motionless with her eyes closed, as the boundless blood followed her commands and seeped into her body.
Part of it transformed into pure demonic energy, while another part poured into her body and enhanced her physical strength.
At a speed visible to the naked eye, her aura began to grow stronger.
Little Devil, Young Devil, ranked Young Devil…
In the blink of an eye, she had become a Lesser Devil again.
But the sea of blood had only decreased by less than half. It continued flowing towards her.
As a result, her aura showed no signs of stopping its meteoric rise.
After all, the sea had by now devoured a great part of the continent, a large number of beasts, as well as many parts of the Zerg Hive.
The energy contained within it was boundless.
Before long, Liora’s aura reached the peak of the Lesser Devil stage.
This was a stage that she had never reached before.
Even when she risked her life against the Zerg Hive, she was far weaker than now.
Moreover, Liora noticed that the energy had not been completely consumed just yet.
As long as she wanted, she could use the last bit of energy to advance further.
Liora only needed a thought, and she would be able to break through the invisible film blocking her and become a True Devil!
For a moment, Liora was about to do so. But just when her aura was about to shatter the film, she abruptly stopped her transformation.
Not because she didn’t want to become a True Devil, but because she couldn’t. At the very least, not at the moment.
“Although there have been several powerful beings in this world, this world is still a low-level world after all. It can not support the existence of True Devil beings.”, Liora whispered as she looked at the trembling space around her.
With each of her breaths, the space itself shattered, forming deep cracks that revolved around her as if she had turned into a black hole.
Liora knew that if this was the case now, then the situation would become even worse if she were to advance.
“Perhaps, the world itself will shatter the moment I become a True Devil. After all, it will be difficult to control my aura during my advancement.”, Liora judged as she waved her hand and smoothed out the space cracks.
Then, she cast a glance at her surroundings.
With the sea of blood drying out, the land it had been hiding was revealed.
Nothing existed in it. No animals, insects, or any living creatures at all.
Even the earth itself had turned black, having been sucked out of its nutrients by the blood and become her nourishment.
With just a thought and a mere movement, Liora had destroyed almost half of the continent.
This was why races like Devils and Zerg were feared throughout the Heavens. A mere thought of theirs could destroy the ecosystem of countless worlds.
Liora’s eyes remained indifferent as she watched this scene.
She didn’t display much emotion, not feeling any pity for this world.
Raising her head, she stared at the horizon, and her eyes narrowed.
“There are still a couple of things that I have to take care of. There are still some enemies remaining, as well as some unanswered questions…”, Liora muttered.
The moment her words fell, her figure transformed into a blurry afterimage before completely dissipating.
—
Only a few moments later, Liora had appeared in the Ancient Beast Wilderness.
Unlike the land of humans that had transformed from the ground up, not much had changed in this place.
The beasts still lived mindlessly, killing each other, devouring each other, and gradually growing stronger.
In fact, the Day of Divine Punishment had been a blessing for the beasts.
With humans no longer being able to become Great Knights, they could no longer be their opponents.
No human dared to enter the wilderness and hunt them down.
If anything, the beasts were the ones who could and should have invaded the human land.
However, they didn’t.
Not because they didn’t want to, but because of a certain person’s command.
“Not much has changed, indeed.”, Liora stared at this scene and chuckled as she made her way towards the center of the forest.
Once she got there, her gaze shifted to a tall, unassuming mountain that blended perfectly with the surroundings. In the past, Liora had been unable to distinguish the mountain’s strangeness.
But now, with her strength having increased and knowing that there was something there already, she immediately noticed the difference.
“Sure enough. You’re hiding here…”, she whispered, sensing a familiar aura deep within the mountain.
When her words fell, she stretched her hand out and struck at the mountain. Immediately, the whole mountain shook violently.
Yet, it didn’t break.
Instead, the space in front of it parted, and a human-sized entrance was revealed.
Seeing this, Liora didn’t hesitate. With a step forward, she entered the gap.
Soon, she found herself in a familiar dark corridor.
As she walked through it, Liora couldn’t help but take a look at the murals on the walls.
However, she didn’t pause her steps to admire them.
Following her memories, she walked through the corridor and soon arrived at a hall.
A feeling of longing came from deep within her bloodline as she approached it, which only grew stronger as she stepped inside and cast a glance at the cluster of lights.
“World Origin…”, she whispered, but she didn’t rush forward to try to devour it.
Instead, her gaze shifted to the other person in the room.
Lying down at the corner on the opposite side, the illusory being stared back at her with a calm expression.
Seeing this being, Liora opened her mouth and spoke:
“It seems that your situation is far worse than I thought. You’re about to die. Even if I didn’t come, you would not survive for long….”, she stated calmly as she took a few steps forward and approached her opponent.
In response, the Beast Emperor did not show any emotion, much less anger or fear.
It calmly nodded its head and answered back:
“Yes, I’m dying…”
