Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 229: Origin Sea

Chapter 229: Origin Sea
Liora once again arrived at the Origin Sea. Although some time had passed since her departure, this place had remained the same.
Utter silence shrouded this place, while overlapping shadows plunged it into darkness.
Only the flickering lights shone in the distance, seemingly wishing to bathe this place in their brilliance.
Unfortunately, their struggle was useless. They were like fireflies wanting to light up the world.
Although Liora had been in this place before, she didn’t have the time to observe it, much less admire it.
But now that she had taken care of everything and her strength had increased, she finally had the time to survey it.
Immediately, her eyes landed on the many bright lights. She understood that each of them represented a different world.
Some of them were far away and barely noticeable, while others were closer and far more apparent.
In particular, a very weak light that seemed about to be extinguished was practically next to her.
It was the world of the Knights. Though it would now be more accurate to use another term to accurately describe it.
“A Devil naturally gains the ability to wander in the Origin Sea for a short period of time once they become a True Devil.”
“Through this place, they can find and descend into other worlds. In a way, it is a gamble.”
“Every Devil is gambling that they will find a suitable world to improve their strength.”
The method that Liora had used in the past, the World-Descending Array, was another way.
However, in her eyes, this array was of a higher level than simply wandering through the Origin Sea.
After all, the Origin Sea was not a safe place. It was filled with danger and threats.
If one were not cautious, it wouldn’t take long for them to meet their demise.
This danger stemmed from both the place itself, with its dangerous natural phenomena, as well as from other creatures, native or not.
As this information emerged in Liora’s mind, she couldn’t help but raise her guard and become a little more cautious.
Although her strength had improved and her confidence had surged, she understood that this was not a place where she could act recklessly.
“The stronger one becomes, the more cautious they have to be.”
“Struggling so hard to become a True Devil yet dying after stepping into the Origin Sea would be extremely embarrassing.”, she thought, half-jokingly and half-seriously.
Liora did not remain still while deep in thought.
Although she had just become a True Devil, the ability to wander in this space was instinctive.
Therefore, it didn’t take long for her to understand the method. With a step forward, she disappeared and reappeared far away.
Then she did it again, and again.
If any person familiar with the Origin Sea were here, they would be stunned.
After all, this was not a speed that a mere True Devil should possess.
But the stronger beings among them, those surpassing the Greater Devil stage, would realize that Liora was not merely walking.
Instead, she was travelling through space.
Null Step—this was an ability that she had awakened during her advancement, granting her the power to teleport for a short distance.
Although the term “short” was used to describe it, this was in terms of beings of her level.
For mortals, Young Devils, or even Lesser Devils, the distance she could cover was already impressive.
As Liora used Null Step again and again, the weak light behind her back slowly shrank.
The world of Knights was soon left behind her, becoming just another one of the many flickering lights within this dark space.
For a moment, she felt emotional.
The world of Knights, which had once seemed endless to her and had taken her a lot of effort to conquer, was now just a speck of dust.
“Only by increasing their strength can people better understand their own insignificance.”, Liora couldn’t help but whisper.
However, this realization didn’t make her disappointed or sad.
Rather, it strengthened her resolve to become stronger.
She wanted to see the scenery not as another tiny speck within the Origin Sea, but as a being standing at the apex of Heavens.
While Liora was daydreaming, time didn’t slow down to wait for her.
It flowed naturally until her expression suddenly changed.
She didn’t display much shock, having already expected that this would happen, merely becoming more serious.
With a move of her mind, her movements came to a stop, and she began waiting for something.
Fortunately, she didn’t have to keep waiting for long. Only a couple of minutes later, a faint aura emerged on the horizon.
It grew increasingly closer at a speed visible to the naked eye, until finally, its owner appeared.
Just like Liora, this person also floated silently within the endless dark space, clearly possessing the ability to navigate through the Origin Sea.
They were a middle-aged man.
A kind expression was etched on his face while his appearance was neat and proper, looking more like a Priest than a powerful being.
However, it was obvious from his powerful aura that he was not someone to be trifled with.
His aura matched that of Liora, meaning that he was also a being who had reached the True Devil stage.
But the similarities between them did not stop there.
Although his aura was concealed and he tried his best to hide it, Liora immediately noticed a familiar aura emanating from this man.
It was the aura of demonic energy.
Instantly, she understood this person’s identity.
He was a being originating from the same world as her, a True Devil who had walked out of the Demon World.
“Most importantly, this is not a random True Devil. It’s an acquaintance.”, Liora couldn’t help but whisper, confirming some of her earlier guesses.
Surprisingly, this man was the True Devil who had invaded the world of Knights in the past, the person who had interfered with the Will of the World and destroyed most of its plans.
According to Eleanor and the Beast Emperor, the Will of the World had managed to fend him off, forcing him to escape and leave the world.
Thus, he posed no threat.
But judging from the current situation, this was not the complete truth.
Although the True Devil had indeed been unable to invade the world of Knights, he had not given up just yet.
Clearly, he had been waiting in the area around the world of Knights, waiting for a suitable opportunity to appear. And with Liora’s emergence, this opportunity had come.
