Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 230: True Heart Devil

Chapter 230: True Heart Devil
Although countless thoughts raced through Liora’s mind, not much time had passed in the real world.
The True Devil, standing opposite to her, briefly sized her up before he opened his mouth and spoke:
“I didn’t expect that I would meet my kin in such a distant place.”, he prefaced his speech before he continued:
“If I’m not wrong, you should have just left this world.”, he stated, and pointed at the world of Knights not far away.
Although his tone seemed to be inquiring, his voice was firm and full of certainty.
Hearing him, Liora’s thoughts receded.
She didn’t choose to lie when faced with his question, but instead nodded her head in agreement:
“Indeed.”
Her honest answer surprised the True Devil. He paused for a brief second before a smile crept up on his face.
“Haha. It’s been a while since I last met a truly honest Devil.”, he chuckled.
He was praising her, all in order to open up a conversation.
However, when he noticed that Liora did not reciprocate his feelings and remained expressionless, he went straight to the topic.
“You may have heard of me before. I’m the True Heart Devil.”, he introduced himself.
“Judging from the weakness of this world and the fact that you’ve already left, I’m afraid that the world has already fallen into your hands.”, he stated.
To this, Liora nodded.
This was already obvious and would be stupid to deny.
“That’s true. Is there any issue?”, she asked, her cold eyes remaining on the True Heart Devil’s figure.
Seeing this and sensing the imperceptible murderous intent in her gaze, the True Heart Devil did not lose his composure.
With a faint smile on his face, he nodded his head.
“Since you’ve already succeeded in invading that world, it is fine. Although I’ve been waiting for a chance to go in, it ultimately doesn’t matter.”
“First come, first served, as those ants like to say.”
Saying this, the True Heart Devil paused for a brief moment, as if hesitating.
Then, he mustered up his courage to state his request.
“However, I’ve been seeking a treasure existing in this world for quite some time. I’m wondering if you are willing to part with it. I’m willing to exchange it with items of equal value.”, the True Heart Devil said.
Hearing this request and seeing the strange attitude of this person, Liora was filled with doubts.
In fact, his proposal did not have any obvious loopholes.
If the True Heart Devil had found something that interested him in the world of Knights, it made sense for him to come and negotiate with her.
After all, although Devils were inherently bloodthirsty and warlike, a person who had become a True Devil had long suppressed such instincts.
By now, most True Devils only cared for benefits, doing everything they could to further improve their own strength. This included negotiating and even allying with other Devils.
However, although everything looked fine on the surface, Liora sensed something amiss.
Even though she couldn’t pinpoint exactly what that was, her intuition told her that there was indeed something wrong with the current situation.
Although Liora remained expressionless and consciously worked to hide her inner thoughts, the True Heart Devil noticed them.
Sensing the hesitation in her heart and feeling that it would be impossible to make a deal at this moment, he shook his head with some reluctance.
“Since you’re not willing, I will not force you. After all, it is rare to meet one of my kin in this damned place.”
“Since you are unwilling to part with that treasure, we can both go our separate ways as if nothing happened—”
Just when the True Heart Devil was halfway through his words, though, he suddenly took action.
He didn’t hold back, seemingly using his trump card from the start.
Immediately, his thin body began to expand.
From the appearance of an ordinary human, he soon grew to more than five meters tall and continued growing even larger.
It was only when he turned more than ten meters in height that his transformation stopped.
However, his height was not the only thing that had changed.
During his “growing process”, his appearance had also been altered.
His thin body had grown wider, and his skin had turned red, while two extra hands had grown on both sides of his ribs, for a total of four extra hands.
His kind face twisted, turning into a terrifying mask with four long fangs that dripped with blood. He now truly resembled a Devil.
At the same time as his appearance changed, a large number of black flames materialized in his surroundings.
The black flames revolved around his body as if they possessed a will of their own, sometimes transforming into visages that closely resembled his and sometimes twisting eerily like smoke or mist.
Coupled with his oppressive appearance, the True Heart Devil now truly displayed the demeanor and might that a True Devil should possess.
He no longer looked like a mere human, but like a being standing at the very apex of the Heavens.
Upon his transformation’s completion, the True Heart Devil did not speak or wait any further.
Without any hesitation, he launched an attack.
The black flames surrounding him tumbled before shooting outwards, firing at Liora with their full strength.
It was not just one or two fireballs or a barrage of arrows.
In the otherwise empty dark space, a sea of scorching black flames materialized and rose like a tsunami before assaulting Liora.
This terrifying scene instantly fell into Liora’s eyes.
However, she didn’t show any fear.
Rather, a trace of excitement flashed in her eyes. This was the first actual True Devil opponent she had ever faced.
Although the Zerg Hive used to be a True Devil and the Will of the World was equal in status to one, Liora had not truly confronted them at their full power.
In a sense, the True Heart Devil was the first True Devil she had ever come across.
Thus, it was natural for her fighting intent to rise.
Not only because she could fight against this being and more accurately estimate her current combat power, but also because he was a great target to test her new abilities on.
