Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 250: Threats

Chapter 250: Threats
Standing in front of the Gale Devil, Liora’s expression remained indifferent, making it impossible to decipher her feelings.
She didn’t speak or ask any questions to her hostage.
Instead, she calmly stretched her hand towards the opponent’s head, while her demonic energy surged.
For a second, it seemed that she was about to crush the Gale Devil’s head, killing him in a single clean strike.
The Gale Devil had just recovered, and the sharp pain that the arrays had inflicted on him was still affecting him, clouding his judgment.
Thus, he did not stop to think why Liora would suddenly decide to kill him.
After all, if she truly wanted him dead, she should have done this a long time ago and would not have waited until now.
As a member of a powerful family, the Gale Devil knew that True Devils possessed the ability to devour other people’s souls and plunder some of their memories.
Therefore, he instinctively believed that Liora was planning to do so.
Seeing this, he rushed to speak up, afraid that any hesitation would lead to his own death:
“Do—don’t kill me.”, he mustered up his courage and said, his voice low yet penetrating at the same time.
When the Gale Devil noticed that Liora’s hand had paused in the air and the danger he had been sensing had partly retreated, his tense mind subconsciously relaxed.
However, he didn’t stop there.
“Aren’t you planning to kill me to find information regarding those items? I can tell you! I can tell you everything!”, he spoke hastily, glancing at the Four Elements Token in Liora’s hands from the corner of his eyes.
His words seemed to have convinced his opponent.
Some hesitation flashed across Liora’s face, and her movements paused for a brief moment before she finally took her outstretched hand back.
Immediately, the Gale Devil breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that he had won some extra time for himself.
His reaction fell in Liora’s eyes, and she could guess what he was thinking.
She couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly.
Sure enough, this guy was as stupid as he seemed.
He seemed completely oblivious to the fact that Liora had been acting from the very start.
After all, the information obtained through the devouring of souls was not very comprehensive.
Most of the memories would be destroyed during the swallowing process, leaving only small pieces of them behind.
Those bits could be relevant to what the True Devil was seeking, but it was as likely that they would be utterly useless.
Since this matter was related to the Four Elements Token, Liora didn’t want to gamble unless necessary.
While she was sneering inwardly, Liora showed none of this on the surface. Her expression remained unreadable.
She allowed the Gale Devil to catch his breath before she pointed to the Four Elements Token and questioned him:
“What is this thing? Where did you get it? Was it from the same place as the other items in your space treasure?”
A barrage of questions came out of her mouth, giving the Gale Devil little time to react.
Even, when he took a deep breath and was about to think, a murderous intention rushed in his direction, as if Liora was becoming impatient with his slow answer.
Realizing this, the Gale Devil stopped thinking over his choice of words and answered with the first thing that came to mind:
“This is the Inheritance Token!”
“I obtained it after entering the Trial Palace passed down by my family and successfully completing all of its tests.”
The Gale Devil did not stop there but continued his explanation.
Following his speech, Liora gained a lot of information, both regarding the token in her hand, the Gale Devil, and even this Layer.
According to him, this Gale Devil was a member of a powerful Devil family in the Wind City, another true city located in the 173rd Layer of the Demon World.
Unlike the Bloodflower City, though, the Wind City was far away from the Inferno Valley, in the northern end of the plane.
The Gale Devil did not know how he arrived at this place.
All he knew was that he entered the Trial Palace together with the other talented members of his family.
After experiencing a lot, he managed to complete one test after another and obtain the palace’s core inheritance, becoming the first person in his family’s history to do so.
Before he could be happy, however, he was prompted to step into a teleportation array, only to end up in the Inferno Valley.
Or to be more accurate, in the sky above the Inferno Valley.
The rest was history.
Not long after his descent, he was surrounded by the Fire Elementals and subsequently captured by Liora.
Then, he ended up here.
“I know what you’re thinking. You must be considering whether to kill me…”
“But you should know that my family has several True Devils in its ranks.”
“Moreover, the family’s Elders have placed certain means to check on my life. If you kill me, they will immediately learn of it and hunt you down to the ends of the Demon World.”, the Gale Devil said, before softening his tone and adding:
“On the other hand, I will be far more useful alive. I can help you collect information regarding the inheritance, while giving you some secrets of the Wind City.”
Liora listened to the Gale Devil’s words, her face expressionless and her emotions unreadable.
But despite this phenomenon, the Gale Devil felt that his survival was all but certain.
Not only had he mentioned his family and the danger that his death would bring, but he had also displayed his value.
In his opinion, it was impossible for anyone to refuse such a tempting offer.
Still, his expression became soft and innocent, as if he were begging for Liora’s mercy.
But in his eyes, a well-disguised trace of ruthlessness passed by.
He vowed that once he found a way to escape, he would surely summon his entire family, kill this woman, and wipe out everyone related to her.
As these thoughts arose, the burning anger in Gale Devil’s heart receded. In his mind, Liora was already considered a dead person.
However, the Gale Devil could not feel happy for long.
The moment after he relaxed, Liora’s mind moved.
Instantly, boundless Nothingness descended and engulfed the Gale Devil, driving the very concept of his existence to extinction.
With her strength, it didn’t take a long time. Just a moment later, the Gale Devil was dead.
But surprisingly, this was not the end of the matter.
The moment his physical body was destroyed, and his soul was exposed to the outside world, a green light emerged from the depths of his soul.
The light became stronger and wrapped around the soul before it shot through the air, ready to escape.
