Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 255: End of Practice

Chapter 255: End of Practice
Unlike what the technique’s name might have suggested, completing its first level did not grant Liora any ability related to the world. Not even an ability related to World Origin.
Instead, the ability given was related to the second aspect of the World Devourer bloodline—devouring, also known as swallowing, or more plainly, eating.
Devour. This was the name of this ability.
Its function was quite simple and very straightforward.
It allowed Liora to more easily digest resources, converting them into demonic energy, using them to enhance her physical strength, or utilizing them for any other purpose.
“In fact, the main function of Devour is to help young World Devourers more efficiently devour the soul of other beings, as well as World Origin.”, Liora thought before she shook her head.
“Unfortunately, the former is not very useful to me. No matter how efficient my devouring capabilities, they will never be comparable to the System. As for World Origin…”
Liora realized and clicked her tongue.
“Devour would indeed be helpful when digesting World Origin. But at the moment, I possess none of it.”
Considering that these two primary uses of it were a little useless, the new Devour ability seemed completely tasteless.
However, Liora knew better than to underestimate it.
She understood that an ability given by her inherited technique would never be weak.
In her opinion, Devour was bound to give her unexpected surprises.
Thinking of this, Liora decided to put it to the test.
Since she didn’t possess any World Origin, she didn’t take it out.
Instead, she took out one shiny orb after another, creating a large pile of them in front of her by the time her actions stopped.
These were, of course, the cores of the Fire Elementals.
“My initial decision to keep these things until I’ve taken stock of the harvest has been proven correct.”
“Now is the time for these cores to truly show their value.”, Liora whispered.
The moment her words fell, boundless demonic energy emerged from her body and wrapped around the many Fire Elemental cores.
As if it had turned into an invisible hand, the demonic energy grabbed the cores and brought them closer, melting them in the process and letting their remains drip down on Liora.
Her body began to absorb the blazing liquid like a sponge.
Instinctively, her pores opened as Devour was activated on its own and began transforming the cores into pure energy.
Part of it flowed towards her demonic energy, ready to enhance its quality and quantity, while another part flowed towards her physical body.
Or at least, that was what it wanted to do.
However, Liora had other plans.
Before the pure energy could seep into her, the information regarding the Four Elements Method she had read earlier emerged in her mind.
Since she already possessed the cores and was planning to devour them either way, there was no reason not to practice this technique.
As soon as this thought arose, she began operating the Four Elements Method.
Unlike the World Devourer Method, this technique was not only far less painful during the practice but also many times easier to grasp.
Under its operation, the pure energy began strengthening Liora, while providing her with small insights regarding the fire element.
Only a few seconds later, the pure energy fully disappeared.
The Fire Elemental cores had vanished with it, becoming nourishment for Liora and the Four Elements Method.
The ease with which this was achieved was unexpected.
“Part of this is because of Devour. Its effects are indeed quite strong.”
“But another part is the Four Elements Method.”, Liora realized.
“I can feel that practicing this technique is far faster than the World Devourer Method. If I had enough items related to the four elements, there would be no issue practicing it to its peak within a few days.”, she judged.
But despite this, she wasn’t planning to really focus on this technique.
“It doesn’t matter how easy it is to practice.”
“Compared to the improvement brought by the World Devourer Method, this technique is simply trash.”, she spat as she raised her hand.
Instantly, a wave of flames formed around her fingers and began dancing above her palm, turning into all kinds of shapes as if they were an extension of her body.
A relatively weakened version of Fire Elemental Affinity—this was the ability granted by the Four Elements Method, and it would require a lot of resources to obtain its full version.
“Even if I do, I doubt that it will be as useful as completing the first level of the World Devourer Method.”
“Sure enough, the inherited technique of World Devourers is completely different from ordinary techniques.”, Liora sighed, realizing that her initial decision had been correct.
After she exhaled softly and let her breath extinguish the surrounding flames, she didn’t resume her practice but instead sat up.
Though Liora could sense that not much time had passed since she arrived at the inn, she understood that her main goal of arriving at the city was not to practice in seclusion.
In addition, the earlier visit of Kazrien had let her know that Bloodflower City was not as calm as it seemed.
With her identity as a True Devil, Liora was bound to get involved in this mess unless she chose to leave the city.
But having reached her current level, how could she be willing to do so?
After all, wasn’t the reason she came to Bloodflower City to fight for herself and find a way to obtain more resources?
The turbulent Bloodflower City not only did not go against her interests, but it was exactly what she wanted.
Only in such a place, a land filled with chaos and unruliness, would she be able to carve out a place for herself without facing major resistance from other competitors.
Thinking of this, Liora’s mind connected with the surrounding arrays, and she deactivated them.
Then, she took a step forward and left this place. The end of her practice signified something deeper.
Though no one knew it yet, it also signaled the beginning of the chaos in Bloodflower City.
