Chapter 261: Owner of Demon Colosseum
On the other hand, the person who had just neutralized the attack empowered by several Lesser Devils, Liora did not care about what the audience members were thinking.
Her gaze first fell on the Graveplate Devils who had launched the earlier attack before shifting towards Alpha, who was standing below.
Seeing that the metal spear was about to penetrate her abdomen, Liora casually waved her hand and sent it flying.
Due to this, the scene of mutual destruction did not happen.
The only remaining spear in the arena penetrated the Metal Demon’s head, blasting it into pieces and harvesting his life.
With his death, the fight in the arena was over.
However, no one had the time, nor the will to care about its outcome.
Neither the audience members nor the seriously injured announcer paid any attention to the Metal Demon’s death.
Perhaps the only person, or rather thing, that noticed the battle’s end was actually the arena itself.
The essence extraction array engraved on the arena began to operate on its own, turning the dead Graveplate Devil into pure essence and controlling it to fly towards Alpha.
As the black droplet touched her, the transformation that Alpha was undergoing became even more intense.
The sound of gears turning grew even louder, while her body became stiff and froze in place, as if she had completely turned into a puppet.
Liora was not surprised by this scene.
She had noticed that Alpha’s potential had been unleashed during the earlier life and death situation, pushing her beyond a certain limit and allowing her to break through the shackles binding her.
Now, she was transforming and, in the process, becoming more powerful, similarly to how a Devil would transform during their advancement.
“It’s an unexpected joy. I originally thought that this was merely a chance for her to get some experience and improve her combat power.”
“But now, it seems that her luck is quite good.”, Liora thought inwardly.
In fact, she had never expected that Alpha would emerge victorious in the arena.
As a Young Devil, it sounded almost impossible for her to win against a Lesser Devil.
And the fight had indeed gone as she expected.
Although Alpha had managed to contain the Metal Demon for a short period of time, she ultimately found herself at a disadvantage and was bound to lose.
The only reason she won in the end was not that she was stronger, but because she had misled her opponent into thinking that she was a Wood Elemental and used that gap in information to launch a sneak attack.
If this were not the case or if she had not been ruthless enough, Alpha would have lost in the end.
Of course, Alpha would not have been in danger of losing her life.
Liora would have intervened at the last moment, ensuring her safety.
After all, wasn’t the entire reason she visited the colosseum to cause some trouble and alert certain people?
“Although things did not go according to the plan, the outcome remains roughly the same.”, Liora thought inwardly, as she turned her attention to the Graveplate Devils in the stands.
During this time, their eyes had regained their luster, as they had managed to get rid of the Tongue of the Abyss’s influence.
Noticing her gaze and recalling what had occurred earlier, these Devils felt a chill run down their spine.
They opened their mouths and wanted to speak, wanting to let her know that they had been under the control of an unknown person.
They were not the ones responsible! They had been set up!
“My Lord! It’s not our fault! Someone interfer—”
Before their leader could finish his words, Liora had already taken action.
She had worked so “hard” and had waited so long for this opportunity to arise.
How could she be willing to let them ruin everything?
Without giving them a chance to continue, she raised her hand as her mind moved.
Fire elements gathered under her newly obtained weakened version of Elemental Affinity and transformed into a giant hand, which struck towards the stands.
Under the audience’s shocked eyes, a giant palm fell on the group of Graveplate Devils and pressed them to the ground.
These Devils were unable to put up any form of resistance.
Within a second, their bodies evaporated.
However, Liora did not let the flames devour them completely.
After killing them, she retracted her attack, and her mind moved again.
A few black drops flew from the stands and arrived before her, containing the entire essence of the Devils she had just slaughtered.
Liora looked at them for a brief moment.
For her current self, the benefit brought by devouring the souls and blood of Lesser Devils was minuscule, almost unnoticeable.
Thus, she didn’t even try to go through the process of devouring it.
After looking at it briefly, she waved her hand and let the droplets fall on Alpha.
As they turned pure energy and entered her body, her transformation reached its peak.
It seemed as if the very next moment, her transformation would be completed and she would finally advance.
Unfortunately, Liora did not have any more time to pay attention to her.
Although a lot had happened, not much time had passed in reality.
Yet, the aura Liora had sensed earlier was now growing stronger, making it obvious that its owner had caught wind of what was happening here.
The next moment, Liora sensed that the aura’s location changed.
One second, it was deep underground, and the next moment, it had emerged, appearing on the surface.
Before any of the audience members could react, another figure, besides Liora, was floating above the colosseum and was facing her.
Although their appearance was hard to capture from below and their strength rendered it impossible to look at them, all the people in the arena immediately realized this person’s identity.
“The owner of the Demon Colosseum! One of the six True Devils!”, one of them exclaimed.
