Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 264: Realization

Chapter 264: Realization
The moment her hand clashed with that of the Violence Lord, Liora’s expression immediately changed.
When she felt the force flowing out of her opponent’s fist and pouring into her body, she couldn’t help but be shocked.
Not because of his attack’s power, though.
If anything, it was the exact opposite.
Liora sensed an inexplicable weakness emanating from the opponent, as if their respective strengths were not equal at all.
And what happened next served to confirm her thoughts.
Unlike what their size would suggest, the second after the two collided, the Violence Lord’s face turned pale, and he was sent flying through the air.
On the other hand, Liora remained motionless.
Although the land around her suffered due to the collision’s aftermath, she was not harmed at all during the confrontation.
However, this didn’t make her excited at all. Instead, her expression turned even more stern.
She couldn’t understand what was going on with this guy and why he was hiding his strength.
In her opinion, it was very likely that this was part of a greater conspiracy.
While wondering how the Violence Lord believed that she would fall for such a measly trick, Liora took action again.
No longer underestimating her opponent, she stopped attacking using her physical strength.
Her weakened version of Elemental Affinity was activated, and both her blood and demonic energy began to boil, as if she were turning into the sun.
Instantly, a sea of flames emerged in front of Liora and gathered together.
With a thought of hers, the flames rushed forward, aiming at the flying Violence Lord and wishing to engulf him completely.
Although they looked like ordinary flames, their composition was different from normal fire.
Empowered by Elemental Affinity and Liora’s own powerful strength, this otherwise unassuming attack was overwhelming.
In a split second, the sea of flames had crashed onto the Violence Lord, giving him no time to recover from the earlier attack.
As if she felt that this was enough, though, Liora launched another barrage of attacks.
Countless weapons made of fire appeared in front of her and floated in the air. Following a wave of her hand, they shot towards her opponent.
Continuous banging sounds soon echoed.
Several deep craters were formed on the ground as the Violence Lord was pushed back and forced to land.
Although Bloodflower City was quite far away, it was still affected by the aftermath.
The ears of the weakest Devils burst, and blood flowed out of them, while the land beneath their feet trembled, making their steps unstable.
Liora did not care about Bloodflower City, nor about the predicament its residents were currently facing.
Still floating in the sky, she lowered her head and stared at the ground, looking at the place where the Violence Lord had landed.
Though the dust had yet to settle, she was able to accurately see her opponent’s state.
Instantly, a rare trace of confusion flashed in her crimson eyes.
The current condition of the Violence Lord was embarrassing.
His skin, regardless of how powerful it previously seemed, had now turned black, making him look like an ordinary person who had walked into an oven.
At the same time, several deep cuts and large wounds riddled his body, as a brown, almost solid, liquid flowed out and dripped to the ground.
Liora did not have to take a guess.
She could be certain that the burn marks were the result of the sea of flames, while the deeper wounds stemmed from the fact that the Violence Lord faced the flaming weapons head-on.
Despite this, Liora was quite confused.
She could see that the injuries of her opponent were not fake.
As a result of them, his aura was fluctuating violently, not only making his injuries obvious, but also making it clear that they were not small at all.
By now, Liora had realized something.
The earlier weakness she had sensed was not a trick of the Violence Lord, nor a part of a bigger conspiracy aimed at her.
Instead, it was his real, actual strength.
“Is this guy an imposter? Or some kind of half-step pseudo-True Devil?”, Liora couldn’t help but mutter, as her mind worked tirelessly to make sense of the situation.
Of course, she understood that it was impossible for this person to be an imposter.
Similarly, there was no such thing as a half-step or pseudo-True Devil.
Thus, when everything that occurred was analyzed, Liora arrived at a simple yet quite suitable conclusion:
“Are True Devils weaker than I thought?”, she questioned.
“Or rather, am I stronger than I expected?”
All this time, Liora had analyzed True Devils based on the only True Devil she had met so far, the True Heart Devil.
Although their confrontation in the Origin Sea had been brief, and she had succeeded in killing him quite quickly, Liora had managed to roughly estimate his full combat power.
Based on this analysis of her opponent, she had roughly estimated the strength that a True Devil should possess.
Unfortunately, it now seemed that her analysis was wrong from the very start.
The True Heart Devil was not an ordinary True Devil, but was far more powerful than she initially thought.
Most importantly, she, who had been able to kill him with relative ease, was even more powerful.
“I originally thought that the True Heart Devil was average or perhaps slightly stronger compared to other True Devils.”
“Now, it seems that I was mistaken…”, Liora thought as her gaze shifted to the injured Violence Lord.
If all True Devils were like this, then she had nothing to fear.
Thinking of this, Liora subconsciously wondered whether she should just kill this person.
She could be certain that, if she were to go all out and use her abilities and methods, she would be able to kill him in a relatively short period of time.
At worst, a couple of minutes; at best, a few seconds.
As long as she was willing, it wouldn’t take her much effort to harvest a new True Devil soul.
However, before Liora could think any deeper, the several auras deep within Bloodflower City that had previously remained silent could no longer stay still.
Immediately, several powerful figures emerged in the sky above the city and rushed towards the battlefield, stopping between the injured Violence Lord and Liora.
“Your Excellency, please stay your hand. I’m certain that everything is a misunderstanding. We’re willing to help you resolve your grievances.”, a person among them spoke up.
