Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 268: Gains

Chapter 268: Gains
In the end, Liora shook her head and didn’t even consider trying, knowing the answer already.
She didn’t possess Alpha’s mechanical core.
Although cutting her own body apart was not enough to kill her due to her extraordinary strength, she would still be injured.
Moreover, there was no benefit in doing so.
With that in mind, Liora did not linger for long.
After she spent a couple more minutes in this state and comprehended how the symbiosis worked, her mind moved, and the energy coursing through her body was expelled.
Under her control, it left her body and floated in the air in front of her before gathering into a mechanical core.
Then, countless tiny gears emerged, and with the core as the center, they were rearranged into a human body.
Within seconds, Alpha had reappeared, looking exactly the same as before, as if the earlier scene had been an illusion.
Still, her face had become slightly pale, and her aura had weakened a bit, making it clear that using the symbiosis state did not come without a cost.
“Your new abilities are quite useful.”
“Even excluding Symbiosis, you should be able to fight against most Lesser Devils provided that you’ve made enough preparations.”
As for what these preparations were?
Obviously, storing energy in her mechanical core to activate Overdrive.
Hearing the result of her analysis, Alpha was already quite satisfied.
After all, she had only just now advanced.
She didn’t believe that she would suddenly be able to fight against True Devils and stir up trouble in the Demon World.
The combat power she currently possessed was already more than enough.
“At the very least, I can assist the Lord in handling most things…”, Alpha thought secretly.
Since she didn’t voice these thoughts aloud, Liora did not know what she was thinking.
Having seen Alpha’s new abilities, she no longer chatted with her, giving her some time to recover.
The next moment, she exited the demi-plane, and with a surge of her demonic energy, she soared into the sky and rushed towards Bloodflower City.
—
Soon, Liora had returned to the inn where she had been staying.
As her consciousness spread and covered every single person in the building, she couldn’t help but feel a little strange.
Perhaps no one in the inn would have ever guessed that the person who had previously clashed against one of the six Lords was now staying here, acting as if she were an ordinary Devil.
Shaking her head, Liora suppressed these inexplicable thoughts.
Her focus shifted back to reality as she prepared to deal with the aftermath of today’s events.
Immediately, she waved her right hand as her mind connected to several faraway places.
Nothing occurred at first.
But a few minutes later, several crimson lights rushed from all over the 173rd Layer of the Demon World and entered the city before shooting towards her room.
Within seconds, the crimson lights had arrived in front of her, unveiling their true identity.
It was more than a dozen drops of blood.
Or to be more accurate, it was Liora’s own blood.
“Fortunately, I wasn’t forced to use Blood Rebirth. Still, it doesn’t mean that taking the necessary precautions is meaningless.”
Liora had not thrown caution out of the window when she decided to stir up trouble.
She had made ample preparations beforehand for her defeat and even her eventual “death”.
Among them was her scattering her blood across several hidden places, planning to use them as a medium for her rebirth in case of an accident.
After taking a deeper look at these drops, Liora reached out and grabbed them.
Instantly, they merged into her body and integrated with her own blood.
“It’s fine to leave my blood elsewhere in some low-level worlds, since there is no particularly powerful person there.”
“But in the Demon World, this can only be used as an emergency measure.”
“Otherwise, if a wandering powerful being happens to find them and decides to have some fun, I won’t even know how I died.”, Liora thought.
Done with this, Liora began to take stock of today’s gains.
Alpha’s transformation was the most apparent one, but it could be argued that it was not the most significant one.
Recalling this, Liora’s mind reached into the Space Orb, and several items were taken out, controlled by her demonic energy to float in front of her.
If the Lords of Bloodflower City were here, they would immediately realize that these items were the objects she had extorted from them, making their faces turn red with anger.
“Three cores of True Devil-level Fire Elementals…”, Liora muttered as her eyes fell on the first three items.
Then, her gaze moved to the side.
Densely packed mist was floating there, swirling strangely in the air as if it wanted to break free from its invisible shackles.
Having seen it several times before and sensing the longing stemming from her bloodline, Liora understood that the True Devils had not tricked her.
“Two portions of World Origin…”, she whispered.
Devils invading other worlds and plundering their World Origin was a common occurrence.
Thus, by now, they had created a unit of measurement for it.
The World Origin of an entire low-level world was considered a unit, referred to as a portion.
This meant that the World Origin that Liora had managed to extort was equal to two low-level worlds being destroyed and plundered of their energy.
“I didn’t expect that those guys had World Origin in their possession. Usually, only Greater Devils would do.”
“After all, besides World Devourers, True Devils have no use for it.”
Liora believed that the last part was the reason why the six Lords were willing to part with it so easily and didn’t try to fight her over it.
If they had any use for World Origin and could utilize it to improve their strength, a battle would have been inevitable.
“World Origin for the World Devourer Method and Fire Elemental cores for the Four Elements Method…”
“Sure enough, plundering is indeed the easiest and fastest way for one to become rich.”
“Especially plundering from other powerful beings.”
Unfortunately, Liora knew that she would not be able to extort more things from those six people.
Otherwise, even if they were sure to be defeated, they would still choose to fight with her.
“In fact, those people are hardly a threat.”
“Even with my current strength, I should be able to kill them at the cost of some weak injuries.”
“Once I have digested those two things and my strength has improved even further, doing so will be even easier.”
Still, Liora had not let her guard down.
The person who posed the most danger to her at the moment was Duke Bloodflower, a Greater Devil with whom she was unwilling to clash at this point in time.
“However, the state of that person doesn’t seem to be very good. Why did they not emerge when I was stirring up trouble?”
“Is it because they truly do not care about the city as long as they receive the so-called tax on time, or is there anything that makes it impossible for them to take action?”
