Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 271: Black Coffin

Chapter 271: Black Coffin
While Liora was occupied by her own thoughts, Alpha’s figure unknowingly reappeared in the room.
Bowing slightly, she looked at Liora, who was lost in thought, and spoke up:
“Lord, the guest has left.”, she said, to which Liora nodded.
Taking a deeper look at her subordinate, Liora thought for a brief moment before saying:
“Use the next few days to get familiar with your newfound strength and abilities. We will be going out next, and it’s unknown what danger we will face.”
“At times like these, one can only rely on their own strength. Work hard to improve yourself.”, she added.
Her words hardly came as a surprise.
Even if she hadn’t said anything, the first thing that Alpha would have done was to get familiar with her current strength.
She had listened to the conversation between Liora and the Slave Lord and knew that things would not stay quiet for long, and peace would not last.
Still, Alpha nodded to show that she understood. But she didn’t rush to leave.
She raised her head and took a peek at Liora, while her mouth opened as if she wanted to say something, but was hesitating.
In the end, she mustered up her courage and asked the question plaguing her mind:
“Lord, are we still going to stay in the city? My previous feeling is still there…”
“If anything, it has become even more intense since we returned.”
Liora immediately understood what she was referring to.
Earlier, Alpha had mentioned that she had sensed a feeling of suppression emanating from deep within Bloodflower City, a feeling that one would have when facing a far more powerful creature.
This by itself was hardly a surprise, though. There were several True Devils and even a Greater Devil in the city, making it natural that Alpha would have palpitations.
However, what was bizarre and interesting at the same time was that Alpha had only noticed this feeling after her transformation had been completed.
This made both Alpha and Liora raise their eyebrows, guessing that there was something wrong.
By now, a faint guess had formed in Liora’s mind regarding the situation. However, she did not explain it to Alpha.
“Don’t worry about it.”, she looked at Alpha and said casually.
Though she didn’t reveal it, Alpha keenly sensed that Liora might have caught onto something.
If it were another person in such a situation, they would have been filled with curiosity and would have asked further questions, pressing Liora for answers.
However, being a mechanical puppet in nature still, Alpha suppressed her curiosity, merely noting this feeling down.
Then, she bowed one more time and turned around, planning to familiarize herself with her transformed self.
Liora did not keep her here.
After she watched her leave, she also shifted her focus to her own practice.
Taking out the cores of the True Devil Fire Elementals and the suppressed World Origin, she urged her bloodline and began to devour them.
The former turned into nutrients for the Four Elements Method and enhanced her Elemental Affinity, while the latter helped her evolve her World Devourer bloodline and bring her closer to an advancement.
At a terrifying speed, Liora’s strength was growing as many insights poured into her mind.

On the other hand, after the Slave Lord left the inn, she didn’t return to her residence.
Instead, she arrived at the center of the city and entered a small, relatively unassuming building before going underground.
Soon after, she found herself in a large room with several torches hanging from its walls. Though there were many items scattered across the ground, such as weapons and precious metals, one’s attention was bound to be drawn to its very center.
There, a large coffin lay on the floor.
Black in color and more than ten meters in both length and width, it became the protagonist in the room, as if this place had been created to house it.
As soon as she stepped inside, the Slave Lord’s gaze landed on the black coffin, and she lowered her head, showing her respect.
The room went silent until suddenly, a powerful consciousness extended from inside the coffin and swept across the room.
A moment later, a cold voice echoed in the Slave Lord’s mind.
“How did it go? Did that person agree?”, the voice questioned.
The Slave Lord immediately nodded her head.
“Yes. We’ve already signed the Devil Contract.”
“We agreed to meet in a few days and visit the Hollow.”, she responded before falling into a brief pause.
“However, can you be certain that everything will work out fine? You should have witnessed her strength earlier. I’m afraid that few True Devils can defeat her.”
“Most importantly, it’s hard to say that this is all of her strength.”
The other person did not show any anger at her questioning words. Obviously, despite the respect that the Slave Lord showed, the two were not in a master-subordinate relationship.
Rather, their relationship was far more complicated.
As the Slave Lord’s words fell, the black coffin suddenly quivered.
Dust and pieces of stone fell from its surface while its lid moved to the side and a small gap opened.
From it, a large figure was revealed lying inside, as a pair of bright eyes flickered in the darkness,
The next second, though, several black tentacles wrapped around the lid and placed it back, locking it in place.
As if nothing had happened and the earlier scene was an illusion, the owner of the cold voice communicated with the Slave Lord again:
“Don’t worry. Worst case scenario, I will use ’that’. No matter how powerful she is, I have already confirmed that she is just a True Devil.”
The other person did not explicitly state what ’that’ was.
However, the Slave Lord seemed to understand.
Not only did she not question them, but instead, a surge of confidence arose within her.
Indeed, just like that person said, if they were to use ’that’, Liora would be no threat.
