Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 290: Chaos

Chapter 290: Chaos
The mysterious droplet of blood was something Liora had obtained while still in the Crucible, plundered after the death of Lord Embers.
On the other hand, the Bloodforge Halberd was obtained during her descent into the world of Knights, while the Four Elements Token was obtained during her escape from the Inferno Valley.
However, no matter which of these three items it was, they all remained extremely mysterious in Liora’s eyes.
Although she had become a True Devil and could contend against Greater Devils, she was still unable to see through these items’ true nature.
Each of them was impossible to investigate, seemingly far beyond her current level.
Exactly because of that, Liora was unwilling to come into contact with them.
Even the mysterious blood, which had granted her much help in the past and had helped her develop two new abilities, had not appeared since her return to the Demon World.
In her opinion, it was fine to gamble with her own life when she was still weak and struggling to survive.
But now that she had become strong enough to protect herself, there was no reason to involve herself with something so dangerous.
Because of all the above, Liora had been trying to think of ways to get rid of all these things without putting herself into danger.
And now, in this otherwise threatening situation, she had seen the light of hope.
—
Affected by the two confronting auras, the several items awakened all at once.
The Four Elements Token flashed with a four-colored light, while the Bloodforge Halberd exuded a murderous intention, seemingly representing an army that had fought for thousands of years.
The most important, however, was the wooden chest. With a bang, its lid was thrown off, revealing the blood floating inside.
In an instant, the original two confronting auras had now increased in number.
The items and the two Devils clashed against each other in the air, causing the entire demi-plane to shake violently.
Watching from a distance, Liora saw that the first to break the balance was the Archdevil corpse.
After only a brief pause in its movements, the downward momentum of its hand resumed, as its palm struck Duke Bloodflower on the chest.
The flames surrounding him parted. The wooden body under them cracked, as if it were about to shatter.
Yet, the next second, the many flames surged, and his injuries healed. A pair of bloody red eyes was revealed beneath the fire elements, shining with a predatory, bloodthirsty light.
Following a loud growl, the crazy Duke charged at the Archdevil.
Impacted by the aftermath of their battle, the surrounding items were also affected.
The Four Elements Token and the mysterious droplet were fine, but the Bloodforge Halberd instantly shattered, turning into dust.
This was to be expected. Although mysterious, the Bloodforge Halberd was still only at the Lesser Devil level.
Faced with the battle between two beings that were powerful beyond imagination, it was easily destroyed.
Only a small light flew out of its remains and fled into the distance, being its last trace in the world.
No one had the time to pay attention or stop it. The fight continued.
The two powerful beings collided several times, breaking the space around them and bringing destruction upon the demi-plane.
Even though Liora had hastily retreated to the edge of this place, hundreds of tiny wounds formed on her body as several wind blades struck her.
It was only when she activated Virtualization and “elevated” in dimension that she was able to regain her footing.
“So strong!”
“Is this a battle between two Archdevils?”, she couldn’t help but wonder, only to then shake her head.
“No! The Archdevil corpse is unable to use its abilities. I’m afraid that it can only wield less than ten percent of its real strength.”, she made a guess, which was in fact terrifying.
If the mere corpse of an Archdevil was this strong, then how powerful would a real Archdevil be?
Most importantly, Liora realized something quite shocking.
At some point in time, her control over the corpse had disappeared, and Life Infusion had unknowingly been deactivated.
This meant that she was no longer the one controlling the corpse. Judging from the faint trace of intelligence flickering in its two eyes, she had a guess.
“Revival? Possession? Or something else?”, Liora questioned, though it ultimately didn’t matter.
Either way, the Archdevil corpse was now out of control!
Liora was not fearful of such a development. Instead, she was quite happy to see it.
The more chaotic things became, the more beneficial it would be to her! Only in such an environment would she have the chance to benefit!
While thinking of this, Liora’s eyes momentarily wandered off the battlefield. Her eyes fell on the two remaining items.
Or rather, at the one remaining item.
At some unknown point, the Four Elements Token had been affected by the aftermath, thrown away, and disappeared into the distance.
On the other hand, the mysterious blood remained active, following the battle and floating right above the two fighting beings.
It would tremble from time to time and want to fall down, but seemingly afraid of something, it would ultimately retreat.
Though it was an inanimate object, Liora was strangely able to understand its thoughts. Obviously, it was trying to get itself involved in the fight.
Or to be more accurate, it was trying to take advantage of the fight to accomplish something.
Liora had trouble guessing its goal. However, with her only goal being to make the situation ever more chaotic, she didn’t hesitate.
She decided to give a helping hand.
Immediately, her attention shifted inwards, falling at the Fire Elemental core residing beside her soul.
Since the fight began, this thing had become even more active, seemingly summoned by something.
Recalling the Duke’s transformation, Liora was hardly surprised.
With a move of her mind, her consciousness turned into a hand and attempted to expel the core from her body.
She had already tried this several times before, and her attempts had all resulted in failure. The core had remained completely motionless, seemingly oblivious to her efforts.
But perhaps it had sensed something, so this time, it did not remain still. Not only did it not resist, but instead it helped Liora, allowing her to expel it from her body.
With a faint hum, the Fire Elemental core emerged in the demi-plane.
The moment it did, it rushed towards the Duke and entered his body, causing his aura to surge even further.
Being his opponent, the Archdevil corpse immediately noticed this. The result was that it paused.
This pause only lasted for a brief moment. But during this short window of opportunity, the mysterious blood took the chance.
Ignoring the transforming Duke, it rushed down and fell onto the corpse before drilling into its body.
A trace of struggle flashed in the corpse’s eyes. But the next moment, it disappeared.
Its eyes turned pink, similar to the color of the mysterious blood, while a bloodthirsty growl emerged from its mouth.
Reaching out to its own shoulder, the corpse tore apart its left arm and used it as a weapon to attack the Duke.
