Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 292: Recovery

Chapter 292: Recovery
The blood squirmed and elongated, slowly taking a human form.
However, something seemed to be missing.
Though the blood weaved together and attempted to transform into bones and flesh, its efforts ultimately resulted in a failure.
Fortunately, just when it seemed that its attempts were for naught, a small orb appeared out of nowhere and landed right next to it.
With a flicker, another orb flew out, this time slightly bigger. It landed on the transforming blood, melting right into it.
Instantly, boundless energy began pouring out of the orb and integrating with the blood. As a result, the originally crumbling humanoid figure started to recover.
The blood turned into tiny threads which stuck together, transforming into a skeleton, a piece of flesh, and finally a coat of skin.
Soon, a familiar figure had emerged.
It was none other than Liora.
The moment she was revived, a brief confusion flashed across her eyes.
But the next moment, this confusion vanished.
Her expression turned stern and somewhat pondering before she finally gritted her teeth:
“What a huge loss!”, she couldn’t help but whisper, her voice filled with anger and resentment.
As everything that had just happened resurfaced in Liora’s mind, she understood that she had suffered a great loss!
The Archdevil corpse, the Fire Elemental core, and even several of her own items had been destroyed.
Her originally fruitful adventure had now turned out for naught.
Not only had she not obtained anything in that small demi-plane, but she also lost several of her own items.
It was natural for Liora to feel resentful. But soon, she took a deep breath and calmed down.
It was already an achievement that she had managed to survive in the battle between two such beings.
In fact, if it were not for her quick reaction at the final moment, Liora understood that the last creature could have easily killed her and rendered her Blood Rebirth invalid.
Most importantly…
“Perhaps obtaining those two things is not a good thing for me.”
“Just like those items that were previously in my possession but I was too afraid to touch, the Archdevil corpse and the Fire Elemental core might have turned out to be hidden dangers instead.”
Liora realized that her understanding of such powerhouses was quite lackluster. The strength that Duke Bloodflower displayed was already impressive, and those beings were bound to be even more powerful.
“If I’m not wrong, me using Life Infusion awakened the consciousness inside the corpse. In a certain sense, the Archdevil was revived.”
“Similarly, the Fire Elemental core was affected by the Duke’s transformation and was also awakened.”
Liora had already confirmed that neither of those two beings was alive before, with their souls having been completely wiped out.
Yet despite this, the two were able to revive, taking the opportunity to return to this world.
“Sure enough, strong people can never be underestimated…”
“I have Blood Rebirth and can be reborn as long as my soul is not wiped out. Other, more powerful beings, possess even more bizarre means and trump cards than I.”
Thinking of this, Liora shook her head and pushed this matter aside.
At the end of the day, most of her goals had been achieved.
She had obtained many precious resources during this trip, and by using them, she would be able to improve her combat power even further.
Most importantly, the several hidden dangers around her had ceased to exist.
She no longer needed to fear for the mysterious blood’s outburst, nor for the threat brought by the Four Elements Token.
With that in mind, Liora relaxed, no longer as angry as before.
She rose to her feet and was about to exit the symbiotic state between her and Alpha.
But just then, a small white light appeared on the horizon. Its speed was not high, but it fluttered with the wind, slowly approaching her current location.
A few seconds later, the white light settled right in front of her.
Liora recognized it immediately.
It was the light that had appeared after the Bloodforge Halberd’s destruction, during the earlier fight between the corpse and the Duke.
At that time, it was the weakest of all the parties and had shattered almost instantly.
Yet, perhaps out of luck, no one had cared about it at the time, including Liora.
She never expected that this light would appear in front of her once again, not long after the battle’s end, however.
As its faint light was reflected in her eyes, a barely perceptible flicker flashed within her pupils. Following a fluctuation in the air, information poured into her mind.
The more information she digested, the more surprised Liora grew.
By the end, she had finally understood why the True Heart Devil had been seeking this item, even going against her over it.
—
Liora did not stay near the Hollow for long.
Although she did not know the actions of the conglomerated creature and that it had tried to break through the Inferno Valley, she still understood that this place was not safe at all.
Thus, after collecting the blood she had left behind and erasing her remaining traces, she hastily left this place.
—
Liora did not return to Bloodflower City. She knew that even if she went there, she would find nothing. The fate of the city itself and its citizens had become clear long ago.
Rather than wasting her time, it would be better to find a place to take care of the aftermath and think over the entire situation.
Originally, Liora believed that this would be simple. With her current strength, only Greater Devils and stronger beings could bring her any danger, making her journey quite uneventful.
At the same time, considering her extraordinary strength, it would take her only a few hours to reach the closest city.
However, as Liora approached the nearest city, she understood that her original thoughts had been wrong.
Especially when she landed on the ground and took a deeper look at the “city”, she couldn’t help but let out a sigh.
