Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 298: Gods and Mortals

Chapter 298: Gods and Mortals
These two people were not kind at all.
After all, which good person would become a member of the infamous Blood Devil Sect?
Moreover, this was not a rule-based world like that of the Knights. From her memories, Liora judged that its atmosphere was closer to the Demon World, with evil acts being a common occurrence.
Seeing the two people tremble with excitement like perverts, Liora couldn’t help but roll her eyes. But ultimately, she took their silence as an agreement.
“Besides that, there is another, perhaps greater, task.”, she said and reached into her clothes before taking a parchment out.
“I want you to find this woman.”, she said as she unrolled the paper and revealed its contents.
It was the painting of the aforementioned unknown woman. With brown hair and amber eyes, the painting fully revealed her beauty.
“Don’t harm her or attempt to communicate with her. You should let me know the very moment you find her. This is of utmost importance.”, she added.
To Liora, this task was far more important than collecting information.
During her descent into this world, she had activated the Heavenly Devil ability and reincarnated.
As Alpha was her own creation, she had also covered her with its power.
Originally, Liora believed that it would not take her long to awaken, and she would thus easily find Alpha.
But now that so many years had passed, she understood that this was no longer a simple task.
If she wanted to find Alpha, she would have to use every bit of power in her hands, including the Blood Devil Sect.
The two Masters could obviously not know what Liora was thinking.
Seeing the portrait of Alpha, they etched her appearance into their memories, planning to send out disciples to search for her when they finally went back.
They didn’t ask Liora her purpose. They knew the Sect Leader’s temper best.
If she wanted to tell them, she would have already done so. Since she chose to remain silent, they would not get an answer even if they were to ask.
“Sect Leader, do you wish to search only in the area controlled by the Blood Devil Sect? If this person is in the jurisdiction of other sects…”
Before the young woman could finish her words, Liora waved her hand.
“Don’t worry. Search the entire Northern Lands. If any other sect, righteous and evil alike, dares to stop you, inform me, and I’ll take care of it.”
The two Masters swallowed the words they were about to say.
From her tone, they understood that she attached great importance to finding this unknown woman, and they could not change her resolve.
Secretly, the pair vowed that they would do their best to complete this task, unwilling to disappoint their Sect Leader.
—
While Liora was appointing tasks to her two deputies, one related to improving her strength and one related to finding Alpha, a group of uninvited guests arrived at the Northern Lands unbeknownst to everyone.
“Is this the Northern Area?”
“I heard that people in this place are savages and their civilization is far less advanced than that of the Central Area.”, one man among them, with a young face and wearing fine clothes, chatted with his companions, who were all of similar age.
“Hehe. The people here are all mortals. My cousin has visited this place before and told me that this place’s rulers are all mortal Warriors.”, a young woman beside him chuckled, bringing her hand up to cover her shy smile.
But although she acted cutely, like an ordinary young girl that one could find next door, her earlier words and the tone of her voice showcased her contempt towards the people of the Northern Area and the so-called Warriors.
Just like the young man had previously mentioned, everyone in their team, including her, considered them as savages, lesser people who were not of the same race as them.
Not only did no one in the group argue, but they instead nodded and echoed her words.
Only a middle-aged man at the very back of the team remained silent.
He was the strongest among this group, having been assigned as the protector of these young people.
Recalling the instructions he had previously, asking him to help them understand the world, the middle-aged man looked at the laughing young people and coughed, getting their attention.
“You shouldn’t underestimate those mortals. Although most of them are weak, there are some powerful individuals among them. For example, the Masters among them may be able to bring you some trouble.”
“Uncle, there’s no reason to lie to us. No matter how powerful Warriors are, they will never be able to harm us, much less defeat us.”
“A mortal is a mortal after all.”, the young man who had called people savages earlier interrupted with a smile.
However, the protector did not argue. What he was saying was indeed the truth.
Mortals were on a different level than they were.
“A mortal is only a mortal after all”, this was a famous saying and was actually quite accurate.
Could a mortal kill a God? Impossible!
“Anyway.”, the middle-aged man changed the topic of the conversation.
“The reason the Clan sent you here was because of the appearance of a powerful Evil Spirit. The mortals affiliated with our Clan have requested our help. They’ve promised to reward the participants handsomely.”, he said and added:
“Moreover, a new organization has recently emerged in this remote place, one that is not affiliated with any of the Clan. The Clan Head requested that we make it our subordinate force.”
“Uncle, what if they refuse?”, a person asked, and facing this question, the middle-aged man shook his head.
“If they don’t know what’s good for them, then we will deal with them as per usual.”
“Perhaps it’s for the best if they refuse.”
“The sacrifices given by the Northern Lands have decreased over the past decades. Maybe it’s time to wake those stupid mortals up and remind them of their identity.”
