Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 299: Preparations

Chapter 299: Preparations
No one, including Liora, knew about the arrival of this team composed mostly of young people.
Perhaps only the organization that had invited them suspected something, though they would have never guessed that their current goal was to clean up the Evil Spirits while taking care of the infamous Sect that had recently arisen.
—
“Are you finished? How come there are so many sects?”, Liora stared at the pile of books placed in front of her speechlessly and questioned the young-looking Master who had come to deliver them.
In response, Rose could only shake her head.
“Sect Leader, the Northern Lands cover almost twenty percent of the entire continent. It is divided into different regions, with each region further subdivided into prefectures, cities, etc.”
Seeing that Liora was beginning to get impatient with her lengthy explanation, Rose’s speech became more straightforward.
“In general, each city has its own Sect or an organization overseeing it.”
“Although most of these forces are weak, with the majority only having Blood Awakening Warriors at the helm, they are still considered forces after all.”, she said.
“Moreover, many of these sects have banded together to establish the Warrior Alliance. Besides the Seven Great Sects, this alliance is currently the strongest force in the Northern Lands.”
“Moreover, since most of its members are ordinary people without much talent, they are very popular among the folk.”
This information awakened the hidden memories in Liora’s mind.
Indeed, after a bit of thought, she realized that Rose was telling the truth.
Still, staring at the many stacks of books placed in front of her, she had a headache. Could she really go through them all?
Rose had been with Liora for many years. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have become one of the two deputy Sect Leaders.
Her strength as a Warrior was indeed great, but she was not the strongest in the Blood Devil Sect. In fact, the reason she had been able to obtain such a position was because of Liora’s trust in her.
After all, the Blood Devil Sect was unlike other sects, which had been passed down for centuries. In the sect, Liora’s words were the law.
If she wished to, she could make an ordinary person the Supreme Elder.
Sensing Liora’s current predicament, Rose didn’t tease her but took the initiative to speak up:
“If I’m not wrong, the Sect Leader’s goal is to suppress one of these sects to display the Blood Devil Sect’s might. Moreover, with the Sect Leader’s breakthrough…”
Halfway through her words, Rose recalled something and stopped talking, before continuing:
“Since the leader’s goal is this, it doesn’t make sense to target any of these overly weak forces. Suppressing a bunch of weaklings is meaningless and won’t impress those people.”
“Our target can not be too strong, either.”
“The relationship between the Seven Great Sects is extremely complicated. If we target one of them or even annihilate it, it’s likely that everyone will resolve their differences and band against us.”
Noticing that Liora remained silent, seemingly listening to her judgment attentively, Rose continued:
“I suggest that we attack the Heavenly Sword Sect. Besides the Seven Great Sects, it’s the strongest force in the Northern Lands. Moreover, it is part of the Warrior Alliance.”
“Not only can we display our sect’s might, but we can also take advantage of the opportunity to suppress some of these weak forces. This way, we can request a bigger dividend from them in the future.”
“Using these resources, we will be able to cultivate more disciples.”
Rose had no way of knowing that her Sect Leader had been “replaced”, unknowingly becoming a Devil.
Therefore, she couldn’t possibly know that Liora’s goal was not to showcase her strength, but to collect souls and convert them into Evolution Points.
Her analysis came from the perspective of the sect, seeking to get the most out of the least.
Liora did not say anything, though. For her, it ultimately didn’t matter which force the Blood Devil Sect attacked.
As long as there were Evolution Points to be gained, she didn’t have a problem.
Since that was the case, she nodded her head and agreed to Rose’s proposal.
“It’s set then. In three days, the Blood Devil Sect will attack the Heavenly Sword Sect.”
“Order the disciples and Elders venturing outside to return to the sect, and make the relevant preparations.”, Liora ordered Rose, who nodded her head to show that she understood.
After Rose asked a few things and departed, Liora no longer stayed in the Meeting Hall. Or to be more accurate, she no longer stayed in the Blood Devil Sect.
Unbeknownst to everyone, including the several Masters, she secretly left.
—
Just like Rose previously mentioned, the Northern Lands were divided into several different regions.
The Blood Devil Sect was located in its northern region, bordering the Whitefall Mountains further up north and being on the opposite side of the Central Area.
The Whitefall Mountains were not populated by humans, but by demons—animals who had evolved and possessed extraordinary strength.
Liora had heard rumors that there were demons with the power of Grandmasters deep within this area, though no one had ever tried to confirm it.
However, now that she had arrived in this place, Liora could say with certainty that this was actually true.
As her consciousness swept through the mountains, she instantly detected several powerful auras, all belonging to demons rather than humans.
Just within a radius of a few kilometers around her, she discovered several Master-level demons and hundreds of demons with lower strength.
“I’m afraid that there are thousands of Master-level demons in this mountain as a whole.”
“It’s no wonder that no human dares to venture into this place.”, Liora thought secretly, though part of her focus was on something else.
As her consciousness swept through the mountain and washed over the snow-covered peaks, she noticed something peculiar.
Although the strength of her soul had not increased in the slightest, the radius she was now able to detect around her had grown bigger.
If before, her consciousness could spread for eight hundred meters, then it could now spread for more than a kilometer. An improvement of almost twenty percent was not negligible at all.
Moreover, the fact that neither her soul nor her consciousness had been enhanced made this phenomenon quite bizarre and inexplicable.
“Is it because of my strength as a Grandmaster? Grandmasters have begun to refine their souls.”, Liora couldn’t help but think, feeling that this was an unexpected source of happiness.
Still, her footsteps did not pause. She silently walked deeper into the mountains, with her hands clasped behind her back.
Just when her feet stepped on a large stone and crushed it, her eyes captured a blurring motion at the edge of her vision.
A ferocious growl rang in her ears while the cold breath of a demon assaulted her face.
