Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 300: Blood Blade Technique

Chapter 300: Blood Blade Technique
The moment Liora turned her head, the appearance of the creature attacking her became clear.
It was a bear.
With white fur, four powerful limbs, and a set of razor-sharp teeth, it resembled the polar bears that one would find back on Earth.
But being a demon, this one was quite different.
It was many times bigger than an ordinary polar bear, with a height of over ten meters, even while crawling on all fours, while a blue sphere had formed within its mouth.
As the sphere revolved and grew bigger, the temperature around Liora began to decrease.
Frost grew along her skin and covered it in a web of ice, while the air itself started to freeze, growing into stalactite-shaped structures that fell down.
“A Master-level demon.”, Liora judged.
By a mere glance, she was able to see through this demon. Its power was extraordinary, far beyond that of Rose and the old man.
If the two were to meet this creature in the wilderness, they would probably die within a few exchanges. Only by cooperating would they have a chance of escaping.
“It hasn’t been long since I stepped into the forest, yet I was already targeted by such a demon. The rumors that Grandmaster-level demons reside in these mountains are not baseless at all.”, Liora whispered, but her footsteps did not pause.
She seemingly ignored the demon beside her and resumed her walk, only making a move with her hand towards the saber hanging on her waist.
The bear did not stop to think why she acted like this.
Just like Rose and the old man, it had also sensed that Liora brought it no threat and was not a human Master.
In its opinion, this woman was just a mortal, an unlucky person who, for some reason, entered its habitat.
However, just when it was about to fire its Cold Breath and tear her apart, its forward momentum suddenly halted.
Liora’s right hand blurred, as if it were skipping frames, before it finally returned to the side and settled down.
At the same time, several lights flashed in front of the demon, their crimson color reflecting off its icy-blue eyes.
The moment Liora’s raised foot landed on the ground, the demon’s body was broken apart.
Its head, four limbs, and torso were separated, sliced through cleanly, and it fell to the ground like a pig that had just been butchered.
The ferocious demon was unable to even let out a whimper in its final moments.
Seemingly inexplicably, it had been cut apart, like a toy whose head and limbs were taken off.
Only the few drops of blood dripping out of Liora’s scabbard could give an explanation for what had happened.
“Blood Blade Technique…”, Liora whispered.
“It deserves its reputation.”, she commented as her right hand moved and collected the demon’s soul, allowing the System to convert it into Evolution Points.
At the same time, she took a step forward and flashed beside the bear’s corpse, reaching out with her left hand.
The Myriad Devils Body was activated upon coming into contact with the cold fur.
The ferocious demon was further broken apart and devoured by the mouths growing along Liora’s skin, transforming into nourishment for her and improving her physical strength.
If this were the Demon World, Liora would not have cared about devouring such a low-level creature. After all, the improvement it would have brought her was minimal, less than what she would obtain by practicing one of the two Devil Techniques for a few seconds.
But now that she was in a weakened state, it was completely different.
“It would be fine if you didn’t appear in front of me. Since I don’t want to go through the trouble of searching for you, I could let you live.”
“But, you dare to regard me as your prey.”
“You can only blame your bad luck for offending the wrong person…”, Liora addressed the now dead demon, though she knew that it had no way of listening to her words.
After making use of everything and thanking this demon for its contribution, Liora erased her traces and turned around. She resumed her previous journey, going deeper into the Whitefall Mountains.
At the same time, though, she secretly grew even more cautious.
She had just stepped into this place, yet she was attacked by a Master. If she went deeper, wouldn’t she soon meet a Grandmaster?
More importantly, would she eventually meet a stronger creature?
—
Unlike how it may have seemed, Liora’s goal in coming to this mountain was not to hunt demons or dig out this place’s secrets.
Thus, after she killed a few more demons, devouring their souls and flesh alike, she put a stop to her adventure and turned around, seemingly replicating the earlier journey.
Without any hesitation, she left the Whitefall Mountains, making sure to avoid those powerful demons.
It was only when she had left the mountain behind her that Liora finally turned around and took a deeper look at it. Its snow-covered peaks were reflected in her eyes, while the faint but bloodthirsty growls echoed in her ears.
Her stay in this place had been brief, but such a short adventure had made her quite curious.
Although other people might wonder whether Grandmaster-level demons existed in it, Liora could be certain. On the other hand, what made her curious was whether there were stronger beings in it.
“Unfortunately, now is not the time to dig out its secrets. It’s better to regain my strength first.”
“Once I’ve regained my full strength and even improved further, any secret that this world has will be revealed to me on its own.”
Her words seemed grand and ambitious, but what it boiled down to was fairly simple:
At the moment, Liora preferred to bully the weak humans of the Northern Lands rather than clashing with the ferocious demons of the Whitefall Mountains.
Only when she was sure to protect herself would she revisit this place and try to obtain any possible benefits from it.
