Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 309: Aftermath

Chapter 309: Aftermath
After she analyzed the scene, she no longer remained motionless.
Her figure blurred before appearing beside the unconscious middle-aged man.
As a result of the earlier confrontation, he had fallen unconscious.
Liora could see that this was because the Indestructible Matter-like substance he was using had been exhausted, and his recovery capabilities had disappeared.
Leaning down, she picked him up from the scruff of the neck, planning to keep him alive for now and try to find information through him.
Still, she didn’t leave, but teleported above the nearby village.
Her recovered consciousness spread out, wanting to see if there were any survivors. Though she strongly doubted it.
Even the middle-aged man had been knocked unconscious. Although the village was far from the epicenter of the battle, the group of young people was quite weak.
She didn’t believe that they would be alive. Affected by the earlier confrontation, there was a ninety-nine percent chance that they were all dead.
“Huh?”
But soon, a faint exclamation escaped Liora’s lips. She passed through a destroyed rooftop and landed on the ground, lowering her head and staring at the scene in front of her with a strange expression.
Two people were hiding inside the house, leaning against a wall in an attempt to withstand the impact.
This was hardly surprising.
What made Liora feel strange was that one of them was still alive, though unconscious.
A young woman with an innocent smile on her face and closed eyes stood behind the corpse of a young man, with her hands wrapped tightly around his waist.
The man had indeed died from the aftermath. But beside those wounds, Liora noticed a clean slash at the back of his head, one that only a sword could make.
Although it was impossible to be certain, she could already imagine the scene.
These two people huddled together and tried to survive, working together to withstand the impact.
Just when the young man had let down his guard, the woman suddenly attacked him and killed him in one strike. Then, restraining him and using his body as a shield, she tried to survive.
Her plan had obviously succeeded. The young man’s Indestructible Matter made him perfect for a human shield, thus helping the woman achieve her goal.
“Such ruthlessness! She deserves to be a person who slaughtered an entire village without blinking an eye.”
“I didn’t expect to find such a talent in this place.”, Liora couldn’t help but sigh.
Out of her love for talents and the need for an extra captive, she also picked her up and carried her together with her protector’s body.
Then, after confirming that she was the only survivor in the entire village, she collected the belongings of everyone and finally left.
Silence shrouded the area. The once lively village had now become empty.
The reason for everyone’s death? To become consumables for an ability’s activation.

Liora did not take the road back to the Blood Devil Sect. Instead, she returned to the Heavenly Sword Sect, landing in the forbidden area and taking a look at the mountain below.
As her consciousness swept out and spread outside, she discovered a set of familiar auras.
“Have you finally arrived?”
“Just in time.”, she muttered as she waved her hand.
The space before her blurred, and the next moment, two people landed in the forbidden area.
Rose and the elderly Master were stunned. They didn’t understand how they had arrived at this place.
Their bodies tensed up, and they got closer, ready to defend against the culprit.
However, when they saw Liora, they slightly relaxed. Still, both of them remained shocked.
“Sect Leader. This, this…”, Rose’s voice couldn’t help but tremble.
Liora did not explain.
“I’ve already killed the Masters of the Heavenly Sword Sect. However, I don’t have the time to deal with the disciples.”
“Take the people of the Blood Devil Sect and suppress the chaos in the mountain.”
“The people who are willing to surrender will become servant disciples. As for those who don’t…”
“Kill!”
Rose and the old man were not surprised by such ruthless means. In their opinion, it would be fine even if all the Heavenly Sword Sect disciples were killed.
Now that some of them had been spared, it showed Liora’s magnanimity.
Sure enough, their leader was not as rumored!
How could an evil person show such kindness to the weak?!
Liora did not know what they were thinking. Seeing them nod, she continued:
“It’s been a while since the Masters died, so some people should have taken the opportunity to escape. Send a few disciples to hunt them down.”
Liora did not stop there.
She gave instructions on how to deal with the resources found in the Heavenly Sword Sect, as well as how to deal with the overall aftermath.
Then, seeing that the old man and Rose understood everything, she no longer lingered. With a wave of her hand, she gestured the pair to leave and begin their work.
Only a few minutes later, several painful screams and pleas for mercy echoed in the mountains.
But Liora did not care.
After she gave the orders, she didn’t pay attention to the mountain but entered the wooden hut and began taking stock of her harvest.
Several fragments of weapons were laid in front of her, as well as many other common items.
However, what Liora paid the most attention to were the two rings in her hand.
One white and one bronze. They belonged to the unfortunate man hugged by the woman and the middle-aged man, respectively.
They looked like ordinary pieces of ornament.
But Liora, having possessed one of these items before, immediately discovered their real function.
Storage spaces. Both of the rings were storage spaces like the Space Orb, with an entirely different space hidden within them.
Liora was familiar with such things and tried to open them.
But unexpectedly, an accident occurred.
As she used her demonic energy to peep into them, she discovered that she couldn’t open the rings. The same held true when she tried to use her Qi and Blood.
“Can they only be opened using the power of those freaks?”
“Should I wait for those two people to wake up?”, Liora thought, but she decided to give it another try.
The crimson saber in her soul trembled, and a small part of power flowed out, wrapping around her hands and pouring into the two rings.
Instantly, Liora heard a clicking sound in her ears. Her consciousness expanded and washed over the two rings, suddenly appearing in another space.
