Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 318: Divine Blood Pool

Chapter 318: Divine Blood Pool
The Divine Blood Pool was one of the treasured places of the Ouroboros Clan.
Just like its name would suggest, it was a giant pool filled with blood, rumored to belong to a Demon Sovereign.
The main function of the blood pool was to assist members of the Ouroboros Clan in improving their strength, but in unexpected situations, it would also be opened to help important members recover.
Serving as the head of the Clan, the young-looking man had the permission to open the Divine Blood Pool once every other year.
He was originally prepared to send one of his subordinates to help them grow stronger. However, now that his daughter had been seriously injured, this was no longer an option.
After settling Ophis into the blood pool and giving a set of instructions, the Clan Head did not stay here for long, only leaving a few guards behind.
He, on the other hand, quickly returned to his study room, closing the surrounding space and rendering people unable to observe.
As soon as this was done, the shadow behind him squirmed. A person draped in a long black robe rushed out and faced him respectfully.
“My lord!”
The Clan Head nodded and motioned him to get up.
“Have you interrogated that guy? Did you find anything?”, he questioned.
The disguised person did not keep him waiting. He replied immediately:
“My lord, that guy shut himself in his room right after his return, saying that he would try to heal his injuries. However, when this subordinate went to look for him, I found that he was dead.”
“His soul was annihilated. It seems that the injuries he sustained during the trip were more severe than he expected.”
“Is he dead?”, the Clan Head muttered in a low voice as a profound glint flashed across his eyes.
He stopped and fell into thought for a few seconds before he stared at the black shadow and ordered:
“A team is soon going to leave the Clan and investigate what happened in the Northern Lands. Order the traitors of the Dark Demon Clan under our forces to attack them and leave some traces behind.”
“It’s best to leave a few of them alive to spread the news.”
“Also, send a person to keep an eye on the Third Priest’s movements. If he steps out of line, immediately inform me.”
The Clan Head had just instructed him to kill members of the Ouroboros Clan, but the black shadow did not so much as flinch.
He merely nodded his head and blended into the shadows again, planning to do as ordered.
“Killing the Third Priest’s son to take out the competition while framing the Dark Demon Clan?”
“Ophis… it seems that I underestimated you.”
“Since that’s the case, your father is going to help you clean up the mess…”, the Clan Head muttered to himself before he shook his head.
It was unknown if he was angry or proud of Ophis’ actions.
—
Ophis did not know what the Clan Head was thinking.
She could not have guessed that he had misunderstood the situation, believing that she had murdered everyone to get rid of the competition.
At the moment, Ophis was floating on the surface of a giant body of water, surrounded by a sea of golden blood.
Her lower body began to recover as flesh continuously sprawled out like tentacles, quickly gathering into a pair of legs.
However, Ophis did not display much happiness. Instead, her gaze turned strange as she surveyed her surroundings.
“I didn’t expect that these guys would throw me into a sea of blood as soon as I infiltrated this place.”
“Can this be considered a welcoming gift?”, she couldn’t help but think, and her thoughts revealed her true identity.
That’s right.
From the very start, the person whom the Priest wanted to murder and whom the Clan Head protected was none other than Liora.
Although she had come to the Ouroboros Clan as a man, this didn’t mean that she was planning to stay as such for long.
In her opinion, the identity of Ophis was much more important.
“I killed the middle-aged man in his room and left his corpse behind. Even if someone suspects something and investigates further, no one will ever suspect that I’m an outsider.”
“At most, these people will think that it’s a fight between Clan members.”, Liora thought silently as her body drifted along the large sea of golden blood.
Feeling the waves strike on her body and sensing a faint movement on her soul, she couldn’t help but recall her “father’s”, the Clan Head’s, words.
“Absorbing this blood is extremely beneficial for Divine Race members.”
“The Divine Blood Pool can stay open for three days. In this amount of time, it’s best to absorb as much of it as possible.”
Although Liora was not part of the Divine Race, her Myriad Devils Body could also absorb blood to strengthen itself.
Most importantly, the faint tremor in her soul let her know that there were bound to be other benefits involved.
Thinking of this, she didn’t rush to get out of the blood pool. Letting her body float on its surface, she began absorbing the blood.
Ordinary people, even Warriors, would have been unable to do so. Only members of the Divine Race innately had this ability, and even for them, it would be quite difficult to achieve.
But for Liora, absorbing resources, including blood, had become second nature to her.
After all, the word “devourer” was as important as the word “world” in her World Devourer Bloodline.
With a move of her mind, the surrounding blood began to gather towards her.
Part of it was utilized to strengthen her Myriad Devils Body, while the other part flowed towards her soul.
The golden blood drilled deeper and reached into her soul, flowing towards the crimson saber and pouring right into it.
The Indestructible Matter along the saber’s surface began to spread. Slowly but surely, the golden color covered a bigger part of the saber, making its aura even more refined, more… perfect.
The same changes took place in Liora’s soul.
Soon, a scene that would make every Greater Devil turn green with envy was unfolding.
