Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 322: Gains

Chapter 322: Gains
A black-haired girl stood in a closed, damp space, stretching for only a few tens of meters.
Opposite her stood a hunched humanoid figure whose limbs were covered in fur and who wore a pair of brown gauntlets.
Suddenly, the hunched figure’s outline blurred before he reappeared in front of the black-haired girl.
Its head was raised slightly, revealing a male wolf-like face, as his hands turned into fists and shot at the girl.
The hunched man’s strength was terrifying. The wind whistled violently as the gauntlets pierced right through it and attacked the girl.
Just when it seemed that the girl’s head was about to be smashed open, a black light flashed on her forehead.
The light fired up and landed on top of her head before transforming into an eerie yet beautiful umbrella.
The umbrella shook. A translucent black veil descended and covered the girl below.
The veil did not look very powerful. It seemed as if it would shatter at the first sign of impact.
Yet, when the hunched man’s gauntlets struck at it, it failed to break it.
It only caused the veil to shake for a brief moment before it turned back to normal as if nothing had happened.
On the other hand, the hunched man was impacted.
As if the umbrella could bounce back the damage, he was forced to take a few steps back as the skin along his hands shattered.
A golden light flashed and wanted to help him recover, but it was already too late. For the first time since the battle began, the black-haired girl moved.
With a step, she approached the hunched man, and with a wave of his hands, the black umbrella began to spin.
The serpents painted across its surface were suddenly activated and obtained substance, turning material and targeting the hunched man.
Half of them opened their mouths and aimed at different parts of his body, devouring them with a single bite, while the other half flicked their tails and struck at him.
The hunched man was not very smart.
Seeing the many attacks coming in his direction, he didn’t try to evade but chose to face them head-on.
The result was obvious.
The serpents’ attacks broke apart his body as the golden light grew even stronger, struggling to help him recover.
“It’s time to end this…”, the girl whispered, and as if in response, the black umbrella above her head suddenly closed.
It fell into her hand and her palm tightly clasped its handle before she waved the umbrella forward.
Its sharp tip shone brightly.
It seemed to disregard the difference in distance between them and landed on the hunched man’s abdomen, leaving behind a large gash.
However, the black-haired girl did not stop there. She waved the umbrella again and again, as if it were not an ornament but a terrifying sword.
The hunched man could do nothing. Besieged by the serpents and attacked by the girl, he could only struggle for a few more seconds.
Less than a couple of minutes later, the hunched man raised his head and roared towards the sky before his body disintegrated.
Only a wolf’s head that resembled the man’s face remained in the place where he previously stood.
Its eyes were still open, filled with resentment and boundless murderous intent.
The girl did not care. Taking a step forward, she picked up the head and was about to leave.
Just when she was about to turn around, the sound of clapping reached her ears.
“Congratulations, Lady Ophis. I’m afraid that even your father did not expect that your combat experience would improve so quickly.”
“In just a few days, you’ve become powerful enough to defeat one of the strongest Evil Spirits of the Evil Spirit Prison.”, Serathiel praised the girl, with a trace of admiration flashing across his eyes.
“It deserves to be that person’s daughter…”, he muttered inwardly, and the figure of her father roaming the Central Area and killing everyone like a Demon God couldn’t help but appear in his mind.
Liora, disguised as Ophis, could not know that this powerful man was daydreaming.
She merely nodded her head while most of her focus remained on the wolf’s head in her hands.
She consciously restrained her urge to devour it. Not because she was disgusted, but because now was not the time.
After all, Liora knew that this head was not really an object, but an item constructed using a small amount of World Origin.
As long as she wanted to devour it, it would instantly transform back into its original form.
“The visit to the Ouroboros Clan has been very fruitful. Not only did I obtain a large amount of Indestructible Matter, but I also obtained several portions of World Origin.”
“However, it might be time to leave. After the Demon God’s Cemetery closes, I should take the opportunity to slip away.”
Seeing Liora stare at the wolf’s head without speaking, Serathiel thought that she didn’t know what to do with it. Thus, he explained:
“These items are the core of the Evil Spirits. They are said to be the source of resentment that gave birth to these beings.”
“In fact, long-term exposure to such items is dangerous. The resentment will slowly affect the people around them, gradually changing their personalities.”
“But for us, these items are quite useful.”
“Over the past few days, you should have collected more than a dozen such things. If you were to integrate them into your Divine Weapon, its quality will improve significantly, and your trip to the Demon God’s Cemetery will be smoother.”, Serathiel advised her.
Hearing his words, Liora nodded her head and thanked him.
Then, she didn’t stay here any longer. Together with Serathiel, she left the Evil Spirit Prison.
Although she wished to devour every Evil Spirit trapped within this building, she understood that it was almost impossible.
Unless she wanted to tear off her disguise and get besieged by several Demon Saints and even Demon Sovereigns, there was no way to achieve this.
