Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 355: Time

Chapter 355: Time
Countless figures emerged from the river behind the Demon God.
They all had a slightly different appearance, with some of them being young and some old. Yet, they all closely resembled the Demon God.
Perhaps because of the Land of Nothingness’ blessing, or perhaps because of some other reason, Liora discovered that she was able to see some images when glimpsing at these figures.
As her eyes wandered around them, she guessed their identity.
These figures were all the past of the Demon God. The young men were him, and the same held true for the other people, too.
With that in mind, the identity of the river also became apparent: it was the famed River of Time. Or at the very least, one of its many tributaries.
Liora had little time to admire this famed “landscape”, though.
As her eyes scanned over the figures, she seemed to have personally experienced the life of a man, going from a little kid to a top-tier powerhouse.
Liora witnessed a young boy without much talent struggling to survive, barely being able to become a Warrior after years of hard training.
Then, just when he was about to despair, he unearthed a treasure during one of his adventures.
The treasure did not look very impressive.
It was a small, weathered clock, small enough to fit in even the tiniest of pockets.
However, this seemingly unassuming treasure completely changed the young man’s life.
It granted him a special ability: to foresee the future.
At first, the man could only glimpse events that happened a few seconds into the future. But as time passed, the future he could foresee became more and more distant.
Using that ability, the man rapidly became more powerful. He continued unearthing treasures and soon became a Master, before finding a fragment of a Demon Weapon.
After nourishing it with his own blood for several years, he succeeded in becoming a member of the Divine Race.
From then on, his journey was mostly smooth and uneventful.
He quickly grew into a Weapon Master, a Demon Saint, and finally a Demon Sovereign.
It was only then that he clashed with the nine Divine Clans, and the ancient war occurred.
Liora watched the scenes unfold before her, with faint emotional fluctuations.
She was not very shocked by the Demon God’s experience. She had peeped into the lives of many people before and had seen countless outstanding people.
What piqued her interest instead was the treasure that he possessed: the small clock with the ability to glimpse into the future.
Time.
This was a power that only extremely powerful beings could manipulate.
As far as Liora knew, only Ancient Devils could come into contact with time.
Therefore, this treasure, which allowed the Demon God to foresee the future even while extremely weak, truly shocked Liora.
While deep in thought, her gaze continued tracing the figures and witnessing more of the past events.
The next part matched what she already knew.
Faced with the attack of the nine Divine Clans, the Demon God was forced to fight back. He took in subordinates and established the Nine Halls, wishing for every one of them to become equal to a Divine Clan.
However, not long after the ancient war broke out, the Demon God discovered something that made him despair: he had unknowingly been corrupted.
Throughout the years, he had established a close relationship with his own Demon Weapon. At the same time, he had killed countless Evil Spirits.
It was exactly because of these that he had been influenced. His soul was corrupted by two higher-level powers, and he would soon lose himself, allowing these beings to descend.
The Demon God was about to go crazy upon learning that fact. He had prepared to self-destruct and die together with the other Demon Sovereigns.
However, before he could do so, he was lucky to glimpse a certain future with the small clock’s help.
In the distant future, an unknown person would descend into this world.
Although she would be weak at first, she would rapidly get stronger, enough to help him break free of the two higher-level worlds’ control.
It was with that in mind that the Demon God made his next plans.
Faking his own death, his soul was “sealed” by the nine Divine Clans, using that opportunity to suppress the influence of the two worlds.
The rest did not require Liora to watch.
She already understood that the person the Demon God had been waiting for was her. And the time he had been waiting for had indeed arrived.
Watching a plan spanning thousands of years and the several preparations that the Demon God had made, Liora subconsciously shook her head.
“Time… It’s truly a wonderful power.”, she couldn’t help but whisper.
With the power of time, the untalented Demon God had managed to become an apex powerhouse within only a few years.
With the power of time, the Demon God was able to contend against the nine Divine Clans on his own.
With the power of time, the Demon God had managed to predict her arrival and hatch a plan to save himself.
Countless thoughts raced through Liora’s mind, and the more she thought about it, the more shocked she became.
However, she soon pushed these thoughts aside and shifted her attention back to reality, back to the real Demon God.
She had spent hours watching the pictures, but in reality, not even a moment had gone by.
The Demon God was still accumulating momentum, while the figures behind him became increasingly clear.
Finally, the illusory figures grew truly lifelike. The confusion in their eyes vanished, and they suddenly turned their head.
Their gazes seemed to trace through time and space and arrive in reality.
They stared at the world outside and at the frenzied Demon God, seemingly understanding something.
“So that’s how it is…”
A unified whisper echoed in Liora’s ears, followed by a faint sigh of regret.
Under her eyes, a sword appeared in the hand of those figures.
It looked exactly the same as the one that the Demon God held, and they all mimicked his movements, pointing it towards the sky.
Their figures overlapped with the Demon God, and their power poured into him.
Some of these figures were weak, while only a few were powerful.
However, considering their huge number, their integrated power was truly immense.
The body of the Demon God began to crack, unable to withstand the impact.
His aura soon broke through a certain limit and truly entered the Archdevil stage before it continued improving even further.
The eyes of the Demon God reflected the silhouette of the two eyes etched across the sky.
Turning around, he looked at the world behind him for one last time before he swung his sword with all his power.
“The future is left to you. Don’t disappoint me.”, Liora heard the Demon God’s sigh as a tiny object was thrown in her direction.
