Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 357: "Reunion"

Chapter 357: “Reunion”
With a wave of her hands, the space in front of Liora shattered, and she appeared in another place within the Demon Weapon World.
Then, striking at the space before her once again, she shattered several space layers at once.
The bottomless darkness was quickly revealed within.
However, besides that unending darkness, there was also a tiny flickering light.
It was a demi-plane attached to the main world, just like the Demon God’s Cemetery.
It was just that, unlike the place where the Demon God was sealed, this space was far better protected.
The demi-plane itself was attached to the deepest layer of space, requiring the strength of a peak Greater Devil to reach, while a bizarre power circulated around it, resisting exploration.
The demi-plane seemed to exist in the past and the future. Its timeline never overlapped with the present.
Liora instantly understood why she had failed to find this place upon seeing this.
Holding the small clock in her hand and feeling the bizarre power disperse, she couldn’t help but sigh about the power of time once again.
With a thought, the clock was put away, and with another, she flashed beside the demi-plane.
Just when she was about to enter it, however, her movements suddenly paused.
Her eyes narrowed, and she turned to the side, where a person had unknowingly appeared.
“Cough, cough… My lord, I don’t have any bad intentions. Please don’t make a mistake…”
“The Master has already informed me of your arrival. I’m here to ensure that nothing goes wrong.”
“Please don’t misunderstand!”
A timid voice echoed in the otherwise silent void, interspersed with the sound of bloody coughing.
The voice’s owner was familiar.
Or at least, they were familiar to Liora.
“I didn’t expect that you would be under the command of the Demon God. Indeed, coincidences are often the scariest.”, Liora spoke casually as she glanced at this newcomer.
The person tasked with guarding this demi-plane was none other than the frail man she had once met in the Demon God’s Cemetery. The two had jointly explored a Ruin, and he had provided Liora with valuable information.
His appearance had not changed compared to before, while the frailty and timidness were still etched across his face.
Yet, Liora discovered that his aura was unpredictable. Sometimes it was powerful, reaching the Demon Sovereign realm, while at others it was weak, looking like a weak Weapon Master.
“Hehehe. I’m merely following my Master’s orders.”
“In fact, it’s my honor to have spent some time with Your Excellency.”
“After this is over, I will find a hidden place to settle down. After all, the Divine Race is no longer…”
The frail man looked both regretful and relieved, but his pupils shrank halfway through his words.
“Why—”, he tried to argue, but it was already too late.
Liora’s hand had arrived before him.
His body was instantly shattered. Blood and bones flew everywhere, while his aura vanished.
But just a moment later, a golden light flickered, and he quickly recovered.
The frail man was not happy, though.
The previous sense of death seemed to have terrified him, and he stared at Liora with horror as he took several steps back.
“My lord! Don’t kill me! I’m willing to be your servant!”
“I’m willing to betray the Demon God and serve you instead!”, he shouted, as if he were ready to kneel down and beg for mercy.
Seeing this, Liora chuckled and waved her hand.
“Okay, there’s no reason to pretend. The Demon God is indeed extraordinary.”, she stated before she struck once again.
The frail man exploded.
The moment he recovered, another attack was launched at him.
Then a second one, and a third.
Within moments, the man had perished hundreds of times. His aura grew weaker the more times he died.
From a Demon Sovereign, to a Demon Saint, a Weapon Master, and then even weaker.
“It’s unexpected that the Demon God found a way to make you retain some of your Divine Aura.”
“Is this why he wished me to kill every extraordinary person? To make you the overlord in this world?”, Liora spoke casually in between her attacks.
But then, she shook her head.
“No. Although you are strange, you’re not worthy of the Demon God paying attention.”
“Since that’s the case, does that mean that the Demon God has found a method to revive himself?”
“Are you the pawn he left behind to carry out his revival? So when I leave, he can revive and once again dominate this world?”
The frail man showed little change in expression at first, but when he heard the latter part of Liora’s words, he was stunned.
His pupils shrank once again, this time many times more realistically than before.
Though he didn’t outright state it, his intense reaction proved that Liora’s words were not without merit.
Seeing this, Liora couldn’t help but shake her head.
Sure enough, the Demon God had a backup plan.
She had already expected this. Since he had foreseen her arrival and his destined death, there was no reason that he didn’t leave a chance for himself to revive.
Thinking of this, Liora finally stopped killing the frail man. After letting his aura drop to the minimum, she waved her hand and gestured for him to go inside the demi-plane.
No matter whether he was willing or not, the frail man could only follow her lead. He didn’t dare to say anything, as if his opponent was not the one who had just killed him hundreds of times.
—
The demi-plane guarded by the frail man was quite different from the Demon God’s Cemetery.
It was only a few cubic meters in size and looked more like a room than a real demi-plane.
Of course, the small size made the defensive power of the demi-plane even more apparent. Unfortunately, in front of Liora, such a defense meant nothing.
The moment she tore apart the demi-plane’s defense, Liora stepped inside and looked around.
The demi-plane was unassuming. There was no source of light, with only a blood pool serving as the “earth”.
The pool was bottomless, seemingly extending down endlessly.
Yet, when a rune flickered in Liora’s eyes and she investigated it deeper, she discovered something floating inside.
With a wave of her hand, a light shot out of the pool and landed in her palm.
The object had the shape of a sphere.
Countless runes wriggled eerily along its surface, while the sphere itself exuded a powerful aura despite being a supposed inanimate object.
Holding it, Liora roughly judged “its” strength.
Slightly stronger than a Greater Devil, but weaker than an Archdevil.
Realizing this, she couldn’t help but feel speechless.
Although the appearance of the sphere had changed significantly, Liora recognized that it was Alpha’s mechanical core.
Exactly because of that, she was stunned.
Before their arrival in this world, Alpha was far weaker than she was.
But now, by seemingly soaking in a pool of blood for a few years, Alpha had managed to keep up with her.
Speechless, Liora turned her attention to the frail man beside her. Unwilling to investigate whether his terrified expression was real or an act, she asked him the question plaguing her mind.
“For how long has this been in here?”
The frail man stammered. But under her threatening gaze, he soon answered:
“My lord! This thing was collected by the Demon God during the ancient war.”
“I don’t know what it is. All I know is that the Master values it greatly.”
“The Master has taken great care of it over the years. Most of the people who died in the Demon God’s Cemetery were transported here and fed to this sphere.”
“I suspect that the Master is planning to use it to forge a powerful Divine Weapon.”
Thousands of years.
This answer was both expected and unexpected at the same time.
Liora frowned. She took a deeper look at the mechanical core, and after a few minutes of silence, she gestured to the frail man and walked outside.
The moment the two left, the demi-plane that had stood for thousands of years began to crack.
A giant hand appeared in the sky above it and held it like a toy before tossing it into a giant black hole.
Perhaps it was an illusion, but the hole looked much like a human mouth. Coupled with the loud crunching sounds that soon followed, the final fate of the demi-plane was apparent.
