Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 363: Tribulation [2]

Chapter 363: Tribulation [2]
Destruction—this was the concept that the black thunder represented in Liora’s eyes.
Unlike the thunders that had previously attacked, which at least gave one a sense of hope, the black thunder seemed to be made purely for destruction.
It wouldn’t rest until its opponents were completely wiped out, as if it represented the end of all things.
Just by taking a brief look at it, Liora felt her soul being torn apart.
Her body melted, destroyed from within, as if her very concept of existence was gradually being erased.
She was momentarily stunned.
It was only when her demonic energy surged on its own that she had a chance to recover.
Looking at the black thunder, which was quickly approaching her, the urge to retreat emerged within her.
However, seeing the almost-completed weapon and recalling the efforts she had gone through to reach this point, she gritted her teeth with determination.
Flashing in front of it, she blocked the black thunder’s trajectory and took action.
This time, she didn’t hold back at all.
The projection of the Land of Nothingness, the Myriad Devils Body, Eclipse, Abyssal Maw, Spear of Divine Punishment…
Every ability that Liora had was hastily activated. As if she felt that this was not enough, her figure grew bigger.
Her hand reached out and grabbed the surviving worlds, bringing them closer and using them to form a wall of defense as if each world were but a tiny brick.
Her actions sounded complicated and time-consuming. But in reality, less than a moment had gone by, and the black thunder had yet to arrive.
It was only when she moved the final world that the thunder finally struck.
There was no earth-shattering impact nor an overwhelming momentum like before.
No sound echoed, nor did any blinding light flash.
The destruction brought by the black thunder was silent and invisible.
The projection of the Land of Nothingness shattered instantly upon coming into contact with it, together with the rest of Liora’s abilities.
Then it was the turn of the wall of worlds.
The wall was only able to hold back the enemy for a brief moment before they were all driven to extinction. They were quickly extinguished, causing the wall to break apart.
With both layers of defenses destroyed, the black thunder continued unabated and fell on Liora and the weapon behind her.
Neither was able to withstand its impact.
Liora’s body and soul were instantly extinguished, while the already fractured weapon let out a sorrowful wail and shattered.
The black thunder did not become complacent.
It continued striking at the place where the two had once stood, almost breaking the space within the Origin Sea.
It was only seconds later, after it had confirmed the death of the “rebels”, that it finally retreated.
Following a hum, the black thunder vanished, and the trembling Supreme Laws in the distance returned to normal.
Silence returned to the Origin Sea.
The strongest beings among the Heavens stared at the Supreme Laws with thoughtful expressions, wondering who was daring enough to confront them.
However, judging from the Supreme Laws’ reaction, it was apparent that the daring one had already died.
Seeing this, the powerhouses soon stopped investigating and resumed their practice.
The chaos in the Origin Sea soon receded.
In the place where the Thunder Tribulation had just landed, only a few worlds remained intact.
All the lower-level worlds had already shattered, while the medium-level worlds had suffered greatly, with some nearly being driven to extinction.
Only the few higher-level worlds remained intact, evidence of their extraordinary status and immense strength.
Among those worlds, there was a relatively small one that stood out.
Because of Liora’s preparation, the Demon Weapon World had not suffered much damage. Although the formations protecting it had ultimately cracked, they had succeeded in sharing most of the impact.
Still, just like the rest of the worlds surrounding it, it now remained utterly silent.
That was until suddenly, the sound of water flowing broke through the silence.
As if waves were pushing forward one another, the serene sound of a river echoed.
In the dark space near the Demon Weapon World, a translucent river materialized out of nowhere.
It had the shape of a circle, with its end also leading to its beginning, like an ouroboros snake eating its tail.
As the river constantly flowed forward, a small droplet flew out, as if by accident.
Yet, before the droplet could fall down, it began to transform.
A head, two hands, two limbs, and a torso appeared.
Very quickly, the drop had taken a human appearance.
Or rather, it had taken the appearance of a familiar person—none other than Liora.
A small river flashed within her crimson pupils and washed away the confusion as they regained their brilliance.
Her translucent body shook, and before long, the illusory body had turned into flesh and blood.
Seeing this, Liora couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
She waved her hand, and the river behind her grew smaller, finally turning into the size of an ordinary ring.
Black dye seemed to have fallen into the river as it turned black and took the shape of a self-eating serpent, landing on her finger and covering it.
Liora felt herself become whole as she wore the black ring.
Feeling its extraordinary power, she couldn’t help but be filled with excitement, feeling that everything was worth it.
However, when she recalled the previous situation, a shiver ran down her spine.
“Too dangerous…”
“If it were not for the weapon being completed in the final moments, I would have really died.”
“Is this the price paid for defying the Supreme Laws? If that’s the case, who can possibly withstand it?”
Liora spoke from personal experience.
She understood that although she had survived, she had actually failed to pass the “Thunder Tribulation”.
It was only because she got lucky and the weapon was successfully forged in the final moments that she had a chance to survive.
Otherwise, she would have really perished.
