Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 382: Departure

Chapter 382: Departure
The other fights were not as fast, but they all ended up pretty quickly.
Without exception, the Indestructible Soul Devils were all defeated.
Before long, only six people stood in the originally packed hall.
Liora, Alpha, Assira, the remaining two Greater Devils, and the representative of the Universe Chamber of Commerce.
The latter had a wide smile on his face.
He was relieved to have found several powerful beings. In fact, this result had already exceeded his expectations.
He believed that with the help of these five Devils, controlling the medium-level world was almost a certainty.
Still, though excited, he didn’t lose his composure. He understood that things were far from over.
“Now that everyone is here, we should sign the Devil Contract.”, the gentleman said, and pushed forward five different parchments that had been prepared long ago.
Taking it in her hand, Liora quickly went through it.
The terms agreed upon were simple, and there were no obvious loopholes.
After glancing at them briefly, her gaze moved towards the promised rewards.
Each Devil participating would receive a lower-level world just as they had agreed.
On the other hand, the clues about the Devil Technique would be shared with everyone.
This was to be expected, and no one was surprised.
After making sure that there was nothing amiss, Liora and Alpha both signed the contract.
The other Greater Devils followed soon after.
Before long, the Devil Contracts had been established.
A smile appeared on everyone’s face.
“I don’t think there’s anyone among us who wants to waste time.”
“Since everyone is already here, I hope that you go to the world and provide help as soon as possible.”, the gentleman said, and his words received a nod from everyone.
Seeing this, the representative turned around and gestured for them to follow him.
Under his guidance, the group wandered through the building and walked down several long, spiral staircases.
Though Liora stood at the back of the group, she secretly memorized the route.
After walking through several more rooms guarded by formations, guards, and even mechanical weapons, the six Devils finally reached the destination.
A giant gate stood at the center of a vast hall.
Seemingly guessing everyone’s thoughts, the gentleman took the initiative to explain:
“The powerhouses of our organization have built this gate leading straight to the medium-level world, so you don’t have to fear getting lost.”
“As long as you step into the gate, its power will guide you through the Origin Sea and towards your destination.”
“When you get there, you only need to…”
While listening to his explanation, Liora’s gaze fell onto the gate.
Unlike the other Greater Devils, who were surprised by the gate’s effects and grew greedy, she was not.
Staring at the runes squirming across the gate’s surface, she couldn’t help but compare them with those used by the World-Descending Array.
Immediately, she noticed several similarities.
“It’s rumored that the Universe Chamber of Commerce has an Archdevil in charge, but there’s been no confirmation so far.”
“Now, I’m afraid that these rumors are true. Otherwise, only beings like me, with extraordinary opportunities, can build such a thing.”
Of course, this made sense.
Without an Archdevil as their support, how would an organization dare to openly control a medium-level world, even inviting outside help to achieve it?
Clearly, the Universe Chamber of Commerce had enough confidence that no one would become greedy and betray them.
Though Liora was observing the runes, she still listened attentively to the gentleman’s explanation.
Gradually, both she and the other Greater Devils gained a deeper understanding of the world they were about to travel to, as well as their goal while they were there.
After a while, the representative finished speaking.
With a move of his mind, two armored guards stepped in and poured their demonic energy into the gate.
Though their actions looked normal on the surface, as if they were merely activating it, Liora keenly noticed that the way they manipulated their demonic energy was peculiar and complicated.
Obviously, opening the gate was not simple. It required a certain “password”.
Thankfully, the process didn’t take long.
Only a few minutes later, the gate was activated, and the representative gestured for them to go in.
The first to go was Assira, who showed no fear and stepped into the gate.
Then, a Greater Devil resembling a mantis walked in, followed by a pale man who moved like a walking corpse.
Seeing that they were the only ones left in the room and sensing the representative’s gaze, Liora didn’t hesitate.
After reminding Alpha to stay near her, she took her hand and walked in.
The runes on the gate flashed brilliantly before their brilliance dimmed, signaling the start of their journey.
“I hope everything goes well.”, the representative’s whispers echoed in the hall as he watched the gate deactivate.
—
Liora felt herself travel through the Origin Sea. The sensation was familiar, yet also equally strange.
In fact, this was the first time that Liora had entered the Origin Sea without the help of the World-Descending Array.
Compared to using this nearly omnipotent formation to travel, the power of the Universe Chamber of Commerce’s gate was many times weaker.
Not only was the travel far slower, but Liora could feel various forces attacking her body, like an ordinary person breaking through the speed of sound.
If a True Devil were in her place, they would have been quickly injured.
Thinking of this, Liora turned to look at Alpha.
Although the power of the gate made it difficult for her to detect her surroundings and everything seemed to exist in a different dimension, she could still feel her hand holding Alpha’s.
Thus, she was quickly relieved.
Time slowly passed.
Liora understood that it would take some time to reach the medium-level world.
Although using the gate was faster than simply travelling on her own, it was still far less efficient than using the World-Descending Array.
Thinking of this, she closed her eyes and ignored the forces attacking her. She recalled the runes she had just glimpsed and did her best to engrave them in her memories.
Under such a state, time quickly passed.
